Asking for help as a very busy person struggling with depression.

Hi everyone,

I was hoping that someone might be able to offer some advice or tips. I'm trying to start my weight loss journey and failing miserably.

For background, I'm F29 and I weigh 172 lbs, I'm 5ft 5inches. I used to weigh 130lbs and was very active (running marathons) until I had a mental breakdown which rendered me completely housebound.

I'm a lot better now thankfully, but sadly I still do struggle with depression and anxiety. I think I eat a lot to self-soothe and my lifestyle is very very busy (I work in a corporate environment) and often work from 9am - 10pm most days without a break and often also work weekends.

I often feel like I've failed before I even start because I have little time to exercise or cook, which obviously are the two biggest factors here. But I'm getting to breaking point with my body, I feel so hideous that it is fueling my depression and I feel so uncomfortable.

Would be grateful if anyone with similar circumstances could offer any advice on what worked for them?

Metformin & PCOS

I was prescribed Metformin yesterday and I’m looking for some weight loss stories from other people who successfully lost weight on Metformin.

For context, I’ve always been “bigger” since I hit puberty as a young girl. I’m 31 now and have two children. I’ve had a lot of health issues over the years (total hysterectomy and total thyroidectomy) and I’ve been unable to lose any weight, I just keep gaining. My thyroid panels came back normal and my endocrinologist believes it is PCOS and insulin resistance.

I now weigh 274lbs at 5’7” and I would like to be completely out of the obese range someday. I’m really hoping this works for me alongside healthy eating and exercise! Not to mention, my boyfriend is a total smoke show and he plans on marrying my fat ass and I would like to be a super hot bride when that time comes 🩷🩷🩷

I miss when I could fit into my clothes.

just started my weight loss journey a few months ago.

It sucks because I used to be skinny.

I never threw out my skinny clothes. I want to be able to wear them one day and I thought they'd serve as good motivation. But instead they kinda just make me sad. They've been sitting there untouched for months to years. I can't afford to buy new clothes that fit me better right now, so i currently only have less than a weeks worth of clothes that currently fit me at all, but even those I am stretching them out. I see them all getting rips and holes in them. And I have to do laundry multiple times a week since I have such little clothes i can wear.

I'm so tired of the clothes that fit me right now too. I want the exciting smaller ones again.

How many days a week should you do strength training?

I am currently doing 3 days 1 hour each strength training at home with the help of a personal trainer. I have about 23 - 25 kgs to lose. So apart from this, I'm in calorie deficit and do walking daily.

I try to do strength training sessions the other three days through YT videos, but just for 30-50 minutes. Lately, I have been thinking if I'm overdoing it.

How do you know how many days are required?

Whether you are straining your body too much ?

Does it help accelerate weight loss if I do 6 days a week with 1 day of rest ?

My other concern is time. Spending at least 2 hours per day for movement may not be practical always. So that is another reason I'm reconsidering this.

Any tips to balance dating and weight loss

I’ve been dating someone for a month now (met up 6 times) and each time we always end up having something to eat and a few drinks. For the last few dates I’ve been limiting my drinks to 1-2. However the meals we go out for. And it’s been turning into a weekly thing. I don’t want to say no to outing but does anyone have any tips on balancing this?it doesn’t help that because if jobs they’re not free until Sunday evenings so most places except bars are shut

I’ve notice that while I have still lost weight overall the rate is drastically reduced? For example in a month I could see a loss of between 3-4kg but this month it was about 1.1kg.

We hung out yesterday and I’ve woken up a bit yucky today I don’t know how to explain it.

It’s my first time dating someone so I don’t know if explaining I’m losing weight is ok? The person I’m dating is really skinny and tall

Should i keep cutting or stop and build muscle?

Hey everyone,

I’m 19F, 175 cm (5’9) and currently 72.5 kg (160 lbs). I’ve lost around 22 lbs in almost 4 months. My original goal was 62.5 kg (138 lbs), but now I’m starting to wonder if that’s even the right goal anymore.
I was lifting during my weight loss( but inconsistently haha). Right now I’m on vacation so I’m not lifting, just walking every day, but I’ll start lifting again in September back at uni.
So now I’m wondering if maybe I should just cut until around 66.5 kg (147 lbs), then eat at maintenance and focus on building muscle instead of continuing all the way to 62.5. What’s the beest ?
Thank you in advance :)

starting break week, feeling positive

My calorie counting is 5weeks 1400-1600 (deficit for my 5'6"f ass), 1 week break where I don't go overboard but I just get a break from weighing food and using the app etc. Made it to another one (started October 2025) and I'm enjoying the mental break for the first time.

The first couple of times I felt really anxious. The third time I didn't think about it but... also didn't think about eating, woops, and had my first meal at 2pm when I remembered. The fourth time it was really a struggle to go back to it. Just varying hard times with this model. I'm glad I don't have a scale to weigh daily but I'll pop into a walk-in clinic to use theirs for free sometimes.

My "treats" are 1 sugary snack each weekend day, so got some frozen yogurt today for example then on Saturday I get another one. Some day this week I can have an alcoholic drink or two. One or two days this week, my choice, I'll get to eat at a restaurant. I find I'm enjoying just not being as hungry as before, I'm enjoying the 'healthy' recipes I got used to making, and I'm enjoying not eating out at restaurants too much.

Wanted to make a posi post since this sub sometimes skews the other way. Weight LOSS has slowed down because of unrelated-health-thing slowing down exercise, but I just bumped down the deficit comfortably by a couple hundred calories and it's still going down, just not as quickly. It's kinda nice anyway since my loose skin's had some time to tighten up. The regular urge to treat myself is now more about having a nice bath, using retinol lotion (which helps with skin tightening), or going for a walk. These things are all nice :) I'm happy I started the weight loss journey 10 months ago.
