Any other women over 50 here that want to connect?

No offense to the younger people! But women over 50 have some specific challenges when it comes to a lot of things and weight loss is one of them! Menopause is hard, hot flashes fucking suck, our hormones are in the toilet (unless you're taking hormones which if you are, more power to you), etc etc. Which does not make it impossible, just different, much different than even in our 30s/40s.

Anyway just wondering if there are any here who'd like to connect (virtually).

Personally I'm 51 (edited because for some reason I wrote 52 lol! I'm not 52 yet geez), 5'4 and 162 lbs which is really not a healthy spot for me. I carry all of my weight around my midsection so I need to get some of it off, it's hurting my body in more ways than one! I know how to lose weight but I struggle with keeping it off / yo-yoing, and also I have a binging habit that sometimes I do better than others with. Working on it!! But I don't have a good support system for this in my life, so it would be great to build a community here.

How do you record your journey in a positive way?

I have over 200 pounds to lose and I want to find a way to share my experiences with others who are in a similar situation. My hope is that I can inspire others and provide a resource that is body positive and unlike the weight loss related content I typically see.

I have thought about starting a blog or a YouTube channel, but both of those seem to not be the best match, because I want to reach a wider audience. On the other hand, I’m concerned about the inevitable trolls and my highly sensitive personality.

I feel like I have something to offer and I would love to share as I continue my journey, but I don’t want to muck up my self esteem from trolls comments. However the urge to share is higher than my fears - but I don’t want to go into this just assuming I’ll be fine, without a plan of sorts.

Any suggestions or thoughts? If you have lost weight or are on that path now, did you record the process? If so, how, and how did you decide on the best method for yourself? How do you handle the trolls?

Confused About New Diet Effects

I am 5' 3" 220lbs.

A month ago I drastically changed my diet and started working out. This comes one year after I was diagnosed with extreme B vitamin defeciency from MTHFR. I've been taking therapeutic levels of vitamin B for the past year and finally felt good enough to work out.

For the first time ever, I have not been hungry, weak, or injury prone. Infact, most days I don't even think about eating and exercise is incredibly easy and unpainful. This is a massive shift from my day to day life. Prior to this diet, I was constantly hungry no matter how much I ate, and working out was absolutely excruciating.

This sounds incredible, right? Well, now I'm having a problem I've never had before. I'm not eating enough according to everything I know and understand about weight loss and health. I do an hour each day of high intensity elliptical but on a good day I barely hit 1k calories consumed. Some days I have to force myself to drink a smoothie and it's all I want.

Over the first two weeks I lost 15lbs without even trying. Now over the past two weeks weight loss has slowed down to an insane point for the calories I'm burning - 2lbs over two weeks. I count calories incredibly carefully and I always end up very short. So, I know my body is freaking out. But then, why is it not telling me to eat and why do I feel incredible?

What I do eat is very healthy and I love it as a day to day "home" diet. Fish, rice, vegetables, yogurt, fruits, healthy granola. This food makes me feel amazing. For cheat meals I will have dinner with friends. One was a burger and fries (a few bites of burger and like 10 fries), another I had a slice of pizza. But these foods made me feel like shit (headache, burning joints the next day), so I'm not able to eat most of the meal and honestly don't want to.

I am so frustrated and annoyed. For the first time in my life I find a diet I feel good on and an excercise routine that feels great, but it still isn't "right". I really, really don't want to starve my body. Did all my previous attempts on a b vitamin deficit feel so terrible that actually starving feels better? My doctor has been completely unhelpful, just saying to eat healthy. Has anyone experienced something similar? Is it possible my body is just in shock with all the changes and I need to give it time? Idk, I'm so lost.

Need advice

Hi everyone! I need advice on how getting past the Plateau.

To begin I'm on contrave for weight loss and so far it's been very helpful and great. I started my weight loss journey around the end of July (sw:223) and now my current weight is 198 . It seems like for the past few weeks I haven't been able to see much difference in my weight and I'm looking for advice on exercises I can try or things I can do to see that number go lower as well as tone and gain muscle.

For reference, my goal weight is around 165 and my height is 5"3.

For those on Ozempic, when did you begin to notice the reduction in appetite?

I was just put on Ozempic for weight loss and took my first injection this evening. I’m already down about 14-16 pounds via CICO and lifestyle changes, and hoping this medication helps with my excessive hunger and borderline obsession with food.

I’ve heard really good feedback about people like me with Ozempic so I’m excited. Not looking for a “cheat code” to losing weight, but simply something to help turn down the food noise that’s ever present in my head and making it difficult to stay in my deficit.

Looking to get an idea of what to expect with my appetite and when I should expect to start feeling the effects. For those of you who have taken Ozempic, when did you truly notice your appetite curbing? Thanks!

How do I learn to handle stress and cravings?

I just got a new job, and I spent most of the week binging due to anxiety and stress. I wasn’t hungry but I was eating - it wasn’t even things I was “craving.” I just wanted to eat junk food to reduce my stress. Stressful things are going to continue to happen, so I have to find another solution to handling my stress.

On top of that, the last two months I’ve had multiple days where I’ve struggled to get though waves of intense craving. I’m not hungry, I just want something to snack on (usually it’s at night, after dinner, and I usually want chips or something sweet).

Obviously this kind of thing can’t continue if I want to make my weight loss sustainable. How do I learn to handle these?

(note: I can’t just “not bring the chips/sweets I crave in the house” - they’re not mine. My family is overweight and I can’t dictate their diets. They also really don’t care if I eat their snacks. I am allowed to have healthy foods in the house, I can’t tell them not to have their unhealthy foods).
