How to transition to maintenance?

I have been on a weight loss journey since May 2020 and I’m finally at a weight I would like to maintain. I have lost almost 50 lbs. I have been using the lose it app to track calories and exercise with my daily goal at 1200 calories. Now that I’m at a weight I would like to maintain, how do I transition my eating patterns to not gain weight? I am so used to eating at a deficit I am resisting eating more and exercising less because I’m scared of gaining. I am 37 F

How important are macros for weight loss?

My maintenance calories are about 1700-1800 and I’m trying to eat under 1400 to lose a couple of pounds. I know it’s advised to aim for more protein and less carbs but the thing is, it’s not always possible for me.

I eat lunch at work and they don’t always offer protein-heavy, low-carb options (I can’t bring my own food for several reasons). Sometimes I get a bad craving for cake and allow myself to have a slice as long as it fits my daily calories. Sometimes I forget to eat. I try to eat more protein and veggies but I’m not super strict about it, I just watch my calories.

Will I still be losing weight or should I start counting my macros as well? I’m not looking to gain muscle just yet, only slim down.

Weight Loss

Hi, I'm an 18 yr old male and I weigh 245 lbs and I would like to lose about 4 pounds a week consistently. I want to lose 90 lbs which I've done in the past with a crash diet eating 1600 calories of horrible food with a very sedentary lifestyle in around 11 months and I ended up gaining it all back. Just Starting my current weight loss journey I'm jogging 5 miles a day 5 times per week burning around 700 calories while I'm eating about 1700 calories a day and I'm now eating much healthier food nutrition wise. Will this method get me to my goal in that amount of time? I realize this may be unhealthy because I'm technically eating around 1000 calories per day and I'm open to other options along as they can get me to my goal in around 4 months another month or 2 is ok. Start of my weight loss journey + First month's progress.

Uh, I don't use reddit often and only joined last December so apologies if this if formatted weird.

TLDR; My weight loss since the start of the year is 21lbs/9.5kg, going from 318lbs/144kg to 297lbs/134.7kg.

17F, 5'6. I'm graduating high school this year, and I'm starting to take initiative on getting my weight (~318lbs/144kg) under control. I've struggled with binge eating since I was a preteen, and it seemed every effort I made to try and lose weight would result in me just gaining it all back. My mental health was awful last year, I completely stopped taking my medication for my ADHD and depression, and neglected every part of my health.

A doctor's trip during December ended up with me being diagnosed me as prediabetic, but I still have the chance to turn that around before it gets serious. My new year's resolution was the same as most people: Lose weight. I don't know what snapped in me, but I was pretty hell bent on getting my shit together. I started taking my medication again, and stopped laying in bed all day. I got up and started making myself real meals instead of eating hoards of junk food and drinking soda. I looked up nutritional information, started counting calories and went pretty heavy on exercise. Or, well, walking. I spent a good majority of my days just walking outside. I was outside walking for about 5/6 hours a day. I spent most of that time calling my boyfriend and chatting about the latest news on our favorite games, movies, TV shows, ECT. If I wasn't on the phone with my boyfriend, or another one of my friends, I'd be listening to a podcast on Spotify.

I stepped on a scale for the first time in a week, I hadn't checked it in a while and just focused on keeping my routine in-tact. I was pretty shocked to see I had dropped down to 297lbs, it was the first time in almost a year that I had been under 300lbs. Most people say you don't really notice your weight loss this early, but even with 21lbs my face looks much, much slimmer. I feel more energetic all around, and my favorite pair of pants is already growing looser on me.

I just feel so much better, and healthier. I'm really proud of the progress I've made and I want to share it with other people.

How do I get started on the journey? My blood work numbers are concerning

Hi everyone! Not sure if anyone will respond to this and that’s alright if they don’t just writing this out is the first step. I (24m CW 240 GW 210) would like to start my weight loss journey. I have tried in 2022 and just kept failing. A few months ago I got some blood work done at a plasma donation center and was told I couldn’t even donate because my triglycerides and cholesterol were too high. This was obviously concerning and I tried cutting out some fatty foods and was doing alright for a while but I would get hungry and just cave in almost every night.

I am just so sick of failing. I want to create a healthier future and don’t want to risk getting heart disease or diabetes in the future because I was too weak to control my eating. Every day I would write reminders on my phone to eat healthier and lower cholesterol and although I might eat a healthy breakfast, inevitably I would consume lots of foods high in saturated fats and cholesterol. I have to say that eating those high calorie foods is satisfying but I usually feel shitty about my weight and me risking my health afterwards. I was wondering if anyone can relate to my situation. I just ruined my diet for the day after going to an all you can eat Chinese buffet and stuffing myself and now I’m disappointed in myself. Does anybody have any ideas on what to eat for meals that are filling but healthy? Or any tips to reduce the cravings and actually lose weight and lower cholesterol and fat.

I'm 5'0, mayyyybe lightly active, and I can't stop snacking/overeating. by a lot.

TL;DR I'm 5'0, somewhat active, but can't find a way to control my overeating. Gained 4 kgs while trying to lose 10.

Hi, I know there must be a ton of posts like this but I just need a personal response rn.

I'm 5'0, maybe 5'1 (idk 153 cm) and I like exercise very much. I do 40-80 minutes workouts a day, in the evening, but I work 8-5 at a half sedentary job (~8k steps when I get home, from the moment I wake up)

My problem is mainly my eating habits. I don't know how in the world am I supposed to be satisfied with 1400 calories a day, for a SLOW weight loss. I see myself failing every day and overeating, I gained 4 kg while trying to diet.

I tried IF, I tried eating small frequent meals, and when I try eating 3 big meals I just over OVER eat at breakfast. I fail eating intuitively/staying mindful. I don't live alone and can't talk to anyone about going on a diet because of a sibling's past experience and a bit of my own.

I'm sorry if it turned into a rant, my last post wasn't long enough and got removed.

Best exercises for weight loss given my weight?

HW:150kg SW:128kg CW:116kg GW:68kg

I will get a gym membership and join the gym tomorrow,I am reducing my caloric intake and eating the minimum amount of carbohydrates. My current plan is to mainly only go for treadmill brisk walks at 6km/h for 45 minutes,the first 35 minutes at 0 incline,while the last 10 minutes at 3% incline to maximize fat burn so my total time spent exercising is 45 minutes,should I spend the last 15 minutes of the 1 hour doing another form of exercise?strength training?elliptical?stair machine?Any advice or recommendation for best exercises to burn fat are appreciated.
