NSV: Got asked about my weight loss!

I still live at home with my parents, but due to me being a fairly private person I didn’t ever tell them about me trying to lose weight.

Yesterday morning, however, I dressed in some jeans and a tighter-fitting shirt that I haven’t worn in a few months. The shirt fits better on me now that I’ve lost about 9.5kg/20lb. My pants are starting to get juuuust a little loose.

When I went into the living room, my mum looked at me and did a double take. She immediately asked “Have you lost weight?!”

Guys, AHHH! People can actually see a difference in how I look! I genuinely haven’t been able to see it myself, probably because I look in the mirror every day. This is the coolest thing.

And now, even better, I’ve started a conversation about weight loss between me and my parents. Both of them are also obese, and express interest in wanting to lose weight but not knowing how. Now they know I can do it completely on my own for four months, hopefully they can find it in themselves to try with me.

Newbie post - greetings!

Hi! I’ve been lurking this sub for a while. I finally got a Reddit account and thought I’d introduce myself!

I’ve been struggling with binge eating for about two years now. However, when I’m in my right mind I’m a total health nut and have been trying to lose weight for slightly longer so I’m at a perfectly “normal” weight (5’7, 145lb, 22F). I’m also one of the smaller people in my family so I would definitely get sideways looks if I talked about working on weight loss much in real life.

I’m currently down 20lb from my high weight and looking to lose a humble 5-10 more, depending how I feel when I get there, as well as banishing my unhealthy relationship with food for good. I’ve enjoyed reading your guys’ posts for inspiration and I’m excited I can interact now. Keep being awesome!

Question: Is my plan to lose weight going to help me?

I'm ready to start my weight loss journey so I can fit into clothes better and not be afraid to have my shirt off when going to the pool with friends, but more than all that — I'm ready to feel better mentally and be more focused to shake off the depressive moods I seem to have alot.
I want to go from 190 to 170 (Male, 5'8") with a plan of doing Intermittent Fasting and CICO.
I've decided on Lose It! for my calorie tracker. When I setup my account, it gave me an allowance of 1,900 Cal/Day to lose 1.5 lbs a week, which I feel like is doable (especially researching the "1500 is enough" mindset). I want to IF from 12pm to 8pm everyday.

I easily get overwhelmed by the amount of diets, workout plans, routines, etc. So I am pretty inspired to follow such a simple plan of action to lose this 20lbs of fat.

Is this a sustainable/good plan of action? Is there anything I should do different? I like to keep life simple so any outlook or advice would be great! Thanks.

Looking for a weight loss buddy

Hi! I'm looking for a one-on-one weight loss buddy to talk/text/email with regularly for accountability and support. Someone who I can reach out to when I'm tempted to binge or to celebrate passing on office donuts.

Ideally someone who:

-is female

-is around my age - 37

-doesn't have kids

-has a lot to lose (or is maintaining a large loss). I have about 120 to lose and am about 10 pounds in

-shares the same ideals: sustainable and maintainable (life-long) habits and the importance of the mental/emotional aspect

-is doing CICO or similar like Weight Watchers

-If you're in the Houston area, that'd be awesome!

I of course don't expect anyone to have all of these in common with me but the more the better! Let me know if your interested!

What are your top 3 food prep tips for weight loss?

Original post SSC: http://saladsocialclub.com/post?post=27

Here's mine:

1: Cook food I look forward to eating. I don't want to be eating food I don't like, even if it is really good for me. It's important that the food you are eating in your meal prep plans are foods that you are excited about eating. Foods that you love.

2: Invest in high quality food-storage containers. Having a set of nice containers that you love using makes it soo much easier to stick to your meal prep plans. This one is surprising very beneficial.

3: Get on the Mason jar salad bandwagon (Search it up if you don't know what it is).
