MacroFactor

I've been watching Jeff Nippard's videos over the years and recently he mentioned MacroFactor. It's a weight loss app similar to MyFitnessPal where you track your weight, log the food you've eaten, and upload progress pictures.

However, where MacroFactor differs is it's "check in" mechanic. Unlike MyFitnessPal, which gives you a very rigid set of macro and calorie restrictions, MacroFactor "learns" from what you eat and how much weight/body fat you lose in order to calculate expenditure.

Jeff is an Investor in MacroFactor and says that it uses a combination of algorithm and AI-based decisions in order to identify what your true caloric expenditure is. This number is completely dynamic, and it moves up and down every day, stabilising after roughly 3 weeks of constant logging.

It also provides weekly check in sessions where the app reviews your progress and readjusts your macros to better fit your circumstances. The app is paid, but since I started using it a month ago, I've lost 9lbs (I started 16% bodyfat, 180lbs. Now down to 171lbs, 14.8% body fat). I'm using it to get down to roughly 12.5% body fat.

I think the fact i'm paying for it makes me more inclined to record everything. But if you're struggling with focus, give MacroFactor a try. The UI is a little funny but you get used to it. Took me about a week to get into the groove.

Weight loss takes so long

Currently 317lbs at 5ft. A lot of medical issues as well as mental health and undiagnosed adhd caused me to be reckless about my health. I'm currently on the journey to losing weight and have lost 23lbs since January.

Sometimes I feel hopeless. I've weighed too much since I was 5 years old. I hate my body and I hate seeing photos of me. I hate how I have to face people looking like this and wish I could just isolate myself.

I wish I could lose this body quicker. Weight loss takes so long and I feel like I'm trapped in this horrible body for ages. I just want to be thinner. I'm so tired of being unhealthy and obese.

I know that these negative feelings are bad for me and they don't help weight loss at all but I can't stop myself thinking about myself this way. It's all I have felt since I was a child. When I was a teenager, I ended up losing 70lbs but then put it back on again over my 20s. Back then it seemed so easy to eat healthily, I don't know why it's so hard for me now.

I could use some encouraging words today from you guys because I just feel super down.

just starting my journey -any recommendation on a scale to buy

preferably from amazon. want to lose 20 pounds by by birthday in september. sick of being overweight. hoping weight loss will open up job opportunities and relationship opportunities for me. I hear people treat you better when you look better. I'd like to track my daily progress. but not sure what scale to use. also is there a good app to use to track weight loss? guess I could just use excel.

Also is there anything I can do to avoid loose skin. lose weight slowly? weight training? thats my biggest fear. I dont want to have to get surgery but people say loose skin is unavoidable.

Losing weight but physique looks the same?

I’m 32, male, 1.8m and 90 kg. Target weight = 80 kg. Peak weight was 142 kg.

So, I’ve lost a lot of weight over the past few years. With that has come a huge change in my physique.

However, recently I was hovering at 103-105 kg. Finally broke through that plateau and am down to roughly 90 kg. I’ve not noticed any difference in my physique between 105 kg and 90 kg, and am worried now that I need to set my target weight even lower.

Has anyone else had this problem? I wouldn’t expect anywhere near a huge difference in physique dropping 10-15 kg, but there should be something. There’s still so much flab everywhere on my torso, that now I think I’ll need to see my target weight to 75 kg to have any chance of looking slim by the end of this.

TLDR: not seeing physique improvements towards end of my weight loss journey. Might lower goal weight.

Going to a wedding halfway through my weight loss and I’m nervous.

I’ve lost about 40 pounds recently and I’m going to my best friend’s wedding tomorrow, where I’ll see a bunch of people who haven’t seen me in years. I feel like I should be excited—and I am! I’m thrilled for my friend and I’m so excited for her and her fiancĂ©. It’s their day, it’s not like I’m the focus. But why am I so anxious to let people see me in a body that’s physically much different? I have about 30-ish more pounds to lose.

I don’t know. I just wish I was more secure in myself than I am. You think you lose weight and you’ll automatically be more confident, but I still see so much that needs to be fixed. How do I celebrate myself and focus on supporting the bride and groom?

Let’s talk about belly buttons lmao

27F here! I’ve lost 100-150 pounds or possibly more (because I’m not sure of my highest weight.) My skin is starting to sag all around where my stomach used to be so full of fat. I feel like the more I lose, the further it hangs down and it’s driving me crazy. But even worse, my belly button. It’s so long now because the skin hangs down and it’s just a gross mess in this summer heat. I work mostly outside during the day and by time I get home my belly button is wet, red, swollen and it’s pretty painful sometimes. It also gets a gross gunk when I try any products around the area. The fold between my stomach where it now hangs also gets red and rashy. I’ve tried deodorant and powder and baby rash cream. It just makes both areas more red or gunky. Also even grosser.

Has anyone that had this problem found anything that helps? I’m tired of feeling gross and it stinks lol! It’s so sad because I want to enjoy the fact that I’ve lost so much weight and it’s just a hassle everyday. I’ve also noticed that I actually have so much lose skin. I know I’ll need surgery because there’s so much. Any advice on how to not be so scared about the idea of getting surgery so that I can live more comfortably now? I never even thought it would ever be a possibility!

I’m so excited that I’ve lost this much. It was mostly by walking all day for work which also involves some heavy lifting. I know you can make some skin better by weight training and I have a gym where I live but I’ve never gone inside because I don’t know where to start!

-thank you from a girlie who wasn’t expecting to actually ever lose weight

TL;DR: I lost a bunch of weight and am looking for recommendations on skin issues from said weight loss.

What Are Cheap, Non-Perishable Meal Prep Ideas? (Especially Protein for Vegetarians?)

So I'm noticing that I'm off the weight loss horse via not wanting to cook. The meals I usually make are pretty easy, but i always resort to already made meals that are packaged and belong to my family. (And I feel guilty about it because I'd never buy it myself due to budget.) I'm guessing this is because of convenience, but also because I don't like the weighing of food an inopportune times every single time I want a meal. I also noticed I forget to eat and end up binging in the late evening/night on absolute crap like lavash bread. Just plain lavash bread.

Currently, I have a collection of:

- A lot of eggs.

- Low cal cheese for omelettes.

- A reliable supply of tomatoes. (Borrow from family.)

- A variety of hot sauces.

- Frozen veggie mix.

- A collection of protein powders packets (self made,) I usually combine with ice cream to make a diet ice cream shake. (For emergency binge situations.)

- Frozen berries that I layer with ice cream. (Problem here is I don't usually stop with the plain ice cream sometimes, but ok if I don't touch it from the get go.)

- Some popcorn packets. (That are a bit to small and the other nice brand is somehow less quality. I'l have to buy that in another area soon.)

- Protein rich peanut butter.

- Ingredients for seitan, but no functional oven. I do have a mini oven and an air frier though. Just not sure if its worth using materials on.)

Aaaand...I think that it?

For reference I eat 1,200 Cal a day and hence distribute my meals by max 400 Cal. Keep in mind that sometimes I use a collection of snacks as a meal, especially something like popcorn, where the volume is satiating. The other part that's important is some protein since I struggle with that one. A combination of protein and volume would be great.

Anything you would recommend to buy or make that is generally cheap and can last at least 3 days? (Maybe a week if Im ok on skimming quality?)
