40m, 6'0", 220 lbs. I recently got a new job as a biologist on a preserve and went from sedentary to very, very active pretty much overnight. Basically, I'm hiking for 7-8 hours a day with about 20 lbs on my back. It's only been a week so I'm not sure of actual weight loss, but I'm down 10 lbs on the scale. I've been eating about 1800 cal/day, but have been ravenous and that's pretty much out the window. My daily exercise is gone too. No way I'm hitting the gym at the moment.
My question is how should I adapt my diet/exercise plan? Should I basically ignore it until I stabilize and see where I'm at, slowly up my calories and see where I end up, or stick with the diet and not look the gift horse in the mouth?
