Getting past a plateau

Hi everyone. I've been losing weight steadily for maybe 4-5 months, lost about 47 lbs. Since probably mid-August I have hit a massive plateau that won't seem to budge.

I tried not changing anything with my diet and exercise and just being patient as I know I should still be losing weight with my current plan but I haven't had success being patient. I also tried temporarily relaxing my diet as a fitness friend suggested to aid my metabolism (can not fully understand the reasoning he gave me for this strategy) with no success either.

Its been a month just about with no real weight loss at all. I really don't even understand how its possible. Some days I am in quite a large deficit of calories and I still do not budge. I eat very low carbs and sugars consistently and have been hitting the gym regularly. My one guess is that it could possibly be muscle weight as I have been lifting a lot more lately? But I know they can only grow so much while in a deficit and then I will need to be in a caloric surplus to gain real muscle. But I can feel I have more muscle than before. I hope that this is the reason for the plateau.

Is this normal? Any tips to move past this sort of thing?
