Down 30lbs (an intuitive eating post)

Today I weighed myself and realized I was at my prequarantine weight! I lost my best friend to a drug overdose in July of 2020 and so I gained quiet a bit of weight in the last two years. I’ve been going to the gym about 4 times a week and doing intuitive eating (I have a severe case of Binge Eating disorder so this is what has worked for me.) I do track my food but I only do it to track my protein and fiber intake. I usually get around 2000-2200 calories a day and I have 1 hour long training sessions. There are so many restrictive posts I see on here so I wanted to let someone out there know- you can focus on recovery without an insanely restrictive diet. My cupboards have the treats I like, I have access to my trigger foods and I have given myself permission to buy them again when I run out. This concept was completely foreign to me two months ago as I thought I needed to “get it out of the house by tonight so I can start my diet tommorow.” These trigger foods are no longer “sacred” to me though and are just building blocks to a meal. I’ve focused on what I can add in instead of what I can take out. I also have adhd so there are seven or eight meals I know will always be accessible even on lower functioning days. I’ve never stayed on a weight loss routine for more than a week- so if you’re out there and looking hard for something- I hope you know it’s possible to find food freedom and reach your goals.

Weight gain immediately after surgery?

Hi! I have been on a weight loss journey since July. I weigh a couple of times each week to keep an eye on my progress and have pretty much figured out what works for me. About 10 days ago, I had surgery to remove my appendix. I was in the hospital for about 3 days hooked up to IV’s and antibiotics. Before surgery, they weighed me which was accurate to what I weigh at home. Once I got home, I weighed myself and I was up about 7 lbs. I figured this was due to fluids and medications since I barely ate in the hospital. It’s now been 10 days but I haven’t lost those 7 pounds. Is this normal after surgery? How long does it last?

The last 10 lbs I have lost took me FOREVER - to see the scale right back up there is so disheartening 😞

Personal Gains, just need to say

Size XXL to M, 46 to 32.

I was big. Ten years ago it was a toxic relationship, a toxic coping. etc etc

End relationship. Start living again.

So from over 120+ kg I dropped to under 100 kg over 5 or more years. I really only noticed when there was a full hand space of extra waistline in my jeans.

Over the next year or two I hit a plateau and tried many things. Protein shakes, Caveman diet, 5/7 IF, super low calorie, progressive macro elimination, ridiculous exercise regime. Just a slow crawl of weight loss.

Around 18 mths ago I went to a plant based diet to try and cut down the amount of anti-inflammatory meds I was on. A few months in and on with many other advantages I noticed some weight loss.

Last few months I've been having trouble with clothes. Again. Thought I had dropped down below 40 and was pretty happy with that milestone. Bought some XL clothes and belts for 38 ish. Nothing seemed to work.

Went to shops and got some size 36 pants thinking it should be pretty safe. Perfect fit. First day wearing them at work? Nope. Too big. Got home and noticed.... Not 36, 34. I'm..... A size .... 32.... Ish.

I have dropped over 10 pant sizes lol. Casual shirts from squeezing into an XXL to a Medium. Dress shirts from a throat suffocating 44/46 to a 35.

Exercising at a moderate rate, mostly vegetarian diet, mostly whole food, almost no carbs or bread is working for me. I can eat meat when I really want. I can eat cake if I reaaallly need to, occasionally.

It really has been a difficult journey with no straight path. I Just hope others can find their own goals and meet their own milestones.

Starting again for the first time

A bit of a rambling post. I realized I've never really dieted. I feel like I've been on autopilot. I tend to live in my head alot, so I'd say I've been practicing body neutrality before it was a thing. Most of my family are big, my mom and aunts have always been about sizes 10-18, with one aunt much larger. My cousins vary in sizes, but all the women are extremely curvy, even at a petite size 2-4. All that said, I never desired to be thin. At my smallest I was a 8-10, with little effort. I lived alone, worked a lot, walked everywhere, and was always doing something( I was 23, and having the time of my life). I meet my partner, had a kid and my life totally changed. I hit 200lbs, and gained +47lbs battling ppd. I slowly lost over 10 years, but I fell back into depression during the pandemic. Today I weight 213(my pre- 2020 weight) I have finally decided to actively pursue weight loss. A YT video about a woman's weight loss journey really clicked something in me. Weightloss is supposed to be finite. And I had never thought of it like that. I've been fine losing a few lbs a month, slow and steady. But getting older, and seeing my family suffer weight related illnesses has made me want to get healthy. So I'm excited to really give it my all for the first time.

Motivated...for the wrong reason? So be it.

For the past few months I've been battling with losing weight. This past weekend I was trying on jackets at a store and my bf suggested I go for a larger size, I insisted that losing a few more pounds I could fit into medium sized jacket I wanted. He then told me that he didn't think I would lose weight. "You will either stay the same or get bigger." Those words hurt so much. Yes he tries to help me with the things that I eat but most of the time he's doubtful that I am even trying. I told him "Fine...I'll show you."

Now I am more determined than ever to lose the weight. Currently 5'1 / 178 lbs

What my rewards system looks like:

160lbs - New hiking backpack

150lbs - Cartlidge piercing

140lbs - Spa Day (Facial, massage, mani, pedi)

130lbs - Tattoo

125lbs - The jacket I wanted in the size I wanted & boudoir photoshoot

Tonight I will take my before pictures and will post them as I meet each weight loss goal.

I'm determined.

might have set myself back with my weight loss, but i took a big step towards recovering from my binge eating disorder today!

i’ve been really off track for months now. i haven’t actually made much progress since may. i finally got back into the swing of things last week and got down to a new lowest weight. i was really proud of myself and happy but i went out of town this weekend and lost all control. i binged so much friday and saturday that i thought i might throw up. i felt sore and exhausted and my stomach hurt so bad. i came home yesterday to find that i had gone right back up to where i was before last week. i was really disappointed with myself and i’ve been feeling so gross ever since. i got off work today and was so tempted to come home and just binge again because i felt so horrible. but i don’t want to keep falling down that hole. it doesn’t benefit me in anyway. instead i stopped at dutch bros on the way home and got one of my favorite drinks (sugar free revel with sugar free syrup so it’s basically 0 calories!) and came home and decided to do some self care. i put on a face mask and made a bath for myself and i feel so much better mentally. i’ve been feeling so bad about myself all day, but instead of sulking about it, i decided to be kind to myself and treat myself. i’m going to dedicate the rest of today to self care. i’m really proud of myself because normally i would just sit in my bed and spiral and end up binging, but i didn’t today! i know i set myself back with my weight loss, but i’m happy that i’m moving forward with treating my binge eating disorder which i know will help me in the long run. just wanted to share with someone! :)
