Accepting the fact that this is a slow process - Happy Scale

(29F Height: 5’1” SW: 144 CW: 142 GW: 120)

I’ve been dieting on and off for about 10 years now and I’ve always struggled with the idea that weight loss is going to be a slow process. Every time I’ve gone on a diet, I’ve been on a roll and lose 10 pounds, but then binge eat because I’m restricting myself too much and then I lose the motivation and gain it all back.

I’ve recently reached the heaviest I’ve ever been and decided to lose about 25 pounds before thinking about starting a family with my husband. I want to feel healthy and ready when the time comes. I’ve come to terms with the fact that this process is going to be extremely slow for me, which has helped me so much mentally. I’ve downloaded Happy Scale, and I have to say I’m extremely pleased with it. Any time I’ve gained a pound here and there, or just feel like I’m not actually moving towards my goal, Happy Scale reassures me that I actually am losing weight every week. Now I don’t feel so awful when I’ve gone up half a pound. I also love the fact that you can divide your goal up into 10 milestones which I have found helps me a lot. Rather than focus on the big picture, I can reward myself for every few pounds I’ve lost.

Just for reference, I’ve been eating anywhere between 1200-1500 calories a day for the past two weeks, I weigh my food, and I usually walk about 2.5-4 miles a day because I have a dog. I wouldn’t say that I’ve cut out any particular foods, but simply counting the calories has made me less peckish. I don’t find myself binge eating due to lack of chocolate in my life. So for anyone out there who’s feeling down because their weight loss journey isn’t moving fast enough - it’s okay!
