Like the title says, I’ve had a really hard time staying below 170lbs. 31 F, 5’6”. SW: 215 GW:140 CW:173.
For context, I started my weight loss journey 3 years ago. CICO worked so well for the first 2 years- I dropped 40 pounds in that time. It didn’t come off fast, but it came off steadily. My Happy Scale trend line was a straight downward slope with no hiccups.
But, the last year I feel like it’s gone haywire. The line is all over the place. Twice in the last year, I’ve gotten my weight into the 160’s (166 is the record- June ‘21.)
Once my weight gets into that range, it’ll stay there for a while, but I’ll start experiencing increased hunger and cravings for calorie dense food. My fitness pal is set to 1350. That number will feel totally do-able for a while, then suddenly it’s not even close to feeling satisfying and I’ll eat up my entire daily limit by 2pm.
I start going over my daily calories, weight creeps back on and I’m at 175 again. This is the weight where my clothes start getting tight and I feel sluggish, so the cycle repeats. It’s become a yo yo pattern.
Anyone else have this problem? I feel like I need a change-up to power through the last 30 pounds of my journey. However, I need it to be sustainable as I plan on keeping this off forever. So a demanding workout schedule or restricting major food groups may not be a good fit for me, as I don’t know if I’ll be able to maintain those things forever.
Troubleshoot with me! What’s up?
