Welp, I hit another plateau. Again.

Currently 150. 5'3".

July '24 to Nov '24: Started at 185. I calculated my maintenance and it was 2300 calories. Started eating 1800 calories with strict counting and bountiful protein-rich whole foods and was 166lb by Nov. Yay! I also strength trained during this time.

Nov '24 to July '25: No man's land. My weight loss stalled BIG TIME. I played around with lowering my calories to 1650 fur a few weeks until I said fuck it and tabled returning to weight loss for later. I stopped counting calories and strength training by March.

July '25 to Oct '25: So, how much have I been eating during my weight loss break, anyways? Tracked my maintenance calories and it was 2300! Interesting. I weigh myself: I'm 160lbs. Cut my calories to 1750 and lost 10 lbs in 11 weeks. Yay! No strength training during this period; just daily 3-4 mile walks.

October '25: Wow, the scale hasn't been moving for a while now. Let me eat at maintenance for a week to see if that breaks things. Nope! Well, I'll go back to 1750 then. I take a vacation this week where I'm still tracking calories but walking everywhere...have to be clocking 6-8 miles everyday. Come back to the scale: no budge!

What gives? I'm so tired of this. I definitely have a lot of excess fat to go and I'm hoping to hit 138lb by New Years. Why is this plateau happening???

I finally made it to ONE-derland!!

From 275-195 at 5’3. I am so proud of myself!! I was a size 22, wearing 3x top and now I’m able to wear a 12 and a M/L tshirt?! Shopping has never been more fun. 🥹

I want to scream it from the rooftops that natural weight loss is possible!! If I can get under 200 pounds for the first time in 15 years anyone can lose some weight, if that’s what they want to do. All it takes is a deficit, tdee calculator, and maybe some exercise. We are incredible, capable and can be responsible for what we put in our body.

Sadly, my weight loss hasn’t been all sunshine and rainbows. I took the advice from my last post and tried to implement more protein, iron and calories to support my hair along with taking viviscal. I keep debating on continuing in this deficit. I struggle most days to get 70g of protein, rarely do I hit 130g.

I know my body has been under stress. In April, I got my first cold sore that became a chronic issue, thank god for medicine. Then in June my hair started coming out and hasn’t stopped. Then low local estrogen and other issues as of this week?? I’m 27??

I talked about doing maintenance once I hit 195. Here I am, I made it. I don’t want to do maintenance. I want to do whats best for myself and I don’t know what that is. No doctor has said to stop dieting yet. The thought of stopping scares me. I really want to get to 170 at least. I need my tummy to shrink! Ugh!

SUCCESS!!!

I did it! I finally made it to my goal weight! I was going to try to lose another 10 pounds and I probably can but I don't think I'm going to actually put the kind of effort into that as I did this. And if I do I think I need a break from having to think so hard about my diet for a bit. Honestly I kinda stopped worrying about things so much 3 or 4 pounds ago. My weight loss this month has been slow at best and stagnant at worst. I think that's probably a good sign that I've developed some solid habits for the short term.

Long term though I still plan on doing daily or near daily weigh ins. It's part of my routine at this point and I don't really think much about it, so if I need to tighten things up again if I start gaining or start eating more if I dip below 170 or 160 (Really don't wanna dip below 160 and I'm kinda worried I'll start looking malnourished if I reach that weight xD) So on the whole I'm not yet worried that I'll gain it all back. I also have a diet that I'm pretty happy with. So wooo. I'm very confident that I can make this work out.

So I think my next real goal is going to be to push harder for body recomp. I did a LOT of walking this year. I didn't do as much strength training as I'd have liked, but I kinda wanted to wait until I could add more calories back to my diet. x_x Gonna have to get some heavier weights xD

Anyway, I didn't really post here much, but I did lurk a lot and it was really nice to see other people on the same journey. I mean, technically I'm still on the journey cause now I gotta keep it off. I wish you all luck and I hope you have plenty of people in your lives that are supportive!

Seriously, I haven't been this light in over a decade. I am going to be processing this for a while.

Any Advice is Appreciated!

Anyone have advice for someone who gets little sleep in their weight loss journey. I'm a bartender and get off usually between 1-2, get home between 2-3. It takes me a half hour to crash, so going to sleep between 230-330am. I'm at by 630 to get up and get my sons ready for school.

I'm a wreck the whole day. I'm starting this regimen as soon as my protein powder and psyllium is delivered Saturday.

My days off are Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. I feel like Friday and Saturday should be rest days, but then I'm short changing my sons by not going out and doing things with them

Constructive advice is welcome!

Edit: I'm 6'2" and 230 pounds, a lot of that is gut. I'm decently small boned, so 235 is way too much for my natural frame.

Also, this isn't a woe is me post. In March 2024, I lost 25lbs doing a modified carnivore diet with intermittent fasting. It legit worked for me and I stuck to it. Eggs with jalapeños around 9. A ribeye steak (usually 6 ounces) finished with unsalted Irish butter, an over medium egg on top, with 3 spears of asparagus. I only drank water, ice tea with lemon, and coffee with an ounce of heavy cream. My fast time was 5 on, 19 off, the first week was HELL. I moved from 5 minutes from work to over an hour away for financial reasons. Because of my travel time, and with how extremely tired I am (I literally feel like I save up all my energy for a busy work shift), I just can't keep up with that fast. Not to mention when I get off between 2-3, I'm STARVING. It was one thing to drive five minutes home, have a glass of water with lemon and go to bed. With an hour plus drive, I need something to keep me awake.

Any advice is appreciated! I'm tired of being tired!

Meal prep cookbook recommendations?

Hello friends, I’m looking for a good cookbook with meal prep and plans for weight loss. I’m a pretty good cook who enjoys cooking and freestyling but I gotta get back to something consistent, at least for weekdays.

I’d like a high protein, low carb situation, and I’m good with meat and shellfish (not as big on fish, but not totally opposed), vegan or veggie, and all types of cuisine.

I went looking for a book, but the amount of results were kind of overwhelming, so I was hoping I could get some recs from the community of actual humans with expertise.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Did your taste buds change during weight loss? Because mine literally did, and I wasn't prepared for it 😅

I always heard people say “once you stop eating junk, you won't even want it anymore.” I used to roll my eyes like sure, Karen, my brain is addicted to sugar, not magically broken.

…but then it actually happened.

After a few months of being consistent with cleaner eating (not perfect, just more mindful), something weird happened: foods I used to crave suddenly tasted way too sweet, too oily, or just… artificial?

  • I grabbed a can of regular soda after weeks of water and sparkling drinks and nearly gagged. It tasted like carbonated syrup.
  • My old favorite fast-food burger? I couldn’t finish it everything felt greasy and heavy.
  • But on the flip side, things like blueberries, Greek yogurt with a drizzle of honey, or sautéed veggies started tasting amazing. Like my body was more excited by freshness than junk.

And the more whole foods I ate, the easier it became to stop overeating. My hunger cues felt… reset? I’m not saying I never enjoy treats (I still love a good dessert), but now I choose them instead of craving them like a reflex.

If anyone’s currently starting or restarting their journey and wants help building momentum without going “all or nothing,” I put together a free starter guide — link’s in my bio if it helps. No pressure, just sharing in case it’s useful 💪

What is going on??

32m/5'11"/455 lbs

On a 1500 cal diet, tracked religiously. Weigh everything, cooking additives, bites during cooking. EVERYTHING.

I went to the same doctor I did 32 days ago when I weighed in, same scale.

3 pounds lost.

This keeps happening. What the hell.

I eat a net 10500 calories at a week, usually less.

TDEE Calculator that considers body fat %, including light exercise since I get almost 70k steps a week, puts me at 2654 maint.18578 a week

18578 - 10500 = 8078 weekly deficit

8078 ÷ 3500 cal per lb of fat = 2.308 lb lost weekly... should be

Why has this been a painful crawl since the start? I didn't even get the initial drop you're supposed to get being that big. I don't feel tired, I don't feel fatigued. In fact I'm less tired than I've felt since I was 20.

I have to sit back and watch every. single. person. seemingly that starts around my weight just shed it off like they're sweating it out.

I am pre-diabetic, start of a fatty liver. The doctor had me on Metformin, she upped the dosage now hoping it would do something I suppuse

I don't feel like it's going to knock me off my diet, stress doesn't feel like it has the same pull toward food it used to. I just want to know why my body treats weight loss seemingly different than anyone else.

Anyone been in the same boat?
