Advice nearly no one talks about: analysing your own psyche

what everyone gets motivated by is different. naturally, one method that works for you may not work for someone else. but people rarely talk about psychoanalysing yourself as a major factor in losing weight.

i follow intermittent fasting in a 6-18 schedule. to stop myself from eating during those 18 hours, i brush my teeth whenever the 6 hours ends. because i am OCD about not eating after i do so, i know i wont be tempted to eat even if i am craving something. now this doesnt work for everyone, but because it is one of those things that really annoy me, it works for me.

a lot of people also say that working out makes them crave more because they feel like they earned it and want to reward themselves. now this may be true for some people, but it isnt true for me. after i workout, id really hate to destroy all the effort i put in hence i am even more alert about my diet.

there were times where, instead of dieting, i was starving myself. i had no snacks in my house because i didnt want to give myself the opportunity to do so and gain unnecessary calories, but i just ended up so despearte and hungry that i ended up eating ketchup packets. yes, ketchup packets. the ones u get when u order french fries from mcdoanlds. now needless to say this was incredibly unhealthy. so instead, i bought tons of healthy low calorie snacks. for me, thats fruit. i can somewhat reduce my craving for fast food and all that if i eat really sugary fruits. another thing i do other than fruits is to keep milk right on my desk, every time i feel a craving i drink a cup to remind myself that i am full but just peckish.

TLDR: weight loss is as much a mental battle as it is a physical one. what works for you may not necessarily work for someone else. know your weaknesses and adjust accordingly.
