Looking to lose weight, any help or tips?

Hello everyone, I’m new to reddit but I saw that there’s a very big weight loss community on here so I thought I’d give it a go. For some background information I’m 19 years old, I’m a transgender male 2.5 years on testosterone, I weigh 81 kg or 180 lbs currently (it’s my highest weight) and I’m 154 cm or 5’. Before I started my transition when I was 16/17 I fell very deep into anorexia. I have since recovered but I have gained about 70lbs from my lowest weight. I obviously don’t want to be back at my lowest weight but I would like to weigh 150-155lbs. I think part of the reason I’ve gained so much weight is a combination of the testosterone and various antipsychotic medications I’ve had to go on for my conditions. Now, my real question is for people who maybe have had similar issues to mine. How did you go about losing weight? Any exercise routines you can point me to? I’m mostly looking to lose fat and gain some muscle. I don’t want to be ripped but I want to be lean and toned. I’m already planning on talking to my doctor when I see him in a few weeks about my options as far as diets I should go on and calorie intakes and such, but I was wondering what y’all have to say about my situation. I should probably also mention that I’m vegetarian. If there’s any programs or diet plans you know of for vegetarian men looking to lose weight while gaining muscle I would genuinely appreciate it. Tia.

So I’ve started last weekend to hit a goal of having a healthy BMI for my height (5’7)

I currently weigh 260 pounds and have a problem with smoking for the past year. Combine that with overeating on junk food has caused me to have bad breathing problems. As of Saturday, I started to going back to the gym for at least an hour, eating less red meats (I also have issues with gout) while also just eating less as a start. Oh and I notice as of now I don’t have that craving to go to the store and get a pack so I must be doing something right.

Also I don’t actually drink badly fortunately because I just crave water and nothing else and even being overweight, I can’t stand drinking soda anymore.

I remember three years ago I had this same willpower and I managed to get down to 209 (funny enough starting at 260 as well) as the lowest I’ve ever hit in a long time before I started getting lazy in the past year and a half and now back to where I currently am.

What resonated with me when looking at the BMI chart was how far I am from being healthy on the BMI chart. When I saw that I was considered “extremely obese” I decided that I don’t want to continue this new decade of being obese. I want to look healthier for myself and people. I honestly don’t look flattering at all in any of my pictures that I’ve posted

I’m curious for anyone who had major weight loss if you guys had major life changes of how people perceive you?

Seeing outline of my collar bone after almost a decade.

been on a weight loss journey. First post was when I became sub 200lb.

The last month hasn't been as fruitful as I wanted it to be. But wore an old T-shirt after almost an year which used to be a tight fit. It has a wide neck. Noticed my collar bone's outline was becoming visible and that t-shirt has become a comfortable fit aswell.

I'm 193.38 lbs before exercising and 192.06 after exercising.

2.2 more lbs before I become overweight from obese class 1. Wanted it to be before end of this week, but I'll assume the additional weight is of the muscles I've gained XD.

Next update when I'm 187 or lower

Night shift workers / medical residents: sleep deprivation and weight gain?

Hey friends!

Medical resident here, and fairly educated on the weight loss literature and methods. Recently, I started a fat loss phase prepping for a family event in the summer. It coincided with rotating on to a very busy rotation where I was on call every 3 days - that is to say, 2-3 hours sleep every 3 days. I restricted on my non call days by 200-400 less than maintenance and then on call days would do one meal a day for 600+ below maintenance. After this month, I felt physically terrible... and ended up gaining 7lbs in 3 weeks. Before you ask, no there was no overnight eating, and no heavily creamed and sugared coffees. At most, my tracking was off enough to not lose weight, but I don’t know how it would be off so much to gain.

I am wondering a couple of things: 1) has anyone who works nights / crazy resident schedule like this / sleep deprivation other ways experienced something like this? (Especially if you were trying to diet) 2) ...why? 3) in any event, I think this weight gain is real (I can see it on me and feel it in my clothes, so probably not just water) - is there anything else I can do to help? I’m afraid the sleep has just completely dismantled my metabolism and I’m in a terrible place now to diet metabolically.

Would appreciate any and all thoughts!

Ticags.

Weight loss challenge starting 11th March. Everyone welcome!

Hello everyone, so as we all know summer is very fast approaching and we all want to be in the best shape we can! I personally know that I have a lot of weight to loose as I have a lot happening this year.

So, I have devised a little ‘weight loss challenge’ The rules are as such: - weigh ins every Wednesday - do min 30 mins movement/ excercise a day (this can be anything from walking to going to the gym, everyone is different!) - only drink water, you can sacrifice your other beverages for a little while, tea and coffee is allowed - do your best! Don’t be discouraged. Progress is progress, whether it’s 1lb or 20lbs!

Reply if you are interested and tomorrow morning we will all post our start weights! I will make a new post every Wednesday so we can all update. Feel free to message me if you have any questions.

This challenge will be running from the 11th of March to the 1st of July!

My personal goal is to loose 40-45lbs. What’s yours? ❤️
