Intuitive Eating? CICO? Newbie here and need some help!

Hello! I’m (21f) new to Reddit and also new to attempting weight loss and I’m looking for some guidance. I was always a severely underweight kid so my food habits were just to eat whatever I’m given as much as I wanted. Once I hit puberty I gained quite a bit of weight (in high school hovered around 145 lbs at 5’2”) and then maintained, and felt healthy and active, through high school and most of college. I’ve been a competitive dancer for years, so I was always moving. In college I went to group ex classes mostly (bc I’ve never enjoyed or felt confident going to the gym for anything else), and I started running a couple times a week (even tho I hate it).

Well I lost all of my progress in my fitness level over quarantine. I gained 25 lbs in a year, maxing at 175. I haven’t been walking on campus (a large portion of my daily activity) bc classes are all virtual, the gym isn’t an option currently due to campus restrictions, and I’ve been unable to dance with my club (which I love and miss) and have been unable to motivate myself to work out. I also love cooking and baking, and always overdo the portion sizes.

I’ve been reading about intuitive eating, and I’m interested in having a better relationship with my body and my food. I also know that calorie counting is the most cut and dry mathematical way to lose weight. I’m just not really sure where to start with any of this. It’s difficult when I’m at home because my parents are overweight and have poor relationships with food, too. And when I’m with my boyfriend (who is a D1 athlete and fitness buff) I feel fat and ignorant in comparison (although he tries his best to encourage and support me).

tldr; I’m new at all of this and don’t know where to start to lose weight. Any help would be appreciated!
