Day 4. Going annoyingly well today.

The last time I had to lose a lot of weight, it probably took about a month of low calorie dieting before I'd really feel myself being full.

I had to leave Vietnam today to renew my Visa and I fly back tonight. I thought since I'm only going for a day and flying to Thailand anyway, I'd get some food. I really love authentic Thai food so I was actually looking forward to this for a week. I had a little pho this morning which is pretty common for a quick breakfast (around 400 calories) and then some banh mi (sandwich) and a coffee at the airport before my flight.

I'm a little saddened to be sitting at the airport in Bangkok, having walked past so many nice looking meals and not having the appetite to eat any of them. I still have most of the afternoon before my flight departs so hopefully I can walk around enough to build up an appetite for one small meal.

The takeaway that i can see here is that there is always going to be things that tempt us while we lose weight, not all of it is going to be things we have to say no to, but we need to do our best to plan around them so these nice little treats are just apart of our weight loss plans and not a set back.

Hope everyone is having a good day. I need to try to get around 20000 steps in for an appetite so I can Chow down on some pad Thai before I leave.

How do I just live a less sedentary life?

I'm not really interested in massive weight loss or anything (I want to be happy with how I am, not hate it so much that I'm working towards the model figure I'll never get), but I'm well aware that I live a sedentary lifestyle. Since my last season of marching band (Sr in high school, sport or not, marching band can be an effective workout) I've gained over 40 pounds, and so I've tried to cut back on my bad eating habits, but I also know full well that that won't do much for me in terms of actually losing weight, just that it will keep me from gaining more.

The problem is that I live a sedentary lifestyle, and that needs to change, I just don't know how. I've had periods in the past where I've gone to the gym, but I've never been able to keep it up for more than a month or two, mostly because I just hated it. Not even just the actual workout part, but I hate feeling like I'm competing, looking around me and seeing either ripped studs or people that are running 15 miles as their warm-up. It also became a matter of priorities. Most of the time, due to my work schedule, I would have to do my workouts late at night. The problem is that if I have anything that needs to get done before the next day, then that takes precedence over the workout.

I know the "I don't have time" excuse is bullshit, but the problem is that the time I do have is very intermittent. I need to find a way to keep myself active during the time I have in the day, without feeling like it's just a workout. I'm trying hard to avoid the idea that "I don't want it to really be a workout," because at the end of the day you don't lose weight by not working out. The part I'm struggling with is finding an activity that 1) fits within my variable schedule, and 2) is less of a workout and more of an activity with an attainable goal in the short term (a game, etc.). Thankfully in about six months I'll be moving to a busy city where walking everywhere is basically how you get around, and I think that will help change my general day to day lifestyle, but it also isn't a substitute for full physical activity. What I am looking for is something that I want to do during the day, and something I would be sad to leave.

Like I said, I can live with being a bit tubby, I want to love myself first. What I can't live with is knowing that I'm gaining weight and just let it keep going until I run into serious problems with my health. I already find myself unable to keep up with some things my friends are doing, and it is a little embarrassing sometimes. That's the part I can't stand by and watch idly.

Suggestions?

Saggy skin

Hi guys, seven months ago I started my weight loss journey and am finally close to my goal weight. I’ve lost near 70 lbs, however being that I’ve been over weight my whole entire life, my skin in now sagging on my body. People have told me time will fix it, but others worry that it’s genetics (obesity runs in my family), and that I will need surgery. These options are both not favorable. I don’t like the way my skin looks and I’ve seen the scars after skin removal surgery, I don’t want them. I’m wondering if anyone has faced this problem in their weight loss and what you did to help with it or what products work best. I’m fairly young, 24, I hope that helps.

An Ode to Roasted Broccoli

Can we take a second and give some thanks to roasted broccoli?! It’s one of my favorite snacks, and meals. Using spray olive oil, some select seasonings and about twenty five minutes in the oven, you can eat an entire pan, actually be satisfied and be full. No cravings to snack afterwards. The crispy crowns? The charred bits? Dang. I added some brussels in the pan tonight, snuggled up with the brocc. It’s healthy. It’s tasty. It gives you nutrients. Fiber. Protein! Low calorie. Season it any way you like! The crispy pieces are better than chips. I think I bought three heads of broccoli today and it was 2 dollars and some change. It was seriously so delicious. And since I’m full, I don’t feel like snacking. So it helps you stay within your calories for the day. If you haven’t tried it, I highly recommend. Thank you broccoli 🥦

Having tasty food and enjoying my food is imperative to my weight loss, otherwise I get off track easily. I snack more and crave more fast food or things that I don’t need when I’m forcing myself to eat things I don’t really want to eat.

That is all. Thank you.

What are your ‘rewards’/ motivation for hitting your goal weights?

So I know people give themselves ‘rewards’ for loosing weight, like ‘if I loose 10lbs by the end of this month I will get my nails done’ or ‘if I loose 3lbs this week I’ll have 2 beers this weekend’

If you do this, what are you ‘rewarding’ yourself with in order to stay motivated? I’m intrigued because hopefully it will give me some ideas too! Also if you don’t reward yourself for motivation, what are things you do to stay motivated/ determined to reach your weight loss goals? I really want to know fuels different peoples determination to loose weight. Personally, I have prom in June and I really want to loose 45lbs by then so I can look good in my prom dress!!!!

Just curious!! :)

Mixed Feelings about the Weight loss

Hello everyone.

I've posted once before while I struggled to lose weight but now tracking food and having accountability with another person has lead me to some success. I've managed to drop from 278lbs to 261lbs since Mid January to the present, I've been consistent in workouts (3 times a week), and I'm at the point where I've lost enough inches that I need to consider new pants.

Here's my problem. Though I've had success I can't help but find myself trying to sabotage my success and even feel angry at the success. I don't know if its some of the external stressors or if the anger and the weight loss are correlated....

Has anyone else had a similar experience? Does anyone have any techniques they've used to get past it?

Are there any big butt women out there who struggle to reduce their hip size?

I have a weird shape, or at least I've felt that way ever since turning 21. At 28 its been a strrrrugggle trying to get those inches off my hips. Instead of weighing myself regularly I will track my measurements to see where the weight is coming off... but each and every time I manage to lose an inch or so off my waist, my hips just stayyyyy the same. My measurements are pear shaped, but almost ridiculously so. Currently I have just under a 25 inch waist and 39 inch hips.... which is a little over a 14 inch difference which is crazy... but my hips just NEVER seem to be able to shrink.

Currently 5 lbs down on my 15lb weight loss goal. I'm 5'3 and currently 126lbs (SW:132 lbs GW:117 lbs)
