Another stall post

Hi. I’m sure this post is on here 1,00000 times because we all go through it and it’s discouraging. Hoping maybe someone could have some insight on why I’ve been stalled out for probably about three weeks. It’s heartbreaking really because I’ve been working so hard. Stats:

SW: 206 CW: 180 (this is what makes it even more frustrating I need the 170’s!) Height: 5’2

I’ve been seeing a nutritionist monthly as well as a metabolic doctor. I alternate between the two every month. Saw the doctor last month and he showed no weight loss since my December appointment and suggested I restrict myself more 🙄 I don’t like him lol. I see the nutritionist on the 14th and want to show some progress. I’m hoping when she does the fat percentage/body mass machine I can see some movement that way.

According to that machine, my BMR is 1385. Which lowered from when I started. I currently restrict myself to 1200 calories religiously so I’m in a deficit. I work out 5 days a week for about 90 minutes to 2 hours. This consists of cardio for about 30 mins and weight training the rest of the time. I just started weight training in December.

I try to restrict my carbs to around 50g a day and protein I strive to get over 80g a day. I’m planning on discussing my macros more when I see the nutritionist again. I’m trying not to restrict my diet too too much because I tend to binge. (Have not binged in a few weeks, I have an app that counts how many days it’s been 😛) Any body have any thoughts in the meantime? It’s hard not to want to eat crap when I’ve been stuck here in 180 land but I’m really trying to do my best to keep on keeping on. Thanks!

Started Weight Loss Challenge at Work

Hey All,

I don't expect you all to care too much about this, and I'm honestly not sure what I'm hoping to get out of typing it in the first place except to psych myself up. I started a weight loss challenge with a few other guys at work. We're going for 12 weeks and whoever loses the highest percentage of body weight will be the winner. I feel like I'm at a bit of a disadvantage here since I'm almost 100 lbs. heavier than the other guys, but I'm determined to do my best regardless. I've never done a weight loss challenge with anyone but myself so I'm hoping having to weigh in with other people will give me the motivation I need to finally become a not-so-enormous human being.

I've committed to going to the gym at least 3 times a week. I usually do about 15 minutes of weight machines in order to strengthen the shoulder I broke last year, then go on the elliptical for an hour. I've been getting over 5 miles consistently which I feel is pretty decent. Plus I end up covered in sweat so I figure that's a good thing. lol. I've also changed my eating habits. Getting salads instead of burgers, not going back for seconds when I know damn well I'm already full. Hell I even resisted having a doughnut when my boss brought them in and stuck the box right next to my desk all day.

We're only a few days into week 1, and I've lost 2 lbs. My goal is to be down to 270 by the end of this, which will be the lightest I've been in longer than I can remember. If I can keep a pace of about 4 lbs. per week, I'll make it there. Added bonus, the wife and I are taking a vacation to Disneyland shortly after the challenge ends, so I'm hoping I'll be able to fit more comfortably in some of the rides. I got turned away at Harry Potter Land in Universal Studios due to the safety bar not being able to fully close, and that was pretty much the most embarrassing thing that's ever happened to me. I fully intend to never have to worry about that again.

At any rate, thanks for reading my ramblings. I really hope that I can stay consistent. If there are any pointers you can give me, I'm more than open to them. I'm encouraged by your stories of success, and hope that soon I can create a similar post. :)

NSV

I'm trying to be more positive in my weight loss. I'm 5'7" and 165 lbs. About three years ago, I was steadily 148lbs. Then I gained 25 lbs. Then I lost 25lbs. Now I'm back to 165lbs. And I'm very, very mad at myself for not intervening sooner. However, I've accomplished some milestones the last month:

  1. I've started eating better. I eat a 70 calorie yogurt for breakfast. For lunch and dinner, I tend to have roasted chicken and veggies (brussel sprouts, squash (yellow), zucchini, mushrooms, and sweet potatoes). I love chicken thighs, but I'm realizing that they contain too many calories, so I might switch to breasts or drop meat from my rotation for lunch.
  2. I've stopped eating out a ton. I now eat out once every two weeks and I try to make it my only meal of the day (yogurt + apple for breakfast and lunch)
  3. I only drink tea (no milk or sugar), water, kumbucha, or seltzer. I'm very hydrated.
  4. I've gone to the gym at least 3 times a week for the last month. Each session is 45 minutes on the elliptical. I'm so proud of this because I am working on my PhD, teaching 20 hours a week and working 20 hours a week through a third job. But I get to the gym!
  5. I walk to and from work now, so I walk at least 50 minutes day.

I haven't lost weight during the last month, but I know why. I measure my food using a food scale but sometimes I sneak a brownie. As a result, my 1100-1200 calorie day becomes a 1500 or 1600 day. I'm not buying chocolate anymore, so problem solved.

This has been really hard, but you all have encouraged me with your posts. I may not have counted these changes as victories if not for seeing the NSV posted here.

New to the sub, no stranger to dieting

Hi all I’m 30, male, I’m at 208lbs right now and have been trying to crack the 200lb mark for a little while now. Some backstory. I’m 6’1”, large frame, broad shoulders, naturally muscular, a healthy weight for me is 180-190. That was the weight I was at until I hit 26 or so, I put on a bit of weight when I took an office job and went up to 245. I dropped a good chunk of that before I got married and have been pretty successful in keeping it off for the last two years. I stopped my weight loss routine(simple calorie counting) shortly before the wedding at 205lbs. My weight has fluctuated between 200 and 215 that whole time.

Now I’d like to get serious and hit the goal that I set for myself(185lbs). Ive made a few attempts since the wedding to get to my goal but I’ve always lost motivation before dropping below the 200lb threshold. I’ve been at it since the new year and have dropped 7lbs since then. I’ve been doing just calorie counting and have started walking and biking more as weather permits. My motivator now is different than looking good for my wedding. My 30th birthday brought me some grey hairs, so I’m more interested in my health! I realize I’m still young, but grey hairs were a wake up call that I should start taking better care of myself sooner rather than later!

Need advice on how to push passed the halfway mark.

I’m a 5’5” female, currently down 32lbs at 149lbs and want to lose around another 25lbs. I hovered around 150lbs for years and always struggled pushing past it in the right direction. I’m honestly not sure what it is. I usually do great up until this point and slowly fall back into old habits. Maybe it’s that the weight starts coming off slower and I get discouraged? Anyone else struggle with this? How did you overcome it?

On a side note, this is definitely the best I have ever done with weight loss. It has been a steady loss for a while now. If I’ve fallen off for a little bit I haven’t gotten discouraged and got right back into it. I’m not on any specific diet, just eating healthier and doing CICO.

Hitting the gym today!

I've been really good with food logging, eating healthy and light and being generally active (walking on my commute) over the last month or so, and have lost at least 10 lbs over that last month (December 21st was the first time I weighed in a while, probably weighed more before that). The one thing I haven't done in about a month or so is carve out some real good gym time. Well, last night, as I watched an episode of a weight loss show and I saw the guy on the show kicking butt in the gym, I resolved to get my butt to the gym too.

I was planning on going this morning, but had to end up getting to work really early because I had a lot of work to take care of. But I brought all my stuff with me as if I was going to go this morning, and I can't wait to get to the gym after work. I'm so excited to work and be sore tomorrow, I miss it.

I'm really happy because I think I finally found what gets me pumped and motivated to get to the gym: seeing other people working out. Here's to the gym!

Need help and support for losing weight.

Hello everyone, hopefully im in the right place. I'm looking for help and support on losing weight. I am a US Army veteran who is on the wrong side of the scale. I am currently 450 pounds. I never thought that this would happen to me. I use to be super fit. When I was in the military I run2 miles in 13 mins and Max's out my push ups and sit ups. I am 29 years old and feel so lost. I am so overweight that I can not even walk a block without my back hurting. Any advice would greatly be appreciated. I am considering weight loss surgery. However, I would like to take the natural approach. Thank you and godbless.
