Is it normal to maintain/backtrack within the process of losing weight?

I’d love to hear from people who have lost or are still losing a significant amount of weight and/or over a long period of time.

On your way, did you hit a point where you felt stuck or burnt out, slipped back into poorer eating habits for weeks or months, regained some of your weight? And then were able to pick yourself up and get back to it?Or is getting stuck like this a symptom that your mindset or methods aren’t working? Is it okay and normal to just stop and maintain (more or less) and readjust before you feel ready to keep working on changing?

I’ve been stuck for about 2 months at the same weight, maybe gained a few pounds back. (I lost from about 170 lb to low 130’s now over about 5 months.) It’s not a plateau, it’s not a mystery. I know exactly what I’m doing, which is choosing to engage in the habits and choices that led to me gaining all my weight in the first place. I didn’t make any sweeping changes in my lifestyle that should cause backlash. If there’s anything I can pinpoint, it’s that I lost most of my weight without thinking much about it, but once I realized I’d lost quite a bit, I started become more excited about it, downloading the apps, checking my weight, joining in the conversation here. But I don’t know why getting MORE precise and engaged would trigger me to backtrack?

So I’m wondering if my approach should be more to back off and take it easy for a while, or if this is a bad sign and I need to push myself harder to regain my discipline before I undo all the progress I’ve made so far. If anyone more experienced can provide insight or share how your weight loss went it would be very helpful!
