I've lost 58 pounds in the last 3 months.

I'll be 31 this year. 3 months ago I hit 276 pounds and I was trending upwards. I read an article that was talking about how visceral fat cells are actually part of the endocrine system, i.e., they release hormones. The hormones that visceral fat releases increase your risk factor for all kinds of shitty diseases. It must have been the straw that broke the camel's back because I resolved to lose 60 pounds by my birthday.

I wanted to track my progress so I made myself a weight loss dashboard where I could enter my weight and waistline measurements. This way I couldn't lie to myself about my progress depending on my state of mind. That includes both excusing a cheat day by imagining that I'm losing more weight than I am as well as getting depressed and imagining I'm not losing enough weight. The numbers keep my moods accountable to facts.

The last 3 months I've been walking, climbing stairs, and occasionally running almost every day and restricting my diet to around 1000 calories per day with no carbs and no sugar (except fruit). I don't usually like to spend a lot of time preparing and planning my meals so my staples have included fried eggs, babybel cheese, feta/tomato/mushroom omelette, carrots, mashed cauliflower + feta, corn, cucumber + hummus, apples, bananas, strawberries, shakshuka. That's about it.

I'm 6' 4" and have gone from 276 lbs to 218. I'm quite pleased. I'll probably keep going towards 200 albeit at a more modest rate.

So tired of losing the same 5 pounds over again

I’m a 18 y/o female, 5’2, 175 lbs and have been trying to lose weight off and on for the past 1 & 1/2 years. At first when trying to lose weight, I was so excited and had all of the motivation in the world. But here I am, a year later heavier than when I first started. At first when losing weight, I would just eat healthy but it got boring. This year, I recently started doing calorie counting. I was eating 1,200 calories for about 2 months and loss 7 pounds. I was getting frustrated because I wasn’t losing weight fast enough, 7 pound in two months??? While only eating 1,200 calories. Fast forward to now, I’m eating 1,300 calories but can’t stop going over my deficit.

As you can probably tell, I have no self discipline & a quitter. Weight loss has become a boring & repetitive thing to me. I feel like a car who just won’t start up no matter what. The only positive thing that has come out of this whole thing is holding myself accountable. I don’t want to quit, because if I do it’s only going to get worst. It’s like my mind just makes up reasons on why I should hold off on doing something or just simply not do it. If anybody has any tips or words of encouragement it would really really help, even if it’s something small. Hopefully my next post on here would be a progress pic.

Eating lower than my Tdee but not losing any (or enough)?

F23, HW: 398lb, CW: 331lb, GW: 175lb

I started my weight loss journey almost 8 months ago and have lost 67lb.

At 398, my tdee was 2800 calories but I ate about 2200 calories for the first 2-3 months. I lost 8-10lb every month.

Month 4-5, I lowered tdee to 2000-1800, and lost 8-9lb monthly. But I would eat around 1500-1800 not because I was trying to starve myself its just that I was always busy or never hungry so it wasnt an issue.

Month 6-8, Ive been eating 1800 calories on average and my weight loss was 7-8lb monthly. But this last month ive barely lost 4lb. I cant lower calories more than this because I wont be full and will want to binge. But im also not losing shit and its really getting to me. Ive been stuck in the low 330s forever. Its not a plateau because Ive had those before and go back to losing 8-10lb. But now I keep losing and gaining the same 2 pounds.

Im worried that Ive Fu*ked up my tdee and metabolism. I want to try eating more to see if that would work because sometimes under eating causes weight loss to slow. But Im scared to gain weight because it seems on days I eat 50 calories over, I gain the next day.

Any advice? I workout 5 times a day with cardio and weights. I can see a change in the clothing getting bigger and my body toning up. But theres something about the number on the scale going down thats the only mental indication of success lol.

Newbie looking for inspo!

Hey, new here and starting out on my weight loss journey after gaining a LOT of weight in the last couple of years, greatly exacerbated by the pandemic and forced WFH, lockdowns etc.

A bit about me: Middle aged female with a mainly sedentary lifestyle, deskbound job and little to no motivation!!

I have started a healthy eating regime so many times over the last 18 months but am determined to stick to it now after having to buy plus size jeans.

So, here I am, starting slow and steady by logging calories in MFP, significantly increasing my water intake and starting to exercise (15 - 20 mins daily on exercise bike plus a 30 min walk every other day with a view to build on that gradually week by week) which is harder than I ever thought it would be!

Have had a look at some of the inspiring and motivational posts in this sub, and hope to be sharing some positive news in the near future!!

3 years dieting. Disappointed by results

Hello. I know there are probably countless posts like these but I’d really appreciate some insight from someone who’s been in a similar position/has knowledge. I’m 18, F, 168 cm and weigh 62-63 kg. I started my fitness journey three years back and got into lifting weights. Before I hired a PT I’d just eat one guava, a glass of milk and vegetables with fish for dinner (my parents suggested this and monitored). It helped me drop 10 kg initially and I continued this while lifting. By going to the gym I saw some muscle definition but I still looked fat and out of shape. My PT advised me drop my calories further and do cardio leading to days where I’d just eat one apple and an egg, but after 3 months I started feeling weak. weirdly enough when we calculated my statistics I was still at the same bf and a kg lower. I got a nutritionist who put me on a 1000 calorie diet later (tracked with scales and myfitness pal) I lost the weight but the diet wasn’t sustainable for me. Went to 57 but back to 62. I then tried Heidi Powell’s carb cycling. Had results of weight loss but again, the diet isn’t sustainable where I live. Jan 2020 I decided to eat 1400 and consistently work out with cardio+ Weights for an hour and a half, 10k steps, and have plenty of water. now it’s June 2021 and I have the same measurements. I have meticulously tracked everything and am trying my best but I feel so hopeless. Any advice?

I lost nearly a stone

I have lost 13 pounds since February which is great. I haven't really changed that much in terms of food. I just cut down on bread and weetabix and I still have a treat once a week. I have upped my fruit and veg intake and I try to drink as much water as I can. I have wraps more than bread these days but I still have bread some days too. I don't know if this helps with weight loss but I have also switched from regular tea and coffee to decaff and it doesn't taste any different. I don't believe in fully cutting things out because I think if I do that I will only want and crave it more so I believe cutting down on things is the best for me. I do work 3 times a week on tidy towns which involves a good bit of exercise and I do gardening and walking to. I started out at 18 stone 4 pounds and now I'm 17 stone 5 pounds. I follow the forums on healthunlocked and now I am going to try and post here as often as I can to get and give advice and support

[tip] changing weekly deficit

Hi, everyone! I thought I’d share my biggest breakthrough that has been helping me recently. I used to say- I don’t care how much weight I lose a week as long as I’m actively losing. Of course, it’s still pretty difficult to lose weight without keeping track of calories, so I still need to do that. But lately what I’ve been able to do is change my weekly deficit based on how I’m feeling that week!

Is it a week with a birthday, three day weekend where you’re more likely to eat out, tough week and you just want fast food, etc? Okay, my deficit goal is 250-500 cal below my maintenance per day. I’ll still lose weight as long as my calorie counts are accurate, and at the end of the day a year from now when I’m 50 pounds lighter I won’t remember this one week where I lost a quarter pound or half pound instead of a full pound or even two pounds. But I’ll certainly appreciate it in the moment when I can eat take out with my family for someone’s birthday and still be within my goal!

On the other hand, feeling super bloated? Weight loss has been stalling? Just not feeling motivated with only a pound or so of weight loss a week? Okay! Step it up for a couple weeks, bump the deficit goal up to 750-1000 cal below maintenance per day for a week or two. It might take me a little longer than someone who is consistently eating at 1000 below maintenance and losing two pounds a week, each week, but I just can’t manage that type of lifestyle- it makes me miserable.

I hope this helps someone!
