Background: I'm extremely lazy and I've issues with staying motivated about a goal. So up until now, I've always easily given up; my BMl was always on the overweight side, until I realised that I crossed overweight when I wasn't looking and now I'm categorised as obese. Bad eating habits, lack of sleep and no exercise. Not even a little bit. A total sedentary lifestyle has led me to here. Basically, I'm a bit of a nut. I go all in easily, and then give up equally easily.
Also, I had a mild version of Covid 2 months ago, so I'm still building back my stamina and I'm on multivitamins too. Along with PCOD, my weight loss journey is going to be a constant uphill battle for me, I realize.
Additional info: I will deal with the diet part gradually in a couple of week's time. I have always been a eggetarian; I just need to now cook my veggies better and not just fry them. And incorporate salads and nuts too. But now on to my dilemma.
Now: I finally took the first step and started working out yesterday. My preferred choice of workout is walking. Now, mind you I have not exercised whatsoever before starting.
Yesterday I walked 6.5 Kms. Today it was 7.8 Kms.
I ate well before going for a walk and I had sufficient water with me to not be dehydrated. Had a protein supplement with milk on my return too.
What's actually worrying to me is that I am unable to read my body's signs very well. I didn't realize I overdid it today until I could barely walk home from the park after what was apparently 12700 steps.
But, now it's night and I am sore all over. is it because I just started working out and my muscles are naturally sore? Or am I overtraining? Or am I still facing the side effects of losing what little stamina I had 2 months ago? I really don't know my limit at all.
The original plan was 6 kms or 10k steps DAILY as walking is genuinely the only exercise I like. Whenever I did exercise in the past that is. The goal didn't seem like much at all when I planned it! But it's day 2 now, and I need someone who knows better to advice me.
Should I simply push through the pain and continue on? Or keep the goals but reduce the frequency of days in working out?
I wanted to lose 25 kgs by May with a combination of diet and exercise. I just need to know how much is too much as I'm unable to do that.
Will appreciate any insight you can share about how you started your workouts and how you managed to know when to stop so as to not overdo it in the initial stages.
