Weird weight loss trend

So I consistently been eating healthy and working out and I have an average loss of weight per week at two pounds. This week was a little bit different. I weighed in at 183.9 last Sunday. Today, I weighed in at 176.8. I thought that couldn't be right because that would mean I lost about 7 lb in less than a week? So I tried another scale. Got the same result. I moved the scale to a different area. Same number. So somehow I was able to lose seven pounds. I don't know if I should be concerned or happy? I've never lost this much weight in a week before. Does anybody know what this could have been?

My stats: Male 5 foot 7 24 years of age Starting weight: 194.6 Current weight: 176.8 O2:. 96 BP: 114/78 HR:76

[QUESTION] effective excersize equals staying in targeted heart rate for workout duration?

Hey y'all lovely people. I've recently been expanding my understanding of working out and watching my food consumption and food choices with the help of my fitness tracker and apps like myfitnesspal. (Food choices not quite yet, still study and experimenting.)

I've finally managed to understand the usage of calorie counting and caloric deficit! On top of watching my calories in and out, I've also managed to finally build up a light routine of excersizes per week! However the effectiveness of each workout is still an unknown to me.

To be able to continue to add more fun to this weight loss journey of mine, I did more research as I know heart rate can be used as a measurement of excersizes intensity and thus, effectiveness. For a work out to be effective, you need to ideally stay in your targeted heart rate range for at least 15 to 20 mins?

I'm leaving out muscle growth and strength training for now as I work better understand what are the key variables to ensure I'm working out right for the moment as my knowledge right now is Heart rate affects calories burned and targeted heart rate over a period of time will essentially give u the amount of calories u would burn in that session if u keep within ur target heart rate for the duration of the session.

H

Hello! I’m 20F and 94.5 kg. I recently got diagnosed with IBS and it both helped and created obstacles in my weight loss journey.

I decided to use this lockdown in the most productive way possible and worked really hard to lose weight using tips from this sub. So THANKS A TON!

I began with CICO and a goal to hit 10,000 steps each day. This helped me loose 12 kgs. I should have been more consistent, there were days I stumbled and lazy days where I didn’t reach my step goal but I’m still happy with myself.

I have a bad relationship with food. My mom decided I was too fat when I was 7 and made me start dieting so I’d hide and eat in school. Going off to college made this disordered eating a monster. I was living alone for the first and would binge on all the junk food that was banned at home. Within a few months, I was piling on the weight.

This time however I’m optimistic, I started this weight loss journey, wasn’t pushed on it by my mom, and I can treat myself just once in a while in moderation. Can’t wait to share a before and after with y’all once I’m halfway to my GW

I’m 18 with the knees of a 50 year old, and need to lose weight... help

hey guys!

let me give a little bit of a background: i’m 18F, sitting at around 155lbs (down from my highest weight which was 184 a year ago)! i’ve managed over the span of a year to lose 35lbs, but gained back 5 while being completely sedentary at home for first year university, but there’s another aspect to this reason as well;

over quarantine/summertime, i began working out at home doing p90x. i’ll keep this story short, since it’s super long. basically, one day i woke up and was unable to walk bc of such bad pain in my left knee (i had an acl and meniscus reconstruction back in 2015). went to physio, got a brace, and the pain went away. now it’s back, but chronic, and in both knees. over the span of the last SIX MONTHS i’ve had an x-ray, mri, and bone scan done to try and figure out what’s wrong with both my knees, and they’re unable to figure it out. the sports doc tried putting me on heavy anti-inflammatories twice a day for the pain, but i’m 18, and want to FIX my knee pain instead of just masking it with medication, so i refused to take it.

anyways, i went to my physio again and explained how all my tests came back perfectly fine, and he suggested we try taping my knees. low and behold, it’s working (for the most part), and i have little to no pain anymore. he said he thinks it’s a kneecap issue (you would think that the actual doctor could figure out something as simple as that), and that in a few months of strengthening and taping my knees i should be back to normal.

and here we are today. i still have my knee pain, and i have a few basic exercises that i need to work on over the next month and a half until i see my physiotherapist again. but i want to continue my weight loss journey, and i have a goal of losing another 20lbs hopefully by around april/may. my issue is that i’ve relied heavily on exercise to lose weight in the past, and now that i’m extremely limited, i need to work on my eating habits and figure out exercises that i can do without hurting myself any further (i used to do weightlifting, but that’s completely out of the picture for at least another month or two).

so here’s the question to anyone who has gone through something similar or can simply offer any kind of advice: what types of exercises can i do in the gym that are EXTREMELY low impact but still burn a lot of calories? and if someone can please give me any kind of advice in terms of nutrition that’d be greatly appreciated, since i’m the type that either eats one meal a day or 5 and there’s no in between.

thanks so much for your help guys:)

tw: ED || afraid of sliding into an ED

okay so my 2 closest friends had anorexia (& bulimia) but thankfully both recovered. that’s why i kinda know a bit about EDs but of course i’m no expert whatsoever. So i apologise in advance if what i’m saying has nothing to do with EDs or is disrespectful in any way! that’s of course not my intention!

i started my weight loss journey almost 5 months ago and in the beginning, when the weight was melting even when i ate a bit too much every now and then, everything was fine. now that it’s getting harder i see myself counting my calories religiously. e.g. i ate around 250 kcal too much today, but also burned around the same calories in a 2h walk. i still feel like a fat pig. i feel like the scale is gonna show something i’m not happy with tomorrow bc i ate too much today & i have been on a plateau now for more than a week anyway.. i feel like what i’m talking about is bullshit and i know what i should rationally be thinking about all of this but i just can’t help myself feeling this way. Does anyone have tips on how to make yourself feel better on days you eat a little too much? Also, i still need to lose a few pounds so stopping my weight loss is no option

thanks in advance !!

I HAVE FINALLY COMPLETED MY WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY

After over 11 months, I have finally managed to lose 100 lbs. I started going to gym on 1st January and I was 253 lbs . I'm 5'10" 18y, male. In my country rice is a staple food and sometimes we eat it thrice a day. I loved rice and any dishes related to rice. But before I knew I had become 253 lbs. I decided that it was high time I lose my weight and initially my goal was to become 180 lbs. So, I started of by cutting rice and sugar completely. I used to have oats for breakfast, boiled vegetables and chicken for lunch and dinner (at 7 pm). I spent 3 hours at the gym daily. However, I had to quit the gym at the beginning of March due to the pandemic. I again changed my diet, tea and biscuits for breakfast, corn flakes for lunch and cucumbers and apple for dinner. I did all of my exercises at home including planks, sit ups, leg raises, squats and bicycles etc. I have continued this till today and now I am finally 153 lbs. Although, many may think that I'm only at my normal weight, I consider this my biggest achievement although I have 2 national awards as well. I've been through hell for the past 11 months for this. I've never been more confident about my looks as I am now. Even in April, I couldn't do a single push up but now I can do 60 push ups continuously and can hold the standard plank for over 30 min. I did it and I'm proud of myself for persevering. If anyone's trying to lose weight and you are thinking that it's a very tiring and lengthy process, trust me brother, it's worth it. You can do it!

Join my weight loss support group?

I really need to change my lifestyle and I think this time if I have support and people encouraging me it would be so helpful. I’m looking to start like a little support group for weight loss. We can all be besties and help each other with stuff in a healthy manner to lose weight and not trigger our eating disorders or starve ourselves. I’m thinking of making a group chat on either iMessage or Instagram let me know what you guys want? We can share pictures of our meals and discuss any physical activity we did for the day, struggles, changes, what caused us to get to this point etc. This is a long term thing I want to build relationships with people not just something temporary. I’m female 20 yrs 5’5 270lbs and I have a very long way to go. So I’m looking for similar people who have a long journey to go that way we can all see each other’s progress and it will be amazing. Leave your number(iPhone) and Instagram because I’m not sure which platform I’ll use yet for the group chat.If you’re not comfortable you can private message me your information. I look forward to this!
