I ate at my favorite Mexican restaurant today and it did not mess up my daily calorie/macros intake.

When my boyfriend said he wanted Mexican food for lunch, my first reaction was thinking, "I shouldn't have that." But I don't want my weight loss journey to effect the people around me, so I agreed to go. I found a grilled chicken salad on the menu that clocked in at about 300ish calories after forgoing dressing and asking for the queso fresco on the side. I planned ahead and tucked some cucumber slices in my purse which I used as a substitute for chips with the before-meal salsa. This nearly killed my bf of embarrassment but IDGAF. I got to enjoy the appetizer and not ruin my day. I highly doubt anyone even noticed. So anyway, YAY! I'm learning that I can do this. I can enjoy my life and still lose weight. Please share your most creative substitutes at your favorite restaurant. I want to learn more secrets to success!

I feel extra motivated when I have to listen to my coworkers talk about BS weight loss tips & products

I'm not sure if my flair is updated but I lost 50 lbs in 2019. F23 SW: 205lbs CW: 154lbs GW: 110(?)

I accomplished this through CICO and switching to a job that involved way more moving/walking. I had to stop losing weight for a few months at the end of the year because I had major surgery (I'm healthy! It was preventative). I didn't talk to people about this too much. But now one of my coworkers has been talking a lot about losing weight and getting abs, etc. Today she's been showing me a waist trainer that is heated? and makes you sweat a lot while you work out. This is supposed to burn extra stomach fat & give you a small waist. I tried suggesting that an Instagram product that is recommended by celebrities who get plastic surgery may not be the best plan for her. But she's not really open to hearing anyone out.

Anyway, I've been stuck in a slump of gaining and losing the same two pounds. But listening to her talk has made me more motivated. I want to be able to say (probably not out loud, I realize this is rude) "look I did it, i am fit, healthy, and lean. I can give good advice about this". Instead of being overweight and trying to talk about this topic. It's just a reminder that this is way simpler than people think and I've gotten too in my head about it instead of focusing on the relatively simple habits I can create to keep myself moving forward.

Feasible to lose ~40-45 lbs over a span of 5 months?

I'm a 20 year old girl (4'11 and around 145lbs). I have a vacation coming up in July and overall I need to make lasting healthy changes to my life in general, so I'm using my vacation as a timeline, though I want to keep my routine standard after that to maintain the loss.

I am a student, which means I do spend much of the day sitting and in the summer I work an office job so my lifestyle is pretty much sedentary. I try to go to the gym regularly (like only cardio on the elliptical or bike 2-3x per week, and some at home exercises like sit-ups and lunges lol), but I fall off the wagon pretty quick about a month in. I understand that most weight loss is CICO, but I kind of want something a bit more structured yet not a fully complex food diet.

I need some help to cut down to around 100-105 lbs in a span of 5 months, but if this is overly unrealistic, I am not opposed to losing till I'm 120 lbs. I don't really want a complex diet (I prob am unable to follow a fad kind of diet lol), and I will honestly be okay with eating the same thing everyday if it means I can achieve this goal. Will be throwing in some light exercise as well, but on the gym portion I need some type of discipline tips that can help me stay on track.

So, r/loseit, can you help or offer any advice?

EDIT: Also calculated by TDEE, it says around 1600 calories is my maintenance so how many would it be to cut down to achieve my goal of losing 40 lbs? Or even 20lbs, if that is more realistic?

What excites you about loosing weight?

It always intrigues me to know peoples main goals for weight loss. The obvious for most people is to be healthy and happy, but what about the other stuff. What really excites you when you think about being able to do it. For me, it’s having people be in awe of my new body and instead of going shopping and seeing clothes and thinking ‘ugh I love that but I would only buy it if I was skinny’ I can just pick it up and buy it because I know I’ll look good. My current fashion taste is boring but I have a complete different fashion taste in my head, I’m just not confident enough to wear the clothes I want to wear out. When I loose weight I will truly be me and I can wear what I want and do what I want without constantly worrying about my weight. I don’t know if this is just a me thing, but I’m at the point where I don’t even do things I enjoy like reading or art because I think, ‘you won’t look good while you’re doing it, you should wait until you’re skinny then you can do it.’ I know that sounds really weird but idk it’s just my mind. I’m just excited to live my life freely and not be nagged by the tiny little voice in my mind anymore. So, what excites YOU most about loosing weight?

If I eat unhealthy foods but still eat less calories will I lose weight?

I know that weight loss is directly correlated with your calorie intake and calories burned. But does this mean that you can pretty much eat any food no matter how unhealthy it is, as long as you make sure you burn more calories than you eat? Theoretically, would someone be able to eat McDonald’s for all 3 meals a day for example, with the 3 meals adding up to 2000 calories each day, but as long as they burn 2500 calories a day, will they still lose weight? I know this isn’t a healthy option at all because you wouldn’t be getting any vitamins or nutrients that your body needs from healthy foods but I just want to know, strictly based on logic, would this technically still allow someone to lose weight ?

2020 goal: see my abs for the first time of my life. Currently have normal BMI for my height and im getting skinny everywhere but my belly after losing more than 35 kgs in about 3 years.

I need some advice on how to lose this fat, I didn’t exercise to lose weight, instead i used to walk a lot and carry heavy objects whilst walking as a part of my job, i really want this belly to go and a chance to see my abs for the first time, idk if its allowed but here’s some pics to elaborate:

https://ibb.co/fDgCdmd https://ibb.co/Wy5ZLHw

I’m 28 years old male, my height is 176 cm and i weigh about 74.5 KGs, i was always an obese kid and loved fast food/soda, now i’m curious whether i need to do cardio, weights or core strength exercises and whether i need a supplement to add to my routine or not, I don’t like taking weight loss pills/shakes and i would rather do it myself, all i take is some pre-workout when i hit the gym (which isn’t that frequent) and i just got me some whey protein as i heard it helps with boosting metabolism.

My ultimate goal is to see my abs once before i die 😅

Any input is greatly appreciated!!

My 2020 Weight Loss Journey

The journey unofficially started to form in June 2019. I weighed in at 213 lbs. I couldn’t believe I had let myself get that heavy. At 5’3, I didn’t even see how that number was real. Luckily, my doctor had just put me on a medication (not weight related) that helped me drop 10 pounds in 6 months. No diet or exercise, just lost 10 pounds. Finally after seeing photos from Christmas, I knew major changes had to happen. Me being over 200 was the root of my depression.

So on 01/12/2020, I joined Planet Fitness and the official journey began. I try to work out 3-4 days a week for about 90 mins/2 hours (depending on how busy the gym is). I also finally using a whey protein this week as well. Its worked well for me in the past. I weighed myself this morning and i am down 15 pounds since I started to work out! I usually only weigh myself once every two weeks or so. I judge my weight loss by body measurements. Between my bust size down to my thighs, I have lost between 3-7 inches, depending which part is measured. I am excited about the results and only want more! Only 23 more pounds before i hit my first major goal.

Now if only I could figure out how to shrink these dang love handles of mine...🤣🤣
