NSV: my weight loss plateaued!

So I lost 20 pounds in the last 6-7 months with a mild deficit. But my slow and steady weight loss ground to a halt this July. I spent three weeks absolutely spinning out about this, why did I plateau, is weight loss and a healthy BMI just not in the cards for me, was this because of my steps, eating out too much, an undiagnosed disorder or hormonal problems. I was checking all the TDEE calculators and couldn't figure out what was going wrong. In January 2026 it said I'd need to eat 1900 calories for mild weight loss but when I rechecked in July it said more like 1700, and I was like, they must have changed the formula, or wait, no, I calculated everything wrong, how did I screw up this badly?? Then it hit me that I've lost sufficient weight that my "deficit" has become my maintenance. Lol. I somehow forgot about this very basic fact because I never thought I'd be in this position! A happy cautionary tale about recalibration for others who are doing this for the first time too :)

Crunchy taco shells, store bought shells, or just make a taco bowl for weight loss? Tacos shell ideas 🌮

A little background: I started my diet and gym routine over a month ago. I was 216; I'm now fluctuating between 205 and 207. I feel like the beginning was a lot of water and inflammation because I've been 205-207 for like 2 weeks now, and it just won't go below 205. I can't wait to get out of the 200s! Anyways ( sorry quick rant ), but yeah anyways, I’m trying to make my usual tacos a little healthier while losing weight, but I really love crunchy taco shells. 🌮🌮
Normally I fry tortillas and fill them with lean ground turkey, cheese, lettuce, tomato, avocado, cilantro, and onion. So would you use store bought crunchy taco shells, bake/air fry corn tortillas instead of frying them,
or just make a taco bowl and skip the shell completely?
I don’t want to make my diet unnecessarily restrictive, but I’d love ideas for keeping the tacos filling and lower calorie without losing that crunch. What do you guys do?

Help with meal planning

I’m (28m/240lbs/5’7) just starting on my weight loss and mental health recovery journey. I have severe anxiety about eating, ptsd from a severe allergic reaction, and have basically lived off of water, pizza, potato chips, and chicken for the last year or so. I want to make a change and I know that eating and working out will help my mental health. But I’m stuck on what to eat.

If I don’t plan what to eat, I just won’t eat. And then when I do eat, I binge because I don’t know when the next time I’m going to feel comfortable eating is.

I am allergic to peas, that’s what the severe allergic reaction was from. I have since totally avoided all lentils since they are related. I also experienced some mild allergies to apples, pears, bananas, and citrus fruit so I haven’t had any fruit in years.

I think I would be able to get myself to eat eggs, broccoli, potato’s, spinach, and Brussels sprouts. I would really appreciate any tips or advice. I like working out and just started going to the gym and walking more, but this diet thing really gets me down and I know it’s very important. And yes I am working with a therapist but it’s slow moving.

Why does my weight drop whenever I work from home?

I always hear people worrying that working from home (WFH) will make them gain weight, but I have the exact opposite problem, and it's making my goal to gain weight really difficult.
I recently finished a 3-month probation period where I had to work continuously from the office 5 days a week. During those 3 months, my weight stayed consistently around 55–56 kg. Now, I’ve been working from home for just one single month, and my weight has already dropped down to 53kg.

The exact same thing happened at my previous job: 5 days a week in the office kept me at 55–56 kg, but the moment I transitioned to WFH, it dropped all the way to 52 kg.

I eat the exact same amount of food in both environments maybe even slightly less when i am at office. Why does my body hold onto weight at the office but drop it at home? Has anyone else trying to gain weight run into this "WFH weight loss" trap?

How does your period impact the scale?

I know that everyone who has a period tends to experience weight loss much differently than people who don't. For example, EVERYONE has daily fluctuations, water weight retention.etc., but for those of us who have periods, our weight loss can look very different.

My weight loss tends to go in waves depending on where I am in my cycle. I lose weight as soon as my period hits and will continue to lose for another week until I plateau a bit. When I ovulate, the weight that I've been losing comes off again. I plateau again after that until the first day of my period. It's so incredibly aggravating because I sometimes will psych myself out and beat myself up for "not losing" when its really just fluctuations and water retention due to my cycle.

I'm really just trying to see how normal my pattern is and how many other people experience weight loss in alignment with their cycle. So, I'm curious, how does your period impact your weight loss?

I have failed multiple times at losing weight over 10 years, I am on a weight loss drug and I still crave and eat unhealthy food, I feel like I am possessed by some kind of unhealthy food demon, I am afraid for my life at this point

26M, I have been obese for like 8 years now, now way worse (145 Kg or however many pounds).

Nothing works. Or more importantly, nothing sticks. I feel like I am possessed by some kind of unhealthy food demon that makes me go bad overeating, overindulging and overstuffing myself no matter how I want to change.

I really want to change. My life is in danger from this. I am cognisant that if I don't change now, I may die in less than 10 years. I am fully aware of this reality and I ought to everything possible to prevent it.

I am addicted to the dopamine that food brings me. Completely addicted. There is no substitute for it in my life. Food is 50% of the joy I have in my life. I am naturally a pesimist, an introvert. Food is how I get some joy in life.

2 years ago I tried losing weight with a registered dietitian. It worked for 2 months, until I started eating junk food again after stress from college finals. Now since 2.5 months ago I am on Wegovy, and it doesn't work. I still want to eat junk. I am on vacation right now, and I still overindulge and eat my feelings away.

I have been on therapy for 10 years now due to anxiety and similar issues. So going to a therapist won't fix my indulging tendencies. I am afraid on what to do now, because the miracle drug is not working.

I, a grown man, fully aware of the consequences, still on a weekly basis, will raid the supermarket and buy unhealthy shit. I may do 1 week of healthy eating, and then I am back again addicted, like a crack addicted.

Has anyone been in my shoes and succeeded at changing? Because right now I feel utterly and completely defeated.

Not feeling much difference at almost 35 pounds down

25F, 5’1” SW: 225 CW: 192.2 GW: 135

I’ve been losing weight since April of this year. I’ve been working hard and it feels like I’ve been doing at least an okay job. After my second baby last July, I weighed the most I ever have, and I’m just trying to get closer to a normal weight for my height.

My mother in law planned a birthday party for me at a pool, which is very kind of her. I put on a swimsuit I haven’t worn in more than a year and a cover up dress in size XL that looked like it would fit with room to spare in the store. (Changing rooms were closed, so I know I took a gamble here lol)

I couldn’t believe how huge I felt. Both the swimsuit and cover up were so tight that I was uncomfortable. I’m so discouraged and feel like my almost 35 lb weight loss has done nothing for my body. I realize I’m being dramatic but I don’t even want to go so that no one has to see me. I just needed to rant, but if anyone has experience with something similar I’d love to hear how you overcame it.
