I had a craving for cabbage soup the other day, then discovered the cabbage soup diet rabbit hole. I've been lazily intermittent fasting for a year on-and-off to great success, but I think adding cabbage soup as one of my most made meals could help my weight loss even more.
Reading the criticisms of the soup diet lead to many questions that don't seem to be answered. I thought I would ask a few here, because it seems like articles written by dietitians only seek to encourage you to hire one. Everyone addresses this diet as if you're doing it to the absolute extreme and only for a week, rather than trying to make it a long-term thing.
One common complaint against this diet is how unbalanced it is due to how low it is in proteins and fats. What would be the most ideal thing to add to the common recipes to address this? Would 2 fried eggs be more than enough to cover the missing nutrition?
The other common criticism of this diet is that you only lose water weight and regain it after. Is this even accurate, or just a way to encourage people to pay a professional? I exercise regularly and already have been steadily losing weight due to portion control. Does regaining weight after a diet only occur to people who take it to the most extreme then return to an unhealthy lifestyle?
Thanks for reading.
