(NSV) Kept a spreadsheet of my measurements and I realize my first entry was from 1 Jan 2019 and I lost 9” off my belly!!!!

I’ve been trying to lose weight my entire adult life and have yoyo-ed until the past 2 years where I’ve been quite consistent. Took my measurements today and looked back at my past measurements and I realize how far I’ve come! Here’s my stats

Waist (smallest part) - 31.5” > 26”

Waist belly (biggest part) - 36” > 27”

Hips - 44” > 36”

Thighs - 25” > 20”

Because my weight loss has been slow I sometimes don’t see my progress but actually comparing my stats from 4 years ago till now I can’t believe how much I’ve lost.

How to resist compulsive eating urges? My current weight loss story feat. months And months of no progress

Hey y'all. I am a male, 6'5", 370lbs. I walk for at least 45 minutes a day, am starting to lift weights, am working on eating nutritious, fulfilling foods, although I have been getting hammered by binge eating habits and compulsive eating behavior for, well, the past 5+ years really. I really just can't figure out how to simply avoid eating unhealthy food late at night. I will have a great day of healthy portions, good foods, and simply ruin my day and progress by giving into my desire to eat more at the end of the day. I even have a therapist that specializes in eating disorders and we haven't quite reached any breakthroughs on this subject (partially my fault?? Idk). It drives me insane, my weight is one of the only things holding me back in this life and I've been in a holding pattern since 2018 since becoming very obese. Please knowledgeable loseit give me your wisdom.

For what it's worth, I am on some prescription medication. It probably has some effects, but I don't really know how that ties into all this.

Lithium bicarbonate

Metformin

Fenofibrate

Vrylar

A little bit of Vyvanse for BED

I'm going to continue to ask my PA and therapist about weight loss, but I also don't just want drugs to solve my problem....

Tldr: where do I even begin to tackle my bad eating habits? How do I avoid succumbing to compulsive eating behavior? Thank you for reading.

Fitbit vs. Applewatch

I'm about to start on a fitness/weight loss journey and wanted to ask the hive mind which may be more useful/helpful. I know both are activity trackers, but there are definitely pro's and cons. I currently have an Apple watch and it's about 3.5 years old. I've seen the Fitbit app interface and seems more helpful and useful from a health standpoint. Plus I like only having to charge once a week+. I just wanted to ask the hive mind what your thoughts are on the subject and if there any tips/tricks I'm not aware of about the apple watch that may be more useful for health tracking. Thanks!

Stuck on my calorie deficit

I’ve been trying out a couple of variations when it comes to calorie deficit and every app i’ve used says that I should be eating around 1700 and I’ve been doing that for 3 weeks but I’ve seen no weight loss. Then I slowly started lowering my calories until I was eating around 1.200-1.300 calories a day and that’s when I saw significant weight loss. Is this sustainable? Should I keep this pace and not eat more or up my calories back to 1.700 or more ( I’ve seen some cases where they start losing weight when they start eating more). Any help is welcomed, thank you!

Lost 25lbs without exercise, should I be happy or concerned?

Hi everyone!

I’m not sure if this is the correct place to post, but wanted some advice

I was sitting at 315lbs, which was the highest weight I have ever been. Mainly due to working from home, being sedentary and not eating great.

I’ve moved to my partners parents house. And although I am still sedentary and not exercising at all minus extra stairs to climb in the house I have lost twenty five lbs in around three months.

The only thing that has changed is diet. Ironically considering my weight, I’m not a big eater. And normally only have lunch and dinner with occasionally a snack. At my old home we ordered takeout twice a week, drank a lot of alcohol and most food we ate was cheap and easy. Here at this house everything is home cooked and we have stopped drinking as often. I rarely snack now.

My question is, losing twenty five pounds was a massive surprise since I didn’t actually notice any changes. Is it possible that the food changes and drinking less has made me lose weight despite not exercising? Or do you think I should contact a doctor.

I’m not really educated on weight loss, or calorie deficits. So I’m not sure whether to be happy or worried haha!

Nice comments about weight loss are really affirming

It’s so great when people notice your progress. Recently I heard:

“I’m still not used to how skinny you are now!!”

“You’ve lost a shit-ton of weight on the Mediterranean Diet” (said while talking about something else)

Comments like these are definitely non-scale victories for me. Especially since I’ve been losing and gaining the same 2 lbs for the past 2 weeks, the fact that friends said both of those unprompted a couple of nights ago just feels nice. I hope each of you get nice comments as well! Wish you all the best!

how do i avoid the freshman 15?

Hello again! Over the last year or so that I've been posting in this sub I was taking something of an unintended gap year after graduating from pre-U. Recently I got offered a spot in one of the universities I applied to and I think I'm gonna accept it! I've also been trying to get back on track with weight loss lately and so far I've gone from somewhere around 96kg to 94-93! It's not much, but it's been a little over a week and I'm still getting used to a more protein rich, less calorically dense diet.

The issue being, I'll be going overseas to study, and with that, I'll have to manage my own food, which is its own blessing and curse. I've also heard about the freshman 15 and that's what I wanted to ask about. No doubt am I gonna be offered food and such throughout college, but I'm worried I won't be able to turn it down because I don't wanna be a killjoy or something.

What are some good ways to avoid the ~dreaded~ freshman 15?
