I am in competition to lose as much weight as possible in 10 weeks.

Hi all.

I am overweight, and have been for 10+ years. My current stats are 5’10 230lbs, 30% bodyfat. I have experience in the gym but haven’t been for a long time.

Me and a guy from work have always talked about losing weight, he is roughly the same size as me and after some banter with other colleagues, we have decided to have a competition to see who can lose the most weight before Christmas break (10 weeks away) the winner wins £100.

My plan is for this weight loss journey to last longer than 10 weeks, and to keep losing weight until I am happy, but figured this would be a good way to start off. I’ve researched and set a goal to lose 1% of my body weight a week. Some weeks will be harder than others, I know, but I plan to work very hard to achieve this.

I was just wondering if anyone had any tips I should be following during these 10 weeks? I’m pretty new to weight loss, my current ideas are

Calorie deficit (eating 10x my lbs in calories, so to start 2,300 calories). High protein (1g per lb of weight). Weight lifting 5x a week in the gym, PPL routine & steady state cardio for 30 mins afterwards. 10k steps a day . Cut out junk food, sugars, sweets etc. essentially clean up my diet.

I would appreciate someone telling me if this is a good or bad approach, and perhaps any other tips or things I should be following in the next 10 weeks. Cheers!
