Im a 22 year old, female, university student. Over the past few months, my weight has been stable at 120kg (~265lb). Ive struggled with binge eating and emotional eating for my whole life. In addition, I’ve recently been in treatment for ARFID (avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder.
This is the first time my weight hasn’t gone up for a longer period od time. I wanted to take a moment to talk about how big of a step that is for me. My goal weight is 90kg and I’ll get there someday, but for now im not gaining and thats a win in my book.
So I wanted to write this out for those who struggle with food like I did. Take things slow, if you start in a deficit it might be too hard for you (like it was for me many times in the past, leading to more binges) so try a smaller step. Try to maintain while you get to the root of why you are eating. There is nothing wrong with starting your weight loss journey by not losing any weight. Take care of yourself, change your habits and you’ll be set up for a better chance of success.
