I don't check my weight

I've been on a weight loss journey since early last year, but after a brief period of time where for 2 months straight I saw 0 weight loss despite having a steady diet and going to the gym regularly, I stopped checking my weight completely

I've since lost a lot of weight (dropped a shirt size and pant size) and I'm still trying to lose what I assume is about 30lbs more, but I still have this fear in my mind that if I were to check my weight I'd still see that same fucking number that I saw for 2 months straight

NSV - Received my first compliment on my weight loss :)

Hi there!

I just wanted to share some big news with you all. Today a co-worker came up to me and told me I looked great and pointed out that I lost weight!

This is the first time someone noticed, and although I myself am not really able to see the change, I'm so happy to know that my hard work is paying off. It's easy to get discouraged when it seems like nothing is happening, but little reminders like this one today really make it worth it.

I used to think that I was just destined to be on the chubby side forever. I'm so glad I finally made the decision to do something about it and i grow more confident every day. CICO and my workouts really saved my life.

My Weight Loss Journey: Struggling at 21 Stone 10, Seeking Advice

Morning all,

Back in 2016, after the birth of our second child, I managed to shed an impressive 8 stone, going from 23 stone to 15 stone. However, I must admit that the allure of cake shared with my wife led to me gradually regaining the weight. After all, a happy life called for cake, right? 😂

Presently, I find myself at 21 stone 10 and facing considerable difficulty in shedding the pounds again. During my previous weight loss journey, I employed an approach of extremely low calories, following the OMAD (One Meal a Day) pattern, and working out every night, resulting in successful weight loss.

This time around, I've adopted a different strategy. I practice fasting until 1pm, consuming only water and black coffee throughout the morning. At lunchtime, which coincides with my work break, I opt for a salad, a tin of tuna, and a banana. For dinner, I'm not strictly adhering to a diet but instead focusing on portion control while enjoying a variety of foods.

Despite these efforts, it's frustrating to notice that the scale registers a drop and then quickly reverts back. I'm fully aware that my current routine isn't enough to maintain a weight close to 22 stone, yet the cycle persists.

I'm confident that I can overcome this challenge, considering how easy it was during my previous attempt. However, I'm growing a bit frustrated. I'm hesitant to eliminate my lunch and revert back to the OMAD approach, as I genuinely want to find a sustainable and balanced way to shed the weight this time.

TL;DR: After losing 8 stone following the birth of my second child, I gained weight due to enjoying treats. I'm currently at 21 stone 10 and struggling to replicate my earlier success. I used to do OMAD with intense workouts, but now I'm fasting until 1pm, having a balanced lunch, and focusing on portion control for dinner. The scale shows temporary drops, only to bounce back. Seeking advice and trying to avoid going back to OMAD.

Binging and Weight Loss

Hey yall! Reaching out to ask if anyone has a success story of sorts about stopping binge eating tendencies and weight loss. In 2020 during the pandemic I decided to buck up and lose weight. Started at ~215 and went down to 112 in March 2022 (5’4” 21F). I maintained this relatively easily until around April this year. I dont know what happened, like something snapped inside of me and forgot all the healthy habits I had. It didnt help that I moved home for summer too, surrounded by my younger brothers sugary food choices. I have been consistently binge eating since April and want to fix my habits as I’ve gone up to 128 and am very uncomfortable at this weight. It’s not the end of the world (anything is better than what I was in 2020) however, I feel lethargic and awful with the current state of my body. I’m not too sure where to start, I didnt really count calories until I was maintaining, and even then I was quite lax. Tomorrow I move into my new apartment, so Im hoping for a clean slate and control over what enters the house in terms of food. Please share any similar stories, success stories, or any thoughts and advice! Would love to hear from this community and hopefully gain some insight and motivation!

How much sodium do you eat a day?

Want to reach the word count, so first paragraph is just some BS back story you can ignore. Hello, I here to talk about sodium. No one cares about sodium because weight loss is all about calories - bloat comes and goes, fat is forever (unless you cut back on those calories). I wonder if this is enough words? I hope so. I’ve never been a big “add salt please” type of person, but I sure do love a good ol’ prepackaged meal, lord knows that has sodium.

I do not count sodium. But my blood pressure has been lower than usual (80s/50s), so I thought “maybe I need more salt.” I looked at my sodium intake, and I actually average about 3,500 mg a day, so that’s clearly not an issue lol. I looked it up, and the typical sodium intake for most Americans 3,400. Got me wondering how true that number was.

So just out of curiosity, what’s your average sodium intake? I know most don’t count this, but your app still should automatically!

(Side note, don’t need medical advice, had my physical last month and all was well! I have always had lower blood pressure/RHR, and my doc says it’s all gravy unless I start experiencing symptoms. It’s just gotten even lower with the weight loss, so that’s what sparked all this).

Never thought doing burpees would ever be a thing I could do. Was super intimidated by them. I just did 3 sets of 10!

This is a huge fitness win for me and wanted to share. You can do anything you put your mind to with just enough determination and willpower and most importantly never giving up on yourself and believing you are worth it.

Able to do a high quality burpee, with the pushup, was surprisingly easy. Obviously the weight loss helped make it possible as there is no way I could do a proper one for most of this journey. I've only been able to push my weight up since this February, but those were really poor form I realize that now.

Do you guys do burpees? We're you always intimidated by them like I was thinking that's not for you? They may be more in reach for you than you realize. If you can't do the pushup part that's fine.

Do you have a full calisthenics routine if so what do you do?

I'm thinking I'm gonna do 3 sets of 10 every night from now on and potentially add more or do different things in the routine as well. This is just day one, on a whim.

Hope you get what I'm trying to say with this post. I want you to know that if I can get into the shape needed to do a burpee, anyone can.

Has anyone done a medically restricted 800 cal diet?

For other morbidly obese (or formerly so) people, did you ever do a 800 cal diet? One done under a doctor supervision for a few weeks? If so, what did you do and what were the results? Were there bars you ate or vitamins you took or a plan you followed? What were your macros and micros?

I have done research about it online as I am 5.4’ and 250 lbs and it reads that you can stay on such programs for up to 12 weeks. (Largely due to such high starting weight)

This is something I am considering as I seem to be stuck in my weight loss, and I generally enjoy fasting. I actually used to be 309 lbs and do fasting 2 days (eating at night only) every week at the present moment. However I am concerned about the health risks… my insurance starts next month but I want to do more research before taking off work to see a weight loss doctor and I find it helpful to know what I am talking about prior to seeing doctor so I know what questions to ask
