The only time I lose weight is severe carb restriction and I hate it

I feel so frustrated because I've done CICO, I exercise regularly. My workout schedule is

Monday, Wednesday, Saturday: walk dog 3 km (minimum but up to 5k), swim laps for 20 minutes

Tues, Thursday: strength training

Sunday: walk dog or rest day

It doesn't seem to matter if I'm at a deficit, the only time I have lost fat is keto. I don't enjoy that long term, but the weight creeps back on immediately when I add carbs back in, even gradually. What makes it difficult is strenuous exercise triggers migraines for me so I can't lift ad intensely as I'd like, and because of it I can't keep up with the weight gain. I was 156, I'm at 170 now and I think it will keep climbing and I'm so, so stressed about it. The last several weeks I've eaten so strictly and kept up with this momentum on exercise yet the weight just keeps coming.

Does anyone else have this issue? It seems like carbs, healthy or otherwise, seriously impede my weight loss even in moderation

Finding motivation when you’ve once reached your goal and lost it

How do you find motivation if you’ve already achieved your goals once and then lost them? I’m on my second weight loss journey and I’m finding it harder than my first to get motivated.

The first time, I was in my early 20s and excited by the unknowns of how my life would change by losing weight and becoming fit. I achieved goals I thought were impossible as an overweight and inactive teen, and kept the lifestyle up for several years. Mentally I was usually able to find motivation to work out really hard and keep going. I became kind of addicted to it.

Fast forward to 2 years ago when life crap and COVID hit and I stopped cold turkey. I slipped into a lot of bad habits I had as a teen and am in worse shape than ever before. Recently I’ve been trying to get back on track but I find the motivation and excitement I once had is much harder to find. Part of it feels like because I already experienced what the “fit me” would be like, and it didn’t fix everything. I’m a lot more jaded now and things just feel kind of pointless. I really want to lose the weight — and the muscle memory is there, but I’m just giving up a lot more easily.

I think if this was my first attempt at losing weight I’d be really curious and motivated to discover the healthier and more confident me underneath all this for the first time. But that spark is gone. How do I get it back the second time around? Can anyone relate? Does this even make sense?

I have a NSFW question for men

Just another warning this is ⚠️ NSFW ⚠️

To the men who’ve lose ~100+ pounds, has your Penis gotten bigger? The reason asking this is because I’m about 295 pounds (have already lost about 20 pounds in the last few months), and was wondering how my “thing” will differ from the weight loss. I’m not overly self conscious about the size of it but was just wondering if/how much more of it I could see.

Can dehydration stall weight loss?

SW 254 CW 246 height 5 ft 4 Hi all, so (obviously) I’m on my weight loss journey, and I’m calorie tracking to 1800 calories. When I started tracking I was losing about 2lbs per week, but the last two weeks I’ve only only 0.75lbs. I am terrible at drinking, and I have no doubts that I’m dehydrated. Could this be the cause of this sudden slowing down in my weight loss? I know often you will lose at a higher rate at the beginning, but I should be eating at enough of a deficit to contribute to higher losses? I should preface this by saying that I count and weigh everything. Thanks for any help :)

Can I get really slender arms and a sharp jaw back?

I have yoyoed my weight my whole life. I'm 5'4 and currently 187lbs and I'd like to be around 125. My arms and my face are my biggest insecurity. Will they ever go back to being slender?

Last year I got back down to 135lbs and my arms and face still didn't look like they did before I gained all the weight. It was like once I hit 190lbs everything changed. I'm scared I ruined my body and now only a facelift and skin removal surgery will undo this damage. I even had chin and underarm lipo and didn't see much of a difference. A little. But not much.

Does anyone have before and afters of weight loss about my size?

Reducing/preventing sagging from weight loss?

5'0" 22F 135lbs

I recently lost 35lbs and I'm happy with that progress, but I've always had larger breasts growing up. I gained a ton of weight throughout high-school, my breasts got a little bigger, then they began to droop further than before when I started losing weight.

Right now they're at a 34F and they're the biggest part of my body that I'm having trouble accepting. They're massive, saggy, and my nipples are large and puffy. I want to lose more weight because I'm not exactly at a healthy weight for my height and whatnot, but I'm so terrified they're going to sag even further.

Is there anything I can do in terms of exercise that may help reduce or prevent sagging? I'd really appreciate it.

Cutting calories even a little bit makes me OBSESSED with food. Please help.

31 F, 168 cm, 96 kg Goal: 77 kg

I have been trying to lose weight for about 10 years but havent lost any weight during that time. I tried keto and IF and vegan and all sorts of things. Two years ago I decided to focus primarily on health and I began an exercise program that I am continuing today (2 hours of biking/day) and just recently added weight lifting (1 hour per day, skipping weekends). But.... still havent lost any weight. Gotten test, hormone panel is normal, blood work fine, no insulin resistance or PCOS. My doctor says I should be losing weight, so long as I take care to eat healthy. Currently I only eat 2 meals a day, though both are normal portions (for my country-- I live in Japan).

I think the only way forward is calorie counting and restriction but heres the thing like...

It is SO hard to find out how many calories to eat. I tried 1200 kcal for a bit, but would get so weak and dizzy during workouts that I had a few very close calls. I then raised it to what the TDEE calculator told me would work, 1900 kcals, but at that level the weight loss is SO slow. Thus far 1600 kcal seems to be the most effective, losing about 1 lbs per week, but whenever I get on it I am literally OBSESSED with food.

I wake up and go to sleep hungry. I spend every other minute between meals checking the clock for when I can eat again. I look up recipes and make plans and grocery lists and watch cooking videos. If my coworkers eat at their desk, the smell is over powering and I basically just stare at it. I dream about eating.

So eventually I break. I dont know what to do! The only calorie deficit that doesnt make me crazy like this is so small that if I slip up even a little bit during the week Im fucked, and the weight loss rate is so slow that it means Id need to go years without a mistake (like literally 2-3 years assuming no mistakes). I cant handle years of weighing all my food, avoiding eating out with friends, avoiding alcohol or holidays etc.

So idk now Im looking at a few things:

  1. Appetite suppressants. Going to my doctor to see if they can just like idk drug me up.

  2. Some sort of meditative, zen something self help book to teach me mental exercises to get my mind off of food. Think Alan Carr's quit smoking book but for food.

Anyone got something that worked for them?
