68lb 18 months, still going!

So I posted a couple months ago about my weight loss journey I thought I might want to update it, about 18 months back I decided to quit alcohol. I noticed the weight was slowly coming off, and I have for the last 20 years been dedicated to daily exercise (a incline walk lasting 1-2 hours daily).

I believe this is why I was able to keep the weight down, but I also didn't eat the best. I was about 24 years back, around 300lb. I went to my doctor, and he put me on high blood pressure pills, but instead I said, what If I start walking uphill. He was totally into it, and from there I got myself down to about 220 lb in about 2-3 years. Then got in a nasty divorce, and started drinking and got back up to about 245lb....

So I decided to quit alcohol about 18 months ago, I went cold turkey, I saw it wasn't doing me any favors, I noticed my body didn't like it. So ... I stopped. It wasn't good, was very hard, and I struggled with the loss of calories. But I kept going! Then about five months back, I decided that I wanted to quit sugar, but instead, I went even harder, and decided to quit fast food and what I consider crap food.

So I've been doing this now for about five months, and in that time, I've easily lost 50+ lb. It's insane to watch your body change, you can literally feel your bones, and not flab. Like my ribcage is now exposed, I can feel the bones in my chest, ass, etc. Sadly I have a lot of loose skin around my belly, ass, and such.

How do I lose so much? Well instead of these crash diets, or crazy diets like carnivore, etc, I do this: I eat only whole foods -- -for lunch I'm actually having chicken tacos, simple, one chicken breast, two good size tomatoes, and green onions. I'm having them with whole wheat tortillas, and even some hard ones. Sure, those aren't the best (and I understand moderately processed) but... still ok, for dinner, I'll have my usual, a chicken breast , potatoes (a good helping), zuchinni, and some green pepper. I dip it in a no-sugar bbq sauce (thanks to walmart) and lap it up. I eat these meals daily, it's boring, but --- to me sustainable.

I will then do my exercise routine, which I have upped again, I'm now doing a 6.5km hike daily, that consists of a 500m vertical gain. It takes me about a hour twenty to do, I don't even really sweat anymore, and I'm able to maintain a low heart rate the whole time. It's now not really a chore, even though the last 150m is pure vertical. I also force myself to wear a 10lb pack filled with water for extra weight. I have not missed this hike in over 70 days now daily.

How is my body?!?!? better than ever, you see when I was around 200+lb, every time I would come home I was exhausted, my body sore, my muscles in pain, now I come home, and I don't even feel it, even if I stretch to 10km -- I come home feeling like I didn't even exercise. I believe this is from the reduced sugar intake, inflammation, and much lower weight on my bodies joints.

I'm writing this because, I want people who are trapped in the weight cycle, eating crap, trying to exercise and feeling bad because it hurts, there is a end. I guarantee the more you lose, the better you'll feel. Don't let the food addiction get to you, get out, start a routine and stop living with the weight and burden.

I have not included my height until now but I'm Six foot Three (6' 3"), I'm in the lower middle BMI now for my size. I probably have 10lb of calf, glutes, and lower muscle mass, I'm putting my end weight to around 170lb, not sure if this is a good goal or not, todays weigh in was 177.6lb. I hope my story inspires people to get out and exercise, look at what they eat, and have a little inspiration.

Good luck everyone on their weight loss journey.

Is it likely my boobs will be as perky as they were before I gained weight, when I lose weight?

I used to have perky d cup sized boobs, I then gained 25kg and they’re not as perky as they were. They aren’t SUPER saggy but they definitely hang lower than they did. I’m an E cup now. Although my band size has remained the same (32). FYI, I’m 22. I want to lose weight and get back to being 50kg. I’m now 75. Is there any chance my boobs will return to how they were at 50kg, and be perkier and more lifted, or are they just going to sag and deflate? Has anyone been lucky and didn’t have saggy boobs after weight loss and they’re in fact perkier? it’s not like my boobs haven’t been perky before.

Does anyone else not like it when others bring up their weight loss?

I 27f 5'6 gave lost approx 75lbs over the last two years. The last 30 lbs came off pretty fast and I noticed a drastic change in my physical appearance then. Since then many people, friends, acquaintances, family ect. have all congratulated me or mentioned my weightloss in some positive manner. And I dont like it. It makes me uncomfortable. I love being complimented on my hair, eyes or literally anything else. Just not my body. I think this is paired with the fact that ive noticed a pretty big difference in how people treat me. Strangers are nicer, im no longer invisible. And I dont like it, it actually pisses me off. Im still me, literally NOTHING has changed other than im now in a more socially acceptable package. I get it, im hot now. But I personally always found myself hot. I lost weight for health reasons. Thats not shaming anyone who lost weight for vanity reasons, genuinely I wholeheartedly love that for you. But I dont like when people point it out. Im not exactly sure why it bothers me so much but it does. I saw a friend who I hadn't seen in awhile recently and lovingly said "youre so skinny!!" Multiple times and I just stared at her. Didnt know what to say. I ended up snapping out of it and joking about it but I hated the interaction. I know people mean well but I wish nobody would comment on my body good or bad. Unless im in bed with someone lmao.

i don't feel like it's ever helped me to get 'excited' or 'really into' weight loss

motivation is one thing, and if you're pumped to start losing weight, then that's great. for me, that's never been so helpful because, most of the time i find weight loss is boring and sucks. i'd really rather not think of it and often if i do, it's not excitement, it's obsession and that doesn't help. it feels like a 'magic bullet' kind of thing when i'm excited for it and the reality is anything but. it's mostly about being practical.

i'm not saying nobody should get excited for it. sometimes putting in some kind of financial investment can keep you going or be motivational. buying workout clothes, a new cookbook, whatever other accessories. that is fun. the actual weight loss, though, for me is still a 'meh' experience that's not very exciting.

the exciting part for me, though, is the results. that is really really nice. having your clothing start to fit looser, finding it easier to move around and feeling stronger, that is worth getting excited over. for me, the process still sucks and i'd rather not get too involved and, ideally, i don't even want to think about it.

Am I plateauing or should I trust the averages?

Cross posted!

I lost weight slow and steady with remarkable consistency at the rate of one pound a week for over a year. I’m now 69.5 pounds down but have appeared to be stagnating for the last month. Day 1 of October to day 1 of November was the exact same weight (which has never happened to me). HOWEVER my averages tell a different story. According to my averages I lost an average of 3.7 pounds in October (which is essentially the same rate of weight loss as any other month!).

Is this one of those instances where the scale isn’t telling the whole story and I should trust the averages or should I make some changes? I did start mild strength training (1x per week until I build up some more tolerance- I have some physical disabilities). I worry that my appetite has revved up more than my metabolic rate has gone up. I also don’t want to undereat in this new phase of building strength!

slow weight loss and sustainability

hi, i don’t know if this is the right subreddit for this question but i’m hoping for some insight.

i’ve been fat most of my life, starting in childhood and i’m finally decided enough is enough and i’m preparing to start my weight loss journey of losing 100+ lbs. i’ve been doing lots of research and making a plan that i think could work for me. in doing so, i come across lots of posts talking about how slow weight loss is best and more sustainable than fast weight loss and my understanding of the “fast weight loss” is like losing weight fast through fad diets, and other unsustainable habits.

if someone does everything needed to lose weight in a sustainable way like being a calorie deficit, prioritizing protein and fiber, exercising regularly, practicing good habits, etc. and they are losing weight faster than whats considered “sustainable” or “slow,” would it be considered unsustainable? everyone is different, so people obviously lose weight differently. so my question is, if 2 people are following the same weight loss plan but one is losing weight faster than the other, would the one losing weight faster be unsustainable and prone to putting the weight back on?

Second round

In 2021, I lost about 75 lbs in a year naturally. I became a CO and worked 60-80 weeks, second shift, ate and went right to bed, had hardly any time for the gym and gained it all back. Although I look slightly less large then the last time due to lifting, it is still so dissapointing and frustrating. I have a normal schedule again, cardio everyday, gym 4-5x a week, calorie deficit, and it’s like nothing is happening. It’s been 4 months and I’ve lost about 10lbs and 3 inches. Last time in that same time frame I had lost triple. I go wedding dress shopping in December, I get married next October, I just have so many things coming up and I am so dedicated to this again yet it’s like nothing is working. What helped people the second time around on a big weight loss journey?
