26% of the way to 100 pounds of weight loss [post 2]

Stats: 30m, 6’1” , sw: 282, gw: 185, cw: 256

Alright, 10 weeks in and 26 pounds down. I have had no major hiccups so far, been working out consistently at least 4 times a week. I also started lifting weights 2-3 times a week and am actually seeing some pretty massive muscle gains that don’t quite make sense (somehow my biceps are getting huge so fast).

Two weeks ago I flew out to see my family and was able to play basketball, swim, and go on a hike. I am not sure I could’ve done all that 10 weeks ago - I definitely could not have played a game of pickup basketball. One day after about an hour of basketball in 100 degree heat I admit I was absolutely cooked - it’ll be fun to see how my body changes to intense physical activity.

I am going through some struggles mentally, though. I am dealing with some pretty bad social isolation. My biggest issue is that I moved across the country a year ago with my GF , but we broke up at the end of may. I work remote, and with COVID making the world change I feel like it is really hard to meet people right now. Before I had a pretty good social life, so this is really hard for me. I guess that is why I am on Reddit a lot .

I know that by next summer I’ll be in a good spot; I truly believe deep down I will be in a great spot again. However, time is really precious to me and I almost feel guilty throwing away a year of my life without making exciting new memories. The easiest way to meet people would be to start going out to concerts & bars, but I know that would tank my weight loss. And, to be honest , I spent a lot of time going out in my early 20s and I am fine being past that stage.

W/e I guess that last bit was off topic. I am trying to get into cooking, reading, stretching, meditation, and continue hiking, biking, and lifting weights. This is an insane grind, but from the struggle I find peace, and from peace I find strength .

Edit: I’m taking lots of progress pics and hope to show y’all a montage next summer :). Also, funny side note: I also went on my first run, unplanned, this Sunday. I went on a hike and it started pouring rain out of nowhere on my way back. I was able to run the last 1/2 mile back. I took a pretty nice selfie there drenched in sweat + rain with a lush green background. That is going to be my best milestone pic for hitting the 25% goal.
