What I have learned after being injured is that nothing makes me crave junk food and binge eating more than a sedentary lifestyle. I do very light exercise! But it is so so so helpful with my mentality to weight loss even if i’m technically not burning the most calories. My advice to anyone on this journey is to get out and move as much as possible.
July 1st, 2021 is when I started my official weight loss journey and I acclimated quite well with my CICO (1400 kcal) and 3-5 days/week of walking 2 miles at 3.5 mph and doing 15-20 min resistance training after the walk. (Again, I would do the exercise 3-5 days/week).
By 5 weeks in, I weighed myself at ~215 which is a 20 lb weight loss in 5 weeks! I was aiming to lose 3-5 additional pounds by week 8. However, right at the end of week 5 I got a foot injury.
The consequence was I can’t do walking for two weeks while my injury heals. And without the cardio first thing in the AM, i am so unmotivated to weight lift. I also find myself wanting to binge every 2nd-3rd day. whereas before (while I was doing my preferred exercises) I had to force myself to even get to 1400 kcal. I would be full at 1100.
These two weeks off from exercise i’ve still been tracking everything and i am likely only going to “maintain” my weight at 215 and not lose anything. Sigh. I could’ve gotten down to 210 by week 8 but i guess at least i’m not gaining anything right?
So instead of the 25 lbs lost in 8 weeks i will settle for the 20 lbs lost. Tomorrow commences my two week hiatus from exercise and I am SO looking forward to the mentality boost to CICO that my light exercises gives me!
