I’m down 40lb! So excited!

Female 28, 5’4” SW:230lb CW:190lb GW:160lb

So when Covid started I started my weight loss journey. I want to be healthier and with covid and teleworking (and this being the first time in my life having 1 job) I finally had the time and energy to dedicate to weight loss. That and I have a whole lot less stress!

At first it was beyond frustrating CICO was always my choice on how to tackle my weight. I upped my water, increased exercise, decrease my calories, and I started loosing weight- SLOWLY.

So slowly in fact my doctor was concerned, becuase yes I consulted my doctor and kept her in the loop. We had a thyroid test done, and well nothing, no problem.

But I kept pressing on, and now I’m ok with the slow and steady. Sometimes it is frustrating seeing others post their weight loss success and they’ve lost more in a much shorter time! But at the end of the day, I can proudly say I’ve lost 40lbs so far!

It has taken a year and a half… buts it’s over half way!

I got new jeans and they don’t fit at all, I feel like shit now and I’d rather stop this weight loss journey I’m on rn

(F/165cm/73kg) I’ve order multiple jeans and I couldn’t close the button on them. I was feeling okay and pretty in my body this week. Never before was I so confident but now I just feel like I’m thrown back to zero. This whole problem may sound stupid, and you may think “eh order a size up what’s the f***** problem?”. Yeah i feel like a fat pig having to size up. My mood is just terrible now and I’d rather not eat anything or binge eat. When I look in the mirror I see small (very small) progress and I was proud but what does it matter if I’m still fat.

Can someone please help me fix this damn mindset? I can’t just not buy new clothes (I haven’t gotten new jeans in two years because I didn’t wanted to make me hate myself!)

Overate without binging!

Hello long-time lurker here, first Reddit post ever! I have been trying to lose weight from when I was ten to now (twenty-one) I was never overweight but due to society's standards, body image issues, and just being a teenaged girl I was always chasing that elusive weight loss. However, being at college, surrounded by cheap good food and alcohol, I haven't had that much luck in that department. Once getting sent home because of corona back in March of 2020, the first thing I did was weigh myself after a week-long binge of drinking, partying, and eating. I was 149.6 pounds. Again I wasn't overweight by any means, but when I came home from college freshman year I weighed 151 after being 138-142 throughout high school. I promised myself that summer as I lost my freshman 10, I would not come close to 150 again. That 149.6 pounds terrified me, how close I was to breaking that promise. So I got to work, I worked out twice a day, going on long runs (I ran XC in HS) and walks. I still did not eat as well as I should of, but I was able to slowly work my way back down to 140 which I was incredibly proud of. I got to 140 around May 2020 and was able to maintain until July 2020. Until I gained half of it back in about two months...

When reaching my goal of 140 I got careless again, and let myself revert back to my old ways, where I would overeat and then overexercise to try to work off the thousands of calories. So again, beginning of my junior year of college, I was back where I started, a few pounds lighter ~145 (September 2020) but still feeling constantly bloated, insecure, and just not feeling good. I didn't think I looked my best either, but my real motivation for losing weight was just how horrible I felt 24/7. I downloaded myfitnesspal and stuck to a diet of 1300-1700 calories a day. If I went over, seeing the red calories on the app was terrible for my mental health so I made my limit extremely high, so I wouldn't feel guilty if I ate over the limit I gave myself. Tracking my calories, practicing self-love, and giving myself patience, was what finally worked for me. From September 2020 to roughly February 2021 I went from 145 to 127/130. I maintained that from February to July 2021. However, after my parents moved to a different state in an entirely different part of the country, I began to emotionally eat and would engage in these massive binges combated with periods of undereating and overexercising to maintain my weight. Despite these efforts, I still gained roughly 2-5 pounds.

This horrible cycle continued throughout the month of July until I couldn't take it anymore and on July 25th I told myself I would no longer care about my weight, I would only focus on stop binge eating. I downloaded the apps Last and Done, to track my progress of not binging and could see the habit being formed. I have not binged or overate until today, where I completely overate at breakfast, I had about five Dunkin donuts frosted donuts. I understand this may constitute a binge for some people, but in my periods of binging if I did that, I would just spend the entire day eating, feeling completely out of control, and piling on an extra 10,000 calories. However, instead today I stopped myself, and I recognized if I continued I would trigger a binge. I feel uncomfortably full, but not sick, and most importantly I am not angry or ashamed of myself for overeating. Again this may seem silly to some people, and I not happy I overate don't get me wrong lol. But I feel like learning how to overeat without binging is a great step to ending my binging. Sorry for the completely long rant just wanted to share this with all of you because this sub has helped my weight loss so much. Also since stopping binging I've gone back to 130 without focusing on weight loss. Also, I am 5' 7'' if that matters at all, and I've been almost two weeks binge free!!!

I need some help in properly reading nutrition labels

Hey there, 5'4, 170 lbs teen girl here

I'm pretty new to the whole weight loss thing, but for the past weeks I've been doing some solid excising and dieting. Anyway, about a month or 2 ago I bought this 1.25 liter water bottle. It can hold roughly 6 cups of water, so i try to finish it twice a day. I dont know if I'm the only one, but drink 2 cups of water without doing anything kinda makes me sick, so i like to eat a small snack when i drink water. Maybe a date, a carrot, something like that. Anyway, my mom bought these lo calorie cookie/cracker things, and on the back it says its 38 calories. In general I never really understood how to comprehend the calorie count for foods like biscuits, crackers, or just any food that is multiple of the same thing. I know I'm going to sound very un educated but is each cracker 38 calories or are all the crackers combined 38 calories? Or does it work some other way? Sorry if you couldn't understand well, my english kinda sucks. Also sorry if this is the wrong sub reddit, i didnt know which one to go to

Gym or outside exersize?

Hi everyone,

A year ago I started my weight loss journey. I went from 107 kilos to 97 ( Europe, not sure how many lbs or stone that is ). It could have been more but I dont exersize much. Partly I blame my cat who has separation anxiety but also I just don't go out that much.

Now the fact is,I live across from a 24/7 gym. If I wake up at night and look outside I can see people working out. When I'm watching TV or cooking, I can see people working out.

Now I have a bike and 2 legs so I could go cycling or running or walking but I just don't. Back in the day I used to go to the gym and I loved it but something in me is asking me how is the gym different from being outside. Save yourself the cash and go out.

I dont do much strength exersize, mostly cardio because I love it. I was addicted to just one hour a day going all out in the gym when I was younger.

How do you guys think about outside exersize vs gym exersize. Did anyone had the same experience? What should I do ?

Weight loss through cardio??? Is it as impossible as people make it out to be?

Stats: 5'2, 14f, sw: 170lbs (ish), cw: 144lbs, gw: 120-130lbs

Is it true that doing no exercise other than cardio actually prevents weight loss? I've heard this multiple times but I've never seen any explanation for why. Of course I know that running alone won't necessarily result in weight loss, and that it mostly comes from cico, but I've been told that doing mostly cardio for exercise completely prevents weight loss regardless of whether or not you're in a calorie deficit.

I'm just curious because running is really the only physical activity I enjoy. Weight training honestly feels like a chore. I don't enjoy doing it, I want to exercise to relax and weight training takes too much focus for me to do that.
