6 days of deficit+ 1 caloric surplus per week?

I'm female, 14 years old, 5'2, and 130 lbs. My main goal is to lose fat and tone my body, and just get healthier. To maintain weight, I'm supposed to eat 1800 calories, so from Monday to Saturday I've been eating 1500 calories or a little less. I've also been running on an elliptical for 30 minutes and doing some arm exercises with ten pound dumbells if I had time left for 5 out of the 6 days (I rest on Thursday). This counts to around 7000 net calories (total amount of calories minus calories burned by elliptical) or less per week, not counting Sunday. On Sunday, should I consider it a 'cheat day' and have a caloric surplus with foods I like? I eat out with my family, so I find this a lot more easier. From Monday to Saturday I don't eat any junkfood and my macros stick close to 30-40 percent protein, 30-50 percent carbs, and less than 40 percent fat. With a decently high deficit like this, should I consider a cheat day once a week with a higher amount of calories with the foods I've been craving throughout the week? If so, how many calories should I eat that day? I've heard things on the internet that too much of a deficit can slow weight loss, so I'm curious. Thank you for listening!

Shake replacing breakfast

I am F 33 height 184 and weigh 123.5kg with an Initial goal weight of 87kg.

I have lost 4.5kg in the last five weeks via dietitian eating plan.

I weigh in weekly and discuss progress fortnightly - today I gained 200grams after an 800gram loss last week.

I don’t understand why and it was a little upsetting given how much effort I am making with food and exercise.

My dietitian has now asked me to replace breakfast with a shake which I am doing for a week to see how I go. I really don’t want to have ‘shakes’ as part of my eating - becuase I have done them before and was very disordered with them. He acknowledged this and said it would only be while I am in the weight loss phase.

I just have a lot of weight to lose and it seems like a shake is going to be part of that plan now.

I walk 3.6klms per day (hilly) in 36mins.

Does anyone have a perspective on this? My plan includes coke which i am working with him to cut out.

I'm no longer obese! 29.8 BMI

This is my first post since the start of my weight loss journey. I'm 33, male, 6'4", starting weight of 285 and current weight 245. After getting married this last June and getting the pictures back I was not feeling good about how big I was. I was always a bigger guy but pretty active, have had back issues for the last 8 years (2 degenerative herniated discs L4/L5/S1) and right after the wedding I hurt my back again and was laid up for 3 weeks. Went to go see my doctor to get a physical, my first in a long while, and after some physical and blood tests he was very forward with me saying I was drinking too much and needed to lose weight. Wanting to make sure I could spend as much time on this earth as possible with my amazing wife I told myself I need to change and make it permanent.

I already ate pretty good food and didn't drink soda except for a once every two month bottle of Mexican Coke. My problem was that I would eat like someone was going to take it from me. Ate so fast I wouldn't feel full until I already ate too much. I started reducing my portions and tried my best to eat slowly. I also stopped drinking on "school nights." Since making these changes I don't need as much food and saw the weight start to shed off. I ride my bicycle to work everyday and walk at least 15+ flights of stairs a day, plus 2-3 mile walks with the doggo. It didn't dawn on me to check my BMI until today as I always hated it, but now I can look at it and not feel shameful. I'm not done by any means, but other than my wife and doc I couldn't think of anyone else I would feel comfortable telling this news. So here I am.

Hopefully this will be read by someone who is afraid of making big changes and realize sometimes you don't have to have wholesale sweeping changes and starve yourself or kill yourself at the gym, you may just need to change one or two things.

I'm down 12 lbs and nervous

Hey guys! First off this sub has been one of the biggest stepping stones for me in all of my weight loss history so I want to thank the community.

For the past couple years, I've yo-yoed my weight quite a lot, trying to lose and by the end gaining about 2-4 lbs more.

Ever since I joined this sub I've been doing really well. I ate healthy for a whole month straight and lost 12lbs. The most I've ever lost!

I've gained a couple back. On Valentine's Day I was hanging w my buddies and decided to have a cheat day, as we were having a small party-like get together thing. Every time I do this it's my downfall. Since Valentine's Day I've been eating not "healthy" but not super "unhealthy" either. But I'm having trouble getting back into the healthy mindset.

Although I need to lose 30 more lbs, I'm looking good, which sucks bc it strips me of my motivation. It makes me make exceptions for myself.

I really really felt like this one was the one where I do it. Probably about my 15th attempt or so in the past couple years but this one felt so different. I really don't wanna lose it but I still find myself caving for unhealthy food at night.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated if you guys have it. Love you guys ✌️

Plateaued after 8 Pounds

Hello all!

I am excited that I will be getting my gallbladder removed next month. It's a wake up call; gallstone pain was insane! Since my 3-day long attack occurred 3-4 weeks ago, I've changed my diet to lower fat, healthier foods. I'm not really following a specific diet. I'm sure I need more veggies. I'm just being more careful. Smaller, more frequent meals....no fast food. I was binging fast food for over a month in depression when I found out my boyfriend was cheating.

Anyway! This past Tuesday, I've lost my 8th pound. I've weighed myself everyday for almost 3 weeks. I have an app that works with my scale via bluetooth. This week, though, I have been going up and down between 183.8 -184.4 versus losing about 0.4-0.6 pounds a day.

To add, I am a woman standing only at 5'0". I'm going to be 30 in September and I really need to be happy at 30!

I am scheduled to menstruate starting today or tomorrow based on my calendar. Have any other women experienced a plateau a week prior to menstruating? In past experiences of attempting weight loss, I had this issue. This time, I am extremely serious about losing weight, especially since I'm afraid to eat badly to cause another attack. It is very frustrating to see the weight loss just stop.

I know exercise is important, but until this thing is out of my body, as this area is tender, I want to start after I heal up from surgery.

Thanks everyone!

Huge reduction in resting heart rate, and I'm not a bottomless pit anymore. Halfway to goal, progress pics included!

First off, holy shitballs, I can't believe how well CICO is working for me. I keep thinking it's not real. I'm still eating over 1700 calories/day, that can't possibly be a 1000cal/day deficit...but it must be, because I'm consistently losing about 2 lbs/week. My weight loss has been oddly linear and predictable, I've never had a gain week over week. AND I eat back my exercise calories, which everyone says not to do. 52 pounds down in 21 weeks (started Oct. 1, 2018 at 295lbs, 5'9", 33/F).

Pics or it didn't happen: https://imgur.com/a/iZ7hnse

Resting heart rate improvement is a big NSV for me. Mine used to be quite high, usually around 85 BPM, with a record of 91 BPM. High end of the "normal" range (60-100 BPM). After the first month of CICO my average had already dropped by about 10 BPM. Since then it's been a lot slower decline, but my new normal is about 70 BPM, and yesterday I saw my all-time lowest: 66 BPM!

Another thing I'm excited about is lack of stomach elasticity. I learned recently that when you go from eating excessively to eating small portions, your stomach (organ) doesn't actually shrink, it just becomes less capable of expanding to fit large amounts of food. On the one day per month that I let myself go over my calorie limits, I can't cram that much food in me. It's honestly a little frustrating when you've planned a day of Dionysian decadence for your birthday and you want to CONSUME MASS QUANTITIES! eat ALL the cheesecake! and your dumb tummy can't handle more than a few bites...it's going to take getting used to. But it's much easier to feel full with smaller portions, and I know this is good for me.

I'm over halfway to my initial goal of losing 100lbs! Hooray for the first law of thermodynamics!!
