thought a pair of pants I bought were too small, but they fit

recently I had a non scale victory!!

when I got to my high weight, I knew I gained lots of weight, but I was a bit delusional. I didn’t know I gained as much as I did.

I saw a pair of jeans I wanted to try on at the store at the time of my highest weight. I grabbed a size I’d usually wear, and a larger size. when I was looking at the larger size I thought “no way this is going to fit, it’s going to be too big!”

I was wrong. they were too tight. I needed to size up from the size I thought were going to be too big.

recently, I ordered a pair of pants from amazon. when I pulled it out of the package, I thought “wow, they’re kinda small. I probably won’t be able to even button it up”

but guess what? I was able to button them up and they fit!!

weight loss journey can be difficult at times, but small moments like these are so rewarding.

Intense cardio -- how many calories do you add back in?

I've been using LoseIt and there's a section to log exercise. LoseIt then does a 1-1 conversion on what you log, giving you "back" the additional calories in your daily budget. My question is for folks who do high intensity cardio -- do you treat this modified budget as fully legit? Or do you try to stay a little further under? I am a cyclist and routinely ride 30-50 miles in a day at what LoseIt calls "racing speed" (lol) of 16-20 mph. I wear a fitness tracker and feel reasonably confident in its calorie burn estimates, so I put those numbers in.

Obviously I'm hungrier when I do one of these rides and I certainly replace some of the lost calories by eating more, either on or after the ride. But I'm looking at 1000 cal additional deficit like, it can't be smart to fill this whole thing in? Idk I'm very new to CICO of any kind and have never tried to do any sort of dieting, and I'm still getting accustomed to feeling a bit hungry more often. So I guess I am just doubting my judgment here and looking to hear what other folks do. I don't want to do any harm to my body or approach weight loss in an unsustainable way; at the same time, I would happily eat 3000 calories every day if I could, that's how I got into this situation in the first place!

What do you do about medication that causes weight gain?

I had a medical emergency and I was on massive doses of IV cortisone as well as other medication that causes insane increases in appetite in hospital about a year and a half ago. Once I was discharged I was on handfuls of prednisone for a few months. I gained 20kgs which is massive for me because I'm really short. I am still chronically on different pills that can cause weight gain as well as 100mg Sertraline and Ginette (for PCOS).

I feel like such a total mess. It's taken me so long to get well again and get my medication regime sorted out so that I can be a functioning human. I can't really change my meds.

Is there any hope to lose this weight while on these meds? Or am I just being dramatic?? Weight loss meds aren't an option because of the cost and the strain they would put on my liver with the meds I'm on.

Any advice would be appreciated. I'm just feeling so overwhelmed and need a pep talk 😅

How to you keep the motivation on hard days?

I’m currently in a plateau on my weight loss journey. I know that is a normal part of the process, but it is hard to stay motivated nonetheless. I have been very mindful and disciplined with what I’m eating, even over the holidays because I have a goal I’m working towards and seeing the results that is has been working has kept me motivated to happily continue.

I am still following my calorie deficit plan because I know I should. But it’s getting harder and harder when I’m not seeing any weight loss in the last couple weeks.

So, what do you tell yourself in order to keep your motivation up?

There is approximately 69 days until Spring

Depending where you are, of course. This is coming from a North American stand point.

That's about 10~ weeks give or take a few days!

Now, we're all aware that this is a life long journey that we're on - losing weight & being healthy & whatnot - BUT the human brain kinda needs an end goal in mind.

Saying that, I personally think I'm going to stay with the solid goal of just tracking my calories each day. I use MyFitnessPal (Not sponsored but God, if you (company) wanted to, that'd be sick nasty) & it's an app that I've used before and will probably use for a looong looong time.

I am currently 235~ lbs at 5'3, 5'4 on a good day and hopefully I can hit like 225 considering healthy weight loss is around 1lb/week.

I have no plans of bettering my health in any other aspect. I'll add walking in spring and working out in summer. Maybe. I don't know, we're still balls deep in winter.

"But why wait until then? You can be a better person now!" I know, but I don't want to so therefore I'm not going to. I'm just going to start with the absolute basic item which is counting calories and then move on from there.

It's not my first time either, I've went as low as 180lbs and I'm really kicking myself for allowing myself to get back up to like 240lbs but whatever, we're here now.

If you also have goals or would like to set any goals for the rest of winter please share below as community helps a lot.

weight loss ads

I went on a successful weight loss journey from March to September of last year, from 174 to 150 pounds. Unfortunately I got complacent and now I'm back up to 156. So here I am again! My original goal was 140 and I obviously didn't even reach that but I was pretty happy at 150 so I'd like to get there again, at least. 140 might be too low for my frame (my face starts looking a little skeletor-like lol).

Anyway, my question is really, I'm wondering if anyone else noticed a shift in their social media advertising around the new year? I try to stay off instagram but around late December I noticed that all of a sudden 90% of the ads I saw were either for GLP-1s, some other weight loss program/app, or plastic surgeons. Like literally bombarded with before and after pictures. I tried blocking every account when they popped up but then I realized that's probably hurting, not helping, the algorithm cuz I was visiting the pages. It seems to have slowed down now and is kind of back to giving me more regular ads. But wow, that was intense, and wildly triggering!! I don't know if they targeted me because I'm just a 30-something year old woman? I hadn't been searching for weight loss related anything, anywhere, and I certainly have never looked into plastic surgery.

Anyone else get targeted for "body-changing" ads around the new year? And how did it make you feel? I obviously tried to ignore them but in general I was still feeling that "New Year New Me means your body is wrong and gross and terrible and you need to change it" thing I get every year so I feel like those ads somehow work even if I tell myself to ignore them.

Trying to come from a place of love, not hate, to get back down to my preferred weight. Sometimes I just struggle with the whole thing, though.

Weight Loss and new clothes

Hi All,

Im currently on my journey. Im currently 110kg (240ibs) and hoping to go down to around 85 - 90kg. (200 ish ibs) I need to invest in a new jacket and id rather buy something that will last rather than a fast fashion type jacket that wont last very long.

My chest is currently 44inches which is the top end of the large size. Large covers 40 - 44inches. From everyone who has experience with weight loss. Would I realistically be losing 4 inches off my chest?rCurrently weight training snd doing cardio.

Cheers
