Ok, so I've struggled with my weight for as long as I can remember.
I hit 400 lbs, and lost 200 to get down to my goal weight (I'm 6 3).
I hear non stop how unhealthy it is to restrict calories and lower food intake.
Is it less healthy than staying 400 lbs?
"Just exercise" they would say.
Funny thing is, everyone that told me that is either rail thin or have always been morbidly obese and have no idea how weight loss occurs.
It's math people, flat out. Daily intake - daily burn = net calories for the day, and if its negative, you lost for the day. 3500 calories per pound. Thats it.
Exercise helps, but not as much as people think. A solid hour of walking burns about 200. Thats fine, but I'm cutting about 500 per day with my diet.
Also, we'd go out to do something, and everyone would eyeball me and judge what I ordered. If I got something healthy I'd hear "come on, splurge a little" if I felt self conscious and ordered whatever greasy fatty cheese covered Americanized heart attack they ordered I'd hear "is that part of your diet?" or "are you sure that's healthy?"
Fuck. I can't win.
Here's an idea, let me take care of myself and don't comment on my weight or food choices, unless I'm in need of medical intervention.
