Rapid weight loss after....working out less?

My situation is odd, but essentially I have been unable to maintain my regular workout schedule (Usually 3-4 times a week, bro-split type lift routine) since getting a new puppy. My sleep schedule is wacky, I have been unable to leave the house and thus my workout routine has been shot. It has only been a few weeks but my weight seems to be dropping somewhat rapidly.

I typically sit around 188-193, but am now at 181 and seemingly going down. I don't suspect this is "muscle loss" since it has only been a few weeks. Has anyone experienced weight loss after working out less? Am I being naïve and actually losing muscle weight?

[For context I am a Male/6'2/33 years old]

Calorie calculations making my head spin

I'm using the nhs weightloss app to calculate my calorie intake, all I put in was my height and weight and they did the calculation that I need to be eating between 1600-2100 calories a day, seems excessive to me but I am recovering from an ED so I'm just trying to relearn and have healthier eating habits but I'm staying on the lower end of 1600. I thought to find out how exactly to calculate my own personal bmr, maintenance calories and so on thinking ill get a better idea of how many calories I should actually be looking to eat but it's way higher than I thought, it's crazy! So here are my stats - I'm 72kg, 164cm and 24 years old, using an equation from myprotein.com I calculated my bmr is 1464 and since I'm moderately active I multiplied that by 1.84 and got 2708 as my maintenance!!! Then I looked at my average calories burned on fitbit (I always wear a tracker) and it's between 2500-3000 a day so I went for the lower and since my net calories should be atleast 500 less than my bmr for weight loss which is 965 i added them both to have an idea of how many calories i could be eating (965+2500=3465). Did I get that right?! My daily calories in and out should look to be 3465 (in) - 2500 (out) = 965 (net) That seems absolutely crazy to me, 3400 calories looks like my binge days, I never eat more than 2000 and on my restrictive days it was less than 800 (which I'm not doing anymore, it was not healthy). If my calculations are right, why am I not loosing as much anymore? Do I need to be eating more to loose which does not make sense. Please tell me my calculations are wrong 😬 Do I stay with 1600? I've hit a plateau for the past 2-3 weeks and don't want to fall into my restrictive and binging cycle again.

Artificial sweeteners causing crazy cravings!

So I’ve been on a slow weight loss per my doctor - I have a couple of joint and digestive issues that could use it! Throughout my teenage years I seriously suffered for binge eating. The past few years I’ve been miles better - while I definitely have over-indulged a few times, I’ve felt the fullness and enjoyment of having another piece, but stopping there. This is totally opposed to binging, where I quite literally cannot stop eating, and it feels like my stomach is never full. I’ve eaten full frozen bags of broccoli, family sized chips, cartons of milk, entire packages of chocolates - so basically it doesn’t matter what I’m eating, and even if I’ve had a full balanced day of eating, I just feel the uncontrollable urge to eat more. I attended a nutritionist and therapist and it completely helped!

Recently, I have been using products with sweeteners in them, like yogurts, fruit juices etc. I had been avoiding them for years due to my stomach sensitivity, but it seemed like I could handle them. Lo and behold, after years of not binging I’ve found myself insanely digging into my pantry and eating everything the past couple of nights to the point of severe pain. If you’ve never binged before, its hard to get the impulse across. It quite literally feels like you’re addicted.

I’ve been racking my brain thinking what I have changed in my life the past week or so - not stress, lifestyle, I’m still eating the same diet - apart from a LOT more sweeteners! It’s not a depravation thing either - I always keep track and room for my sweet treats, and eat a balanced diet of carbs, protein and fats.I’m totally convinced they’ve triggered it, which is pretty scary. I’m going to bin or give away everything I got and see what happens over the next week or so.

Has anyone else experienced crazy cravings or binging due to sweeteners?

How weight loss affected your dating life?

I'm (26M) trying to lose weight from 300lbs to target 200lbs with lifting weights and lots of cardio.

I sometimes lose motivation when going to gym and I'm always dreaming getting a cold-served revenge from my ex-gf with looking good and sharp. We break up not just because I gained 70 lbs in last year but it was one of the most important reason because I wasn't looking up for myself. I didn't shave my beard and I didn't get a haircut for months because I was depressed of gaining weight.

I don't want to go back to dating with new girl until I lose it all because I don't have a small bit of self-confidence because of my look. Even I want to I can't get any match from dating apps and I believe it is because of my photos.

I'm 182 cm in height but have a huge belly. My face is looking good overall but you can tell from my face that I'm fat.

Can you tell me your experiences how the girls you already know treated differently -or your ex- after they see you in a different shape? Was it a good revenge?

The Problem With Being in a Fat Family

Like 90% of my immediate family is fast. Of course, there are those lucky few who are just naturally skinny. I am so tired of fat families making weight loss a bad thing. Why are you saying, "you don't look fat!" Ofc I don't look fata I'm in a family with people who are fatter than me! I'm 199 and 5'7, I'm fat! Tired of people telling me I don't need to lose weight and that I'm perfect. We are all (mostly) fat here. We all need to lose weight. People in my family are so used to fat people they don't even see it! Damn!

Anyways, I'm 8 pounds down. I was diagnosed with PCOS a few weeks ago and have been on metformin. I hope this metformin will help me lose more weight. I want to be healthy and get laid. I want to be desirable. I don't like being fat! Stop saying I'm not fat! Anyone else have a family like this? Eating healthy is not bad! It's okay to not want to be fat. I don't need to be some confident Lizzo or anything. I'm fat and I hate it. I'm changing it.

Sorry for the pointless rant. I should be telling my family lol.

My body is working against me

F/31/5'3/187lbs

I’m having this issue in my weight loss journey that I hope someone can help me with.

Walking is my favourite form of exercise. I love it. I put on my shoes, my headphones, I start walking and I forget about the world. My problem is that my feet hate walking. By the time I reach 4,000 steps, they are screaming in pain. A year ago, I went to a podiatrist and got custom orthotics because apparently I have high arches, but they haven’t really helped much. I’ve tried all kinds of shoes (at least two pairs were approved by the podiatrist) and that hasn’t helped either.

Has anyone had this issue? Does the pain lessen in time when your feet have less weight to handle? Do I just have to power though the pain until it gets better? I know starting little by little is the key, but I’m barely reaching 5,000 steps a day, so it’s not like I’m walking marathons. I work from home and don’t move much during the workday, so I would love to be able to reach at least 8,000 steps everyday. Not only because I enjoy it, but because it would make losing weight so much easier. I’ve tried cardio and strength training, but walking is the only exercise I can do consistently.

Stay in a deficit or indulge for your birthday?

20F. 5'4. SW: 152. CW: 134. GW: 125.

Hi, again r/loseit. My birthday is this Friday and it is causing me a lot of anxiety for my weight loss journey. I don't know whether to just push through and stay in my deficit while still enjoying my favorite birthday foods - just in my calorie range. Or, indulge and not worry about the calories. Can one day really set you back a lot? Is it worth it? I just want some outside opinions, or maybe tips on how to stay consistent throughout celebrations like this.
