My 14 kg meat jacket

It's summer now and it's 30° almost every day.

A year ago when it was this hot I started my weight loss and apart from looking great, one hope was that going from 74 kg to 59 kg would maybe make the heat more bearable. I refered to my excess weight as my "meat jacket and pants".

Now, I am delighted to find that indeed the heat has become more tolerable. I still sweat like a pig as soon as I start moving (it runs in the family), but I find that with the same amount of sweat I feel less hot and when I sit down somewhere in the shade I now don't sweat at all anymore, being able to sustain a good temperature without it.

And that's on top of now being able to wear even shorter shorts because my chub rub has almost completely gone away.

Has anyone else experienced relief in summer?

NSV - I can fit into my sports bras and skinny jeans!

Long time lurker, first time poster! I’m so excited and happy! I ordered these sports bras off amazon last year, and I received a size smaller than I needed. I kept them (because I’m broke haha) and now I finally fit them! I couldn’t fit them over my shoulders before!

I can also fit into my skinny jeans from last year! I wanted to be able to lose enough so that I didn’t have to replace my summer clothes and it looks like I reached that goal a lot faster than I expected to.

It’s been hard for me since I have fibromyalgia, and this past year has been so rough I had to put a few long term plans on hold. I wanted to feel like I was still accomplishing something, started logging food every day, even if I went over my limits. I’m practicing portion control which has made the biggest difference in my weight loss, and striving to drink 2.5 L+ of water per day. I’ve been logging everything with my FitBit and using their app. I have successfully cut out soda and juice completely, and my headaches are better too!

I’m so excited for what this year will hold. Thanks for being there r/loseit!

Success with the 2 week, Potato only diet?

I am currently 6 days into the diet Penn Jillette used to kickstart his weight loss. For two weeks eat only potatoes. No salt, no butter, just baked potatoes. The idea is to reset your taste buds and then relearn eating habits that are healthier.

It has been very difficult, and I've been having dreams and cravings for desserts like never before, but I like this extreme idea because it is a challenge with an end goal (two weeks)

I am wondering if anyone else has tried this and has had long term success with actually changing your cravings and improving long term nutrition/weight management once it's over.

How did you set your final goal?

i’m nearing my goal, depending on how i look at it. i can’t decide what weight i want to stop at, or when and if i’ll ever be satisfied with my goal. i’m 5’8 F with a goal of 145-135 (currently 152, started at 191), and i’m just at a loss. i don’t want to be a super toned muscle maniac (props to those who can pull it off), but i also want to drop some of this dough. i can’t decide if i want to keep my curves, but i also have a health condition that only seems to improve with more weight loss, so i’m torn.

what points went into your decision to stop at a certain point? for those who have hit their goal, do you fluctuate or monitor it closely to assure it doesn’t move around? do you plan on stopping short of your goal to reduce more “sag” or other cosmetic things? i’m curious to hear everyone’s experiences.

Feeling lost !

I have been overweight for as long as I can remember and earlier this year I started working toward weight loss and getting healthy. I managed to lose 20 lbs which was outstanding because I have never successfully and intentionally lost weight before. Some family issues came up and I completely fell off of my routine. I just kept telling myself that once the issues were over I would get back on the horse. It has been nearly a month now that my life has been back to normal and I haven’t been able to get myself to go to the gym or count calories again. I literally just drove by the gym today with my gym bag in my car. What should I do to motivate myself? It’s very easy for me to go to a negative head space when it comes to getting healthy but I was doing to well and now I’m so disappointed in myself.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

I didnt go for seconds and im very proud of myself.

Today we had a family get together in which my uncle cooked hot dogs. I ate one and tracked every calorie in it. I got up, stuffed, but wanting more. As I got to the grill, I was conflicted. "If I ate another one, I would go over my calorie limit". "It's okay it's only one." as I'm barely starting my weight loss journey, it was a bit of a challenge for me, but I decided not to get another, and instead I just sat back down and drank my water. I'm very proud of myself, because I know that if I had gotten seconds, I would have gone full binge mode and ruined my diet once again. But I didn't. im only 2 days into calorie tracking and exercising, but I feel so much better already. I'm also a week binge free!! This subreddit motivates me a lot. thank you all!!
