Fell off the boat, having trouble getting back on

I started my weight loss journey last year January. I was on and off keto, going to the gym consistently, and even counting calories. This lasted until September, and things got really bad

i lost around 50 pounds, from 267 - 213ish and looking at myself i though i was so skinny. I thought i didn't need to diet anymore or workout as much, so i cut back on it a lot. i started binge eating after breaking up with my ex; every time i felt sad or bored i just ordered dominoes.

Now I'm trying to get back on, practically every week i wake up like "I'm gonna start over, ill do keto or intermittent fasting or count calories" or something along those lines. It goes pretty well for a couple days then i get on the scale and I notice i went up a pound or just stagnated. I would get so sad or mad so I'd binge or just eat whatever someone offered me (my family always gets take out) and then the cycle repeats itself.

Right now I'm 228 and I don't know how to break this mindset. I'm probably gonna get rid of my scale or at least hide it cause i know the number fucks with my head a lot. But is there anything else I should do? Keep in mind im F17

Can weight loss fuck with your hairline?

M 24yrs 5’11” 155lbs

I started my first cut portion of a bulk/cut cycle in December. From then to February 1st I lost 4lbs of fat and kept lean mass the same (measured by DEXA scan). Since February I estimate that I’ve lost another 4 lbs of fat based on the scale, though I can’t be sure about that. So that’s about 8lbs/16weeks, a pretty slow and reasonable rate, nothing drastic.

I’ve noticed that over the past few months, my hairline has started to thin out and in general my hair feels different than it used to. Obviously this could just be male pattern baldness and I’m fine with that but I did find the timing coincidental. Can this happen with any kind of weight loss or change in diet? Has it happened to you? Can it grow back when I start to bulk again?

Loss of energy

When I first started my life style change in January, I was pretty pumped, but the last two weeks I feel absolutely exhausted. My weight loss goal is 100 lbs and when I get to that goal, I’ll be in a healthy bmi. I’ve lost 20 lbs so far. All I’m doing is being pretty strict with my diet, no junk food, no sugar, very limited carbs because that seems to be my weakness, so I try to avoid them. I eat several small meals a day with a typical meal being either a protein powder smoothie with frozen veggies and/or fruit or a leafy salad with chopped veggies and usually fish or chicken with salad dressing. Every meal has a protein and fruit or veggies. I don’t feel like I’m not getting enough calories, because I haven’t changed my meal sizes since I stared and the tiredness is a recent thing. I want to keep up with the progress I’ve made, but it’s difficult to get my steps in and sometimes even difficult to prep a meal because I just feel sluggish. I kind of went cold turkey onto the diet, so I’m wondering if because I went from a heavy carb/red meat diet to almost taking them out if I need to start taking a supplement? Any advice? I’m really motivated this time around and I don’t want to lose that motivation because of this.

Wanting to start exercising but need advice.

So for short, I'm a 24 year old female, 59kg (130lbs), 162cm (5'3 - 5'4) and I take roughly 1200 - 1400kcal a day, my maintenance apparently being around 1580, since I'm as sedentary as you can get (unemployed, personal issues and only go out with family or appointments). I've lost about 7kg (15.4lbs) since I started in late September and have been in a plateau foooor a month or so, maybe more.

I want to start waking up early and doing some yoga/streching everday to help me move and sort out some tension/stress, and once I've got that under control, do some light workouts 2 or 3 times a week, something to strengthen myself a bit and not be so out of breath, these will just be at home workouts and I'm thinking of adding rope skipping as my cardio and/or warmup.

My issue is, what does yoga/streching count as? Light exercise? How much should I increase my calories? I used a TDEE calculator and it said my maintanance would be 1800kcal if I were to work out 1 to 3 times a week, 1560kcal if I wanted a mild weight loss and 1300kcal if i wanted to lose weight. Honestly I'm happy at my current weight, and I know I should eat more, but until proper workouts I'm not so sure how much more. Once I start those workouts I'll definitely stick to 1600-1800kcals a day, but with just yoga and stretching, should I even bother?

Thanks in advance!

I have a very strange problem that I need help with

So I'm fat. Been fat (again) for the last 2 years. There is one specific thing that really bothers me and I don't know how to deal with it (without weight loss).

This is gonna sound funny but I have trouble keeping my legs closed. Basically I need to "manspread" when sitting.

But I like going to the cinema. And I can't manspread there. But if I keep my legs closer to each other they start shaking like 20 mins into the movie and it's really uncomfortable. My solution last time was to hold the pants near my knees together with my hands.

I am seriously considering bringing like a belt or something for the next movie and use it to hold my legs together.

Seriously, how to other fat people deal with this problem? Do they just not care that they are rubbing their knees on the people next to them? My local cinemas don't really have much space between seats.

Just found this sub! My journey so far

Started my weight loss journey last April.

Male, 29yo, 6,1”, starting weight of 245.

Was always skinny as a teen and in my young twenties. Started experiencing that food was sticking to me different after I turned 25. Fast forward to age 28, wife got pregnant and I ate right along with her through the whole time. Only thing is she stayed skinny while growing a baby bump.

So after the nine months, son being born in December, and the first 4 stressful months of first time fatherhood, I ballooned to 245. I felt like shit, was the most out of shape I have ever been in my life.

Decided to change it! Started with only diet for the first 9 months. I did a mix of OMAD when it felt right and CICO. Kept it to about 1,800 calories a day.

By the end of last year I successfully worked down to 205 lbs. but I noticed results were slowing and I wasn’t losing but just constantly fluctuating between 203-210.

January this year I started working out. Combination of weightlifting and cardio. Stared at 3X week. Results came quickly in my body composition. Now I am up to 5-6X workouts per week about 60 minutes per workout. It’s a mix of 40 minute resistance training and a 20 minute HIIT cardio routine or a 20 minute resistance “maintenance” training followed by 40 minute endurance cardio.

I am now down to 190 lbs!!! But the best part is my man boobs are gone and have some pec definition, My arms are toned, and my 34” waist pants fit again!!!!!

Anyone can do it if you put in the effort and are determined to change.

As I continue to gain some muscle I know my weight loss will slow down. I’m hoping to be about 180 by the end of the year through various cuts and bulk phases so I finally have a body I’m proud of!

Good luck to all!

FIRST STONE DOWN

Actually a stone and a pound but who cares?

So chuffed as this is the furthest I’ve ever gotten with weight loss and I think this will be the run that sticks. Super grateful for this sub, and everyone that motivated me. I found what helped me to stick to this one was to find snacks that you actually like (don’t pretend and say you like something just because it’s what other users say they like). For me, hot Cheetos (named hot cheeto twirls) in the uk come in a 72g bag and are around 370 calories for the bag. Decent amount of Cheetos and the heat and crunch of the cheers really hit the spot when I eat them. Also in the uk we have these things called hippeas. They’re organic puffed chickpea crisps similar in shape to cheese puffs but I guess are more rustic. The flavours are decent and the taste is really similar so it was easy to make the swap. Also doing meal prep is super good for dieting. I find that if even one meal of the day is (meat, greens, rice) it fills me up and satisfy a me well through the day. Sadly though as a 6’3 22 st guy, it will take a long time to see much progress on my body. If you would like to, follow my account and you can see the daily posts I make that both keep me accountable and demonstrate that ups and downs and minor fluctuations occur all the time.

Time to change the flair!!!
