Sorry for the rant but please help.

SW - 350 lbs ( Sept 1 ) CW - 299.6 lbs ( Dec 22 ) GW - 200 lbs for now

M, 5’11, age 21

Okay so, I don’t know why but everyday I find something to hate about my body. One day it’s my saggy moobs, the other day it’s my waist and thigh fat, or my back acne, or my hair and honestly it’s just never ending. I have always been a sort of extrovert I feel and have had relationships/ multiple partners etc etc but Even if I show confidence I don’t feel confident from the inside. I am a university student with good grades, amazing internship w good paying tech role etc but I still feel like such a failure. Ever since my childhood I have been carrying this weight and it has caused me a lot of pain in my life. I started my weight loss journey for the first time this September and have lost 50 lbs since. All I do is eat 1500-2000 calories and try to walk 10,000 steps 4 days a week. At first I was having great progress but now I am stuck. This month in 21 days I have only lost 4 pounds. Granted I have been eating from outside a bit but I still try to stay in my calorie goal and not eat fast food. I most get Indian or Chinese. Can someone help me with what I should be eating and what I should be doing to lose more weight. If I go out what are some things I can eat? Also will my chest, hips and waist regain shape as I lose weight or is it a lost cause.

Thanks guys

As it turns out..

I’ve been trying to improve my weight and overall health for quite some time now, mostly unsuccessfully. I ended up having a small medical emergency that sparked the attention of my doctors office, and after a couple of months of visits and calls and tests they have determined an underlining health condition that SERIOUSLY impacts my ability to see benefits from exercise, sustain a healthy diet, and loose weight. Today we discussed a treatment plan that should significantly help my weight loss journey along. They anticipate it will be about 6 weeks until they can confirm the treatment plan makes sense and is working but it’s a start. It makes me so sad to think all this time I’ve been beating myself up for not seeing the results I want despite my best efforts, when it was really mostly out of my control without having this piece of the puzzle. As cliché as it sounds, I’m hoping in this new year I can bring about the positive changes in my life with this new game plan. Here’s to hoping….

Fluctuations are ruining my peace of mind

I’m only aiming for a 15-20lb weight loss, to put me back to my base weight before my alcoholism stint, which was 120lbs at 5’6”.

Yes, that is thin, but I never had to try to maintain it. I ate what I wanted; my appetite is naturally small; I didn’t work out. After curling up in a bottle for 6-10 months, I gained 36lbs. That’s from my lowest weight ever—116lbs, which is probably about 10lbs under my “happy weight.”

So the amount I have to lose is minimal, which is a double edged sword. At 140lbs right now (151 starting), I am healthy, but I’m not happy with how I look. I’m small-boned and soft and my body looks best at 125-130.

I’ve been trying to keep an average of 1000-1200 cals per day, as my TDEE is only about 1900. I’ve lost 10lbs since October, but the fluctuations on the scale are legitimately disturbing my peace of mind.

I went on a camping trip, ate minimally, and exercised about 3x as much as I normally would. Walking, hiking, climbing steep inclines. I came back hoping and praying to see 139…. and it’s 142.

I’ve been weighing myself once a week on my boyfriend’s scale as my own is wildly inaccurate. But the downside of that is that it’s a crapshoot whether I’m weighing myself on a day I’m holding water, not holding water, etc. I also realized it’s the 22nd and my period is around the 30th so the scale is just going to continue to creep up.

Feeling deflated and disheartened. When you’ve only lost 10lbs, seeing a 3lb fluctuation is just devastating.

I hit 50lbs lost in 6 months with diet and strength training, even though quite a few people didn't think it would work.

I am by no means done, but I hit my goals for the year this week. When I started in June I failed a 180lb bench press, and was 385lbs. This week I hit my first 300lb bench press, and a 200lb overhead press all while being right at 50lbs lost. That made me very happy.

A lot of people told me I wouldn't be able to be on a calorie restriction and keep pushing, but I came up with a diet that worked. 5 meals a day, all smaller. Egg whites and fruit for breakfast, oats for meal 2, salad for lunch, a protein shake before work is over, and a healthy dinner like chicken and rice. It's hard to get enough protein for someone my size and not have a lot of calories, but it has worked for me. I do also use a pre workout, and a BCAA mix while I'm working out. It's debatable if BCAA helps, but it definitely doesn't hurt.

My main thing is I was never successful just trying to see the scale go down. Now that I work out a lot and focus on weight I'm lifting instead of the scale going down, it has kept me motivated.

I'm sure I'm not the only one, but maybe someone else can see this and realize there are other ways to approach weight loss.

Entering my Villain Era Losing Weight This Time...Very Pissy, Angry, Disgruntled

Hello all,

So let me give you some backstory...four or five years ago in college I weighed about 331lbs...eventually I got down to 211 and that's been the lowest I've been. That period of weight loss was far from healthy, mentally and physically...I started off full keto (mistake #1) and lost about 50lbs just from that. Then I started in the gym, falling in love with working out...something I still love today. I was training for a triathlon at the time so doing an insane amount of cardio (like 3-4 hours a day) and had eventually shifted to a full vegan diet where I got down to 211. Love the way I looked, love the way I felt but was totally unsustainable.

Fast forward now...life, work, relationships all got in the way and I gained allll my weight back except for like 10lbs. I have tried on and off the past year to try to get into a good mindset to lose weight the right way through CICO and exercise. The last three weeks I have killed it in the gym, burning like 1,200+ calories per my Apple watch (I know not super reliable but still) through lifting and cardio. I have a trainer writing all my workouts so I know they aren't an issue. I also do two days of Crossfit a week so working out is not the issue. I've been tracking my macros very closely, eating around 2,300 calories one week, bumping down to 2,200 the next and 2,100 last week. Throughout all the last three weeks I have managed to gain 0.5lbs.

Now I know what you're going to say about muscle gain and all that noise, that's great. I know building muscle burns fat and that could be what's happening but even if that were the case, with such a deficit and the amount of cardio I'm doing there should be no way I'm still gaining weight, at least in my mind. Maybe I need to up my calories? I'm very close to hiring a nutritionist to handle all this shit for me because it sucks lol

Thanks for all the motivation on this sub though, you guys keep me going.

How do I get rid of my weight loss plateau

So its been over 3 weeks and I’ve been stuck at 75kg after losing 10kg over the span of 6 months, I wanted to lose at least another 5kg before end of December but I’ve just been stuck on 75kg. I tried upping my workouts and have been hitting 10k steps daily, I even had a cheat day to go over my normal calorie intake of 1200, then went back to normal, I just don’t know what to do anymore and it’s really making me anxious, does anyone have any tips? Shall I lower my calorie intake even more?
