Hello all, I’m new to body recomp and after losing 30lbs I had some questions about getting started.
Background:
My stats: M 16, 5’ 10”, 158lbs
The reason I’m trying to pursue recomp is that my weight is alright but i have too much fat and not enough muscle, making me look barely any different to when I started losing weight. If I told someone my weight they would think I was lying, i look 20-25 lbs heavier than I am. My main questions will revolve around eating and training for the quickest results.
My questions:
-
Do I have to eat at maintenance calories or over to build muscle properly, or can I just eat a lot of protein every day and still be in a sizable deficit to speed everything up?
-
If i do resistance training 4 days a week and cardio the other 3, would I have to eat more on cardio days to keep from killing gains or can I keep a big deficit while also having protein on those days, which would hopefully preserve my gains?
-
How slow/fast roughly would my results be if I did what I highlighted in the above questions (assuming relatively intense workouts, around 180g protein a day and 1600ish calories)? It’s easy to calculate weight loss but I have no idea the timeframe for recomp.
-
What are some easy ways to get calories and protein in? After a long period of dieting and cardio, I now end up eating 800ish calories a day even on workout days because I’m usually not very hungry. What are some products/foods that are high in nutrients but not too much for me to eat?
-
Any general tips that I should know while I’m pursuing recomp? Any and all are appreciated.
Thanks in advance for any help!
