I have failed multiple times at losing weight over 10 years, I am on a weight loss drug and I still crave and eat unhealthy food, I feel like I am possessed by some kind of unhealthy food demon, I am afraid for my life at this point

26M, I have been obese for like 8 years now, now way worse (145 Kg or however many pounds).

Nothing works. Or more importantly, nothing sticks. I feel like I am possessed by some kind of unhealthy food demon that makes me go bad overeating, overindulging and overstuffing myself no matter how I want to change.

I really want to change. My life is in danger from this. I am cognisant that if I don't change now, I may die in less than 10 years. I am fully aware of this reality and I ought to everything possible to prevent it.

I am addicted to the dopamine that food brings me. Completely addicted. There is no substitute for it in my life. Food is 50% of the joy I have in my life. I am naturally a pesimist, an introvert. Food is how I get some joy in life.

2 years ago I tried losing weight with a registered dietitian. It worked for 2 months, until I started eating junk food again after stress from college finals. Now since 2.5 months ago I am on Wegovy, and it doesn't work. I still want to eat junk. I am on vacation right now, and I still overindulge and eat my feelings away.

I have been on therapy for 10 years now due to anxiety and similar issues. So going to a therapist won't fix my indulging tendencies. I am afraid on what to do now, because the miracle drug is not working.

I, a grown man, fully aware of the consequences, still on a weekly basis, will raid the supermarket and buy unhealthy shit. I may do 1 week of healthy eating, and then I am back again addicted, like a crack addicted.

Has anyone been in my shoes and succeeded at changing? Because right now I feel utterly and completely defeated.

Not feeling much difference at almost 35 pounds down

25F, 5’1” SW: 225 CW: 192.2 GW: 135

I’ve been losing weight since April of this year. I’ve been working hard and it feels like I’ve been doing at least an okay job. After my second baby last July, I weighed the most I ever have, and I’m just trying to get closer to a normal weight for my height.

My mother in law planned a birthday party for me at a pool, which is very kind of her. I put on a swimsuit I haven’t worn in more than a year and a cover up dress in size XL that looked like it would fit with room to spare in the store. (Changing rooms were closed, so I know I took a gamble here lol)

I couldn’t believe how huge I felt. Both the swimsuit and cover up were so tight that I was uncomfortable. I’m so discouraged and feel like my almost 35 lb weight loss has done nothing for my body. I realize I’m being dramatic but I don’t even want to go so that no one has to see me. I just needed to rant, but if anyone has experience with something similar I’d love to hear how you overcame it.

Looking for Any Suggestions for My Weight Loss Journey.

Hello! I’m a 22 yo male who’s 5 8’ and currently working on weight loss. I’ve been on a calorie deficit and I’ve also been doing cardio and strength training, and I’ve gone down from 244 lbs to 229 lbs in these past 5 weeks. I think the first 8-10 lbs was glycogen and water weight given how fast it went down, but now I’m losing weight at a more sustainable pace of 1-2 lbs per week.

Im trying to get to below 200 lbs by the end of December and as of right now, I’ve been tracking calories and I’m around a 1,000 calorie daily deficit during the week, with some days on the weekend being more like a 500-700 calorie deficit. I tend to eat like 2,000-2,200 calories a day. I try to get 180 g of protein a day to preserve muscle during my strength training and calorie deficit as well. I’m just wanting to make sure that my calorie deficit and my strength training and protein is okay before I continue since I don’t want to lose too much muscle throughout this journey. I’ve been lifting and I feel like my strength is going up, but I am a beginner lifter (never really lifted weights that seriously before) so idk if it’s just the initial gains from being a beginner. I’ve also been told by people that I look skinnier and I feel a lot less bloated and feel better overall, so I think the weight loss is working a bit so far. Also my sleep quality and energy levels have felt so much better now that I’ve lost some weight. I try to get 7-9 hrs of sleep a night. I do weight lifting 3 days a week (with a short 30 minute cardio session after each weight session), and for the other 3 days of the week I do 1-1.5 hrs of cardio on the elliptical each day. Here’s my workout split:

Workout A
Leg press
Dumbbell Romanian deadlift
Hoist ROC-IT Glute Master
Shoulder press
Triceps pushdown
Lateral raise machine
Calf raises

Workout B
Seated leg curl
Lat pulldown
Seated cable row
Chest press
Face pulls
Dumbbell curls
Hammer curls
Oblique crunch machine

I do workout B twice a week and workout A once a week

Is what I am doing with my calorie deficit, workout split, and protein good to continue or do you all have any suggestions? I know that muscle loss will happen as I lose the weight I need to lose, but I’d like to not lose a terribly high amount or hurt my metabolism. Let me know what you all think!

Just bought new jeans/belt for work and it's making me spiral out of control irrationally *VENT*

TL;DR - Just needed to vent about getting new clothes due to recent weight loss and the more snug fit is making my body dysmorphia hit harder than normal

Just need to vent and maybe get some feedback/words of wisdom from the community.

Just recently got past my first goal weight and am 198.2 lbs so I decided it was time to invest in some new clothes and jeans/belt for work. I got a 38x32 (used to be 46x32) and got a belt that goes from 38" - 32" waist and once I got to work and started walking around all I can think about is how tight these jeans/belt are on me.... They're not too small by any means, I just think I'm so much more confident in looser fitting clothes unfortunately.

Idk why I just feel terrible about myself in these new jeans and feel like I literally gained weight just by wearing them... I did eat at maintenance this weekend so the bloating/retention is probably a factor in this along with my BED. (In therapy working on it currently)

Does anyone else have this issue when finally switching out their wardrobe into clothes that fit their current weight better? I don't want to just wear baggy clothes to feel more comfortable as I had to get thru this whole meltdown the prior time I got smaller jeans, it's just bugging me that I hit a huge milestone for me but still feel gross in my own skin... my body dysmorphia is TERRIBLE

Feeling bones - how to manage

I’ve lost 44 pounds in the last year. I’ve found in the last two weeks or so that I have become hyperaware of my bones. Hip bones, ribs, collar bones, shoulder bones where they connect to the humerus as well as the scapula. I’ve even started to find my fingers and my wrists are super sensitive, leaving me wanting to rip my jewelry off. Both sitting and laying down can be quite uncomfortable.

Has anyone else dealt with this feeling following weight loss? If so, what did you do to work through it and ultimately be less “aware” all the time. It’s staring to cause a lot of distress, even if I am healthier.

I need help loosing weight (16F, 5’2 and 220 lbs)

2024 is when I would say my weight loss journey actually started. At the time I was 233 lbs in my freshmen year of high school , my highest ever weight that I know of, and that was when I decided to make a change. What motivated me the most was how I viewed myself; I hate myself. I hate how I look, how my clothes fit on me, etc. I needed a change. It was going good for a while; between October 2024 and June 2025 I had lost a considerable amount of weight (60-70 pounds). I was 153, confident, and could finally breathe. Until I went on a trip to Europe…

I do want to point out that the way I lost those 60-70 pounds was not healthy. I would eat one meal a day. That was it. Maybe two. I worked out 5x a week so I thought it was normal.

Between late June 2025 and early July 2025 I went to Germany, Switzerland and Austria with a group of people led by one of my old teachers. I had a blast and to this day it is one of my most fondest memories. The problem was that I had lost all self control on this trip. I told myself, “When will I ever go back to Europe? I can eat what I want.” So I ate. I ate and ate and ate on that trip. We did a lot of walking, we walked practically everywhere, so I didn’t feel as bad at the time. When I got back home I told myself that this was just a slight hiccup. It also didn’t help that my birthday was soon approaching in the same month (July). I gained 6 pounds over the week and a half I was in Europe and probably a few more pounds during the week of my birthday.

After everything was said and done I realized the self control I had built up for months was gone and I was right back where I started. The more I gained the worst I felt and I gorged myself on food. Whole pizzas, entire family size bags of chips, extra this and extra that from fast food places. My self confidence plummeted and with that did my composure. Along with all of this I struggle with GAD (Generalized Anxiety Disorder) and Depression as well as Trichtotillomania (I don’t know if I spelt that right). I would pull out my hair when I got stressed. All of these problems started a chain reaction of self destruction that I’m still trying to fix today.

There were times that I tried to make a change. There were times I would try to restrict my eating like I did all those months ago, (BAD IDEA) and then I binged. Not only do I binge every day I also am a compulsive eater. As I’m typing this there is currently an empty pizza box in my room. I don’t go out; over the course of my 2 month summer I have stayed in my house 80% of the time. I was doing good for a bit. I joined a Strength and Conditioning summer camp that I did for a few weeks. I quit because my anxiety got to me; all of those girls were not only more athletic than me but they could keep up. I couldn’t. I lagged behind when it came time to run, I couldn’t keep up with snake laps, I was the slowest. All of this crushed my self esteem more than it already was and I quit.

I’m still stuck to this day as I’m typing this. I don’t know what to do anymore; I feel so hopeless. I start school in about 3 days, junior year, so I turned here. I also want to mention I take SSRIS (Zoloft and Lamotrigine) to help with my anxiety as well as birth control for my PMDD/PMS (Pre Menstrual Dysphoric Disorder). I don’t know how to stop. If anyone can give me any sort of advice that would be appreciated.

I don’t know if this is important but I play a sport. I throw Discus and Shotput for my highschool, so I am going to be active.

Anyone else feel triggered by Ariana Grande?

I didn’t really know what subreddit to put this in but I’ve been on a weight loss journey for the past 5 years with ups and downs. I’ve successfully lost 110lbs (23F, 5’5, 155lbs) and have been working on losing these last 10-15lbs. This year however, has been challenging as I’ve been so stressed from work and then recently diagnosed with a condition that affects my ability to walk from time to time. I’ve only lost 5lbs this year, if anything I’ve really been maintaining unintentionally.

But, all this public talk about Ariana Grande has started to affect me. It’s not just public talk about her but videos and photos circulating from her tour, new music video, wicked, IG posts, tik tok videos etc. It’s really starting to get to me. I’ve blocked her on my socials and am limiting my activity in her Reddit subs and anything related to her.

Normally I weigh my food, track calories, and I’ve always weighed myself everyday and have consistently these past 2 years, it was helpful for me to get used to the fluctuations and have actual data to use. But, this week it was affecting my mental so I decided to just put the scale away for 1-2 weeks.

I’m trying to practice healthy portion control and hunger cues but just when find myself enjoying my meals and thinking about my next meal or snack it’s like images of Ariana pop into my head and my brain’s like “no don’t eat that, look at Ariana, she barely eats and she’s just fine” Other times I’ll be snacking on something like some gummies and feel guilty and think man I need to spit it out quickly and sometimes I do but then other times I have to snap myself out of that thinking and I have to tell myself it’s okay to have these things and gummies aren’t the enemy. My mind feels like it’s in SHAMBLES. It’s soo frustrating and hard. I’ve struggled with an ED in middle school, never hospitalized or anything but I lost a significant amount of weight fast forward I gained it all (hence the 100lbs weight loss) but after losing 100lbs in a healthy way I thought I’d finally overcome all this disordered thinking.

I don’t know what to do. Right now I’m just trying to do my best to remind myself my body deserves to be nourished and food is the fuel for a healthy life and a healthy life is the real reward. And I’m trying my best to make meals I actually love and looking up new recipes to help me enjoy creating new meals. But it’s like in the back of my head I feel like I’m dancing on the line between a healthy relationship with food & body and disordered eating. I do see a therapist but not for ED or body dysmorphia but would love some communal support here 😭
