Had a realisation and nowhere else to really share it.
In the past year and a half, I've gained about 16 kilograms, a 16kg that I had spent the year before that losing. My weight loss was so slow and unfocused that I didn't really pay attention to the gaining back either, it just kind of happened - as it often does.
You always see people especially on here being like "I've lost 10lbs which is _ sticks of butter" or "i've lost the equivalent of a small dog" which I've never really thought about further personally. Today, however, I finally made a connection. I picked up a 16kg dumb bell (how fitting for it to be the exact amount) and while that may not be heavy for many people, for someone who hasn't consistently exercised in ages that shit was HEAVY. Realising that that's the extra weight I'm carrying now as opposed to a year ago hit me like a ton of bricks.
And in the grand scheme of things, that's only about 1/3 of the weight I have to lose in total. I know it should be obvious but I never really think of it like that, and I'm just baffled. No wonder I'm so tired eh, if I had to walk around every day carrying that 16kg dumbbell lord knows I'd be exhausted.
I'm sorry this isn't very eloquent but just had to share because it's changed my perspective so much, definitely a recommended reality check.
