No or minimal Loose Skin after weight loss?

Hey y’all I’m o a major weight loss journey (I have 100+ to lose). And everything’s going okay so for however I like to think about the future and the topic of loose skin always come to mind. It’s a topic that haunts me because I’m deathly afraid of surgery and on top of that some people don’t even look that good after.

So that leads me to my question is there anyone who lost 100lbs+ and had no or very minimal loose skin after? I would love to hear about what you believed helped you to avoid it. As much as I’m doing this for my health I’m also doing it for aesthetics (maybe that’s even my number one reason 🌚).

P.S. no it will not effect my desire to lose weight. My family has all sorts of chronic illnesses that I’m seeing play out so yeah.

I need help! Should I cut or gain? What is the estimate for my body fat? How do I get my dream body? Details below!

Hello I'm 16 years old, I'm 5'6" and 134.5 lbs

I've been on a weight loss journey, while in quarantine I went crazy with food and bloated to 156.5 lbs.

I've went on a crazy diet since then, at the start it was rough I did an extreme calorie deficit and did a lot of cardio which didn't turn out well.

But after a couple of weeks I fixed that problem, I probably still cut too many calories but I relaxed on working out and was losing weight on a steady pace that wasn't too extreme, and now I've lost around 22 lbs!

While my diet wasn't perfect and I lost A LOT of muscle I also realized I lost a lot of fat too, I still have a fat face but back then it was really rough and I was just HUGE plus now clothes that I had a hard time fitting into is not a problem anymore and I'm very happy abt that!

But now this is my new problem, I'm skinny fat and also have stagnated in terms of weight loss and I really wanna change that.

I've been letting myself go for the last couple of weeks and straying alot from my diet plus I just became too lazy to work out consistently (I work out 2 times a week probably) so I've just been floating around 132-139 (water + food weight)

But now I'm very motivated to stick to a diet plan and work out so I have questions for y'all but before that let me explain some things!

First I don't have a set plan in terms of nutrition, it would be too tough on my family to ask for a whole personal meal plan for me, so my nutrients aren't consistent. I could eat veggies and the right amount of meat one day to just eating McDonald's the next

Secondly this is the most important part, I'm not striving to have a body builder's body or anything like that tbh I'm very happy that my arms and legs look really skinny in pictures (sorry if that sounds weird), it's just that I really want to shed my belly and chest fat so so much.

I don't really care about having a six pack or a humongous chest tbh, while they both would be very nice I just want a nicely toned flat stomach and no little man-boobs. That's really all I could ask for tbh, I guess u could say I want a nicely toned skinny body??

So the questions are 1. Should I cut or gain? 2. What is the estimate for my body fat rn and what should I strive for it to be? 3. How can I achieve the body that I want as I explained before?

Here are my pics for reference too! https://imgbox.com/LdTE1mne

Oh and also I'm kinda bloated in these pics cause I just got done with a day of overeating and it's like 11 PM LMFAO but in the morning it's usually the same but sometimes I'm quite skinny when I wake up, it's pretty weird

Helping a family member lose weight

Hi I’m a mother 35f and I have a daughter f18 I’m worried about her health as she is weighing in at 25 + stone which I think is around 360 lbs but I could be wrong . Anyway the weight is effecting her as she has a bad back , her mobility is effected as she can’t walk as far for that long and even has a lift pass for college that we had to ask for as stairs weren’t kind to her , I’ve tried making healthy meals but she has a part time job and just buys unhealthy snacks and takeout food aswell as eating my meals which is inevitably making her like on more weight , I’ve put this in a few places but have yet to have a really helpful reply I’m so scared and worried for my daughter so if you can help it would be appreciated, any mention of weight loss and exercise to her and an argument starts and I get hurled with abuse and bad language I don’t know what to do as I don’t want my daughter to become bed bound or ill

Anyone else get frustrated with their partner more after losing weight?

We used to be so compatible and I love her still, but it's so frustrating seeing her complain about her weight then overeating. I lost 120lbs with intermittent fasting, and all she's done is complain or say she can't do it. If I can do it, so can she.

I wish she could just stick to a diet like I did and we could be fit and healthy together. Whenever we go on walks or bike rides she complains the whole time and needs constant breaks and snacks. Just have a bit of willpower!! I've snapped at her a few times over it and I know it makes her feel bad.

She was upset yesterday because I now weigh less than her, but she then ate half a tube of pringles an hour later..

I'm trying not to be a controlling boyfriend but how hard is it to just not buy them in the first place? I don't like telling her what she should and shouldn't eat. Her overeating is a huge turn off too. She's gained weight in the relationship and I'm losing attraction, especially because I'm now fitter myself. I try and educate her about healthy eating and weight loss but it doesn't stick.

She gives up on diets after a week. It makes me kind of mad because I know how much she hates her body and how happy she could be if she managed to lose it.

She is also quite unsupportive of my diet too, always trying to get me to eat bad food or saying I'm starving myself or exercising too much. I'm not, I'm healthy.

She is a good girlfriend though. She is extremely loving and caring and does everything around the house for me. She was never bothered by my weight. I don't want to break up over this but our lifestyles are now so different.

How can I help her without getting annoyed??

I think I've Plateaued... Need suggestions

Hello r/LoseIt folks! I've been dieting and working out since July 5th of this year. Trying to get in to better shape after seeing my weight get out of hand and a Doctors appointment that didn't go well, along with blood work that showed I had high cholesterol and blood sugars. So I made the decision to change and to start getting serious about my weight. I'm only in my early 30's and I want to be around for my wife for as long as I can be.

Now, that said, the first month of my diet I was eating extremely healthy, weighing and measuring and counting calories, keeping myself accountable. Within the first month I lost 20 pounds and was feeling great. I switched things up to try to eat more along the lines of the "Anabolic" diet that's pushed by folks like Greg Doucette and I find it to be easy and sustainable. I have no problem hitting my macros of 200g of protein, 90g fat, and 100 carbs while staying in a calorie deficit and coming in around 1600-1800 calories a day. I'm also drinking a lot of water, hitting over 6k steps per day, and being sure to hit my daily activity goals of at least 60 minutes. I love the food, the recipes and it feels more sustainable. I did that diet for a second month and lost about 12 pounds. When I entered my 3rd month, I figured I'd see a slow down, but not a grinding halt like I've seen. The good thing is I'm not going UP, I'm staying in place. For about 2 weeks now I've stayed at roughly the same week with a +/- of 2 pounds. I've been hovering right at 30 pounds total lost and the lowest I've dipped is to -33 lbs before going back up to -30.

I figured at some point that my body would do this, needing a moment to sort of "catch up" to the weight loss. But I'm just getting a bit discouraged that I'm hovering at the same weight for weeks now without any real noticeable changes in weight, BMI, or body fat %. I've been using a digital scale by Renpho that gives results of a "scan" done while weighing, but there's been no change in the data. I'm not seeing trends one way or another. A few days ago I was down about 2 pounds from where I'm at now, but then it went right back up to where it's been and hasn't budged. I try to weigh myself first thing in the mornings after using the bathroom and before eating or drinking anything to make sure I'm at my "lightest". After a week of this, I tried cutting out some of the big suspects I thought it could be. The minimal bread I eat, or the fat free cheese, but cutting that stuff out for two weeks showed no real results and my weight stayed the same. So... I think I've plateaued. Should I just keep going with what I'm doing and eventually my body will kick back in to gear and the weight will start falling off again? Or should I be looking at possibly needing to change up my diet?

What have you all done when you run in to this sort of thing?

10 Seasonal Spices for Your Autumn Menu

There are many reasons to add spices to your food. The most obvious might be the varying rich flavors that different spices can contribute to your meals without adding any calories, fat, sugar or salt. But research also indicates that fall spices can have health benefits as well. Adding spices to your dishes just may help boost your immunity or contribute to overall better health.

Let’s look at 10 seasonal spices that will add delicious flavor—and health advantages—to your autumn menu:

1. Cinnamon

Cinnamon is a popular autumn spice

Derived from the inner bark of trees in the Cinnamomum genus, cinnamon is one of the most popular and well-known fall spices out there. It adds a distinctive flavor to many different baked goods, breakfast cereals and even hot drinks. But this aromatic spice also has some valuable health benefits. For instance, a recent study, published in the Journal of the Endocrine Society, found that cinnamon may improve blood sugar control among prediabetic people. Cinnamon is also known to be loaded with powerful antioxidants such as polyphenols, believed to have disease-fighting capabilities and even help with weight management.

This Cinnamon Apple Parfait is a great way to get the most out of this delicious fall spice. You can also start your fall mornings with a cinnamon-flavored breakfast from Nutrisystem! You’ll love our Cinnamon Brown Sugar Oat Square and Cinnamon Streusel Muffin.

2. Ginger

Ginger is a delicious fall spice with health benefits

Fresh ginger is said to be slightly peppery while simultaneously sweet. It adds delicious flavor to food while also serving as a natural antihistamine and decongestant. A review of literature, published in Jundishapur Journal of Natural Pharmaceutical Products, has shown some evidence that ginger can help prevent colds, prevent and soothe a sore throat, reduce congestion and reduce inflammation. It has also long been used to calm and upset stomach or nausea. Add fresh ginger to soups, stir-fries, or even make a cup of ginger tea.

3. Nutmeg

Nutmeg is a delicious spice to add to your fall menu

This spice is known for its warm, nutty flavor and can really liven up a number of dishes by adding some sweet and savory zeal. Like other fall spices, nutmeg is known to contain powerful antioxidants, says Phytochemistry Reviews. Because of this, it has been used in traditional remedies for stomach and kidney disorders. While you might think of nutmeg mostly in terms of adding flavor to baked goods, it can also pair well with beef or add unique flavor to certain vegetables like kale or squash.

4. Rosemary

Rosemary is a delicious fall spice to accompany your food and drinks

This fragrant evergreen herb is native to the Mediterranean and a member of the mint family. It is a good source of iron, calcium and vitamin B-6. According to the Journal of Medicinal Food, there have also been some small clinical trials linking rosemary to cognitive health. In terms of flavoring food, rosemary can be used fresh or dried to enrich the flavor of meat and vegetables.  Rosemary sprigs can also be used to infuse flavor into olive oil or various beverages. As with any spice, its flavor-enhancing abilities just may have you eating healthier. For instance, these Rosemary Kale Chips are a great way to get more greens into your day.

5. Cloves

Cloves are a versatile fall spice

Cloves are the flower buds of the clove tree and in ground form can make a versatile spice that can flavor many dishes such as sauces, soups and rice. Cloves are often paired with cinnamon or nutmeg for seasonal dishes. In addition to containing vitamins and minerals, cloves are also high in antioxidants which can help contribute to overall good health, says the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry. According to Sultan Qaboos University Medical Journal, cloves have also been shown to have some antimicrobial power. We have found that cloves pair well with eggplant and beets for more flavorful and unique veggies.

6. Allspice

Allspice has anti-inflammatory properties

Contrary to popular belief, allspice is not a blend of various fall spices. Instead, it’s a distinctive ingredient from the dried unripe berry of the Pimenta dioica tree, indigenous to the Caribbean as well as Mexico and Central America. It got its name thanks to its flavor similarities to cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and pepper. The anti-inflammatory properties of allspice make it a good choice for upset stomachs and nausea, says the peer-reviewed journal, Current Cancer Drug Targets. Its antioxidant power also makes it good to boost overall health and immunity. Try sprinkling a pinch of allspice on roasted vegetables for some warm flavor.

7. Cardamom

Cardamom is a sweet, intense spice that brings health benefits

Cardamom is an Indian spice known for its intense and subtly sweet flavor. It is sometimes equated to the flavor of mint. According to the Indian Journal of Biochemistry and Biophysics, the antioxidant power of cardamom might be responsible for lowering blood pressure. It’s been used for thousands of years to aid in digestion, stomach discomfort and nausea, says Healthline. Cardamom pairs well with poultry, lentils and rice dishes. We also suggest boosting the flavor factor of your oatmeal with a sprinkle of cardamom.

8. Vanilla

Vanilla is a delicious baking staple that can add powerful flavor

Vanilla’s antioxidant power is one of its most valuable benefits, says Livestrong.com. We most often cook or bake with vanilla in the extract form. However, when used as a powder or paste form, it can add powerful flavor. While we usually think of adding vanilla to desserts—and that’s certainly where it shines—vanilla can also offset the acidity of tomatoes, such as in salsa recipes.

9. Saffron

Saffron pairs well with fish and rice

Saffron is a spice derived from the flower commonly known as the “saffron crocus.” It is one of the most precious spices in the world and is therefore not cheap. However, it will add a subtly sweet and totally luxurious taste to dishes that you’ll appreciate. We think it pairs fantastically well with fish and rice. Like the other fall spices, it can be powerful in terms of its antioxidant abilities. Murdoch University has found, “saffron can enhance the quality of sleep in adults who have been experiencing poor sleep.”

10. Pumpkin Spice

Pumpkin spice is a blend of flavors that are quintessential to fall

Finally, what can be more quintessentially fall than pumpkin spice? Pumpkin spice is actually a blend that includes cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger and allspice. Some blends even add in cardamom and cloves for added sweetness. This means that in addition to putting you in a festive mood, pumpkin spice can also have some of the combined health benefits of these various fall spices. Of course, if you get your pumpkin spice fix with processed baked goods or a calorie-laden drink, those benefits may be negated. Therefore, we recommend trying a healthier recipe, like these Pumpkin Spice Bars or this Skinny Pumpkin Latte.

Emotional abuse with weight loss?

It's been a pretty ugly year for me with a family fallout in July/August; when it happened I wanted to take charge of myself because at the time I felt like a spector in my own life. Since then I've been doing a lot of skipping and I can jussst fit into my old shorts again - horray!

The only problem is that my mother isn't very supportive, not that she doesn't want me to feel good about my body - rather she makes me feel bad about myself when she's trying to be encouraging. I get that she's a healthcare professional but for two years she was pretty rude about my body, criticising me under the guise of "health" when at the same time she called me fat behind my back; isn't too crazy about body positivity (which has been helping me find my path for weight loss).

How do you deal with people who are trying to be helpful when they're just rude? I'm wearing these shorts and now I'm not sure I even want her to see me in them cause I'm afraid she'll hurt my feelings - she even bought me a set of scales, when she know that's not how I've been going about this.
