Trying this again…

Hey there, I’ve been overweight since I was practically 8, and while I’ve been at weights in which I was happy with my body I am now way over what I want to be.

I’m 5’4 and hit 195 LB today, I’m also female. (I’m also 22)

I was happiest when I was 150 LB although, that’s when I started keto and other diets in a desperate attempt to lose weight.

I was 188 in April of this year, dropped to 170 by June, and have been steadily gaining since.

Along with this weight gain I’ve also experienced hair thickness (my hair was SO thin before) and more energy which leads me to believe my previous attempts at weight loss were unhealthy so I want to try again in the right way, I just need some suggestions.

To start off I’m intermittent fasting just to start getting some discipline into my food life again, lol. Next week I’m going to try a deficit + fasting, and I’ll slowly add cardio into that as well.

For reference, I WFH, I want a walking pad but I’m in the call centre world and unfortunately can’t use a walking pad during shifts… so I barely move.

My hobbies are also all very sedentary, I like drawing, reading, writing. This is why I’ve always struggled to have time for the gym. After my 9-5, cooking, and other house work I usually want to spend my remaining hour or hour and a half just drawing.

My relationship with food has not always been the best, any advice would be helpful.

My goal weight for now is 150 LB again.

Lost a ton of weight the first week, but the second week i lost none at all

Hey folks

So i started focusing on losing weight and getting in shape 2 weeks ago, i wouldn't really say i'm fat, but i had some extra weight at 90kg and 180cm, and also struggled with mobility and joint pain, so i started working out daily and focusing on healthy eating (I don't count calories as i can't really be bothered to do so for every single meal i eat, but i only eat once a day and make sure my macro proportion is good to get fulfilled quicker, as well as slow eating and drinking water), on my first week my weight loss was drastic, way more than normal from what i've seen, i went from weighing 90kg to 85kg, so i lost about 5kg, however on the second week, despite continuing with the same routine, i lost no weight at all.

Now it's perfectly ok if i don't lose weight as fast as the first week, but i don't know why this week my weight stayed the same, i guess it's normal since the more weight you lose the harder it is to lose it, but i'll try to adapt my workout routine and my diet to make sure i keep losing, what is your opinion? Do you think it's normal or should i change something?

Weight loss without counting calories?

In the past I've made some pretty bad experiences with calorie counting. I did it like a year ago for some time, but then my mental health declined and I started binging. It was always nothing or everything. I gained all the lost weight back. Eventhough that was almost a year ago, I still have those loud thoughts about food and calories constantly in the back of my mind. I also have experiences with early stages of bulimia, also a result of the calorie counting. Despite all that, I want to lose a few kgs, because I don't feel comfortable in my body and skin. Regarding my history with food I know calorie counting will eventually lead to an eating disorder. My idea was to participate in the 75 hard challenge. My rules would be: -Eating healthy and filling meals and less snacks -2 45 minute workouts per day (for example weightlifting and a walk, or sometimes even stretching) -3 litres water per day -a progress pic everyday -7-9 hours of sleep Do you think I could tone up with this routine but without calorie counting?

Feeling down, committing to a restart

In the past I lost 50lb, from 230 to 180. For years I’ve half assed trying to lose the additional 10lb but in general I hovered around 185lbs. That was fine but not ideal.

The past three months, whether to do frustrations, fatigue, the holidays, and general lack of commitment. I ate like a king and for the first time since 2021 I’m starting to edge into the XL category and boy am I depressed about it.

Three days after Thanksgiving I brought myself to a weigh in again? For the first time in a month where I was at 190lb (bleh). I’m at 201lbs (bleh).

I’m so mad at myself to doing this to myself. But I’m at least thankful that I’ve done this before and I know therefore I can do it again. I’m committing to losing the weight and getting down to 170lbs by June 2025. It won’t be easy, but it’s doable, even if it’s only 1lb a week.

I’m also commiting to finally running that half marathon. I bet both the training and the weight loss will go hand in hand.

Complete beginner low budget nutrition?

I've been interested in getting into running for awhile. I recently got started in jogging around my complex. But I don't know at all what to buy that would improve my health. I suffer from overeating - 40lbs overweight. Most of what I eat is ramen, popcorn, nachos with cheese, and chips with sour cream. I am interested in weight loss, but in a well balanced healthy way that will also build me up for fitness training. Namely changing to healthy eating.

I'm working with my neighbor. Both of us are poor. But I can afford to buy us both food. And she will do the cooking for us. Therefore, both of us can work together to start eating healthy. I just don't know what to get. She told me to get shrimp. That's it. I don't have any plan or clue what to get. Or what to eat each day. I would like to have lots more vegetables.

Please help. TYVM!

Looking for a weight loss buddy!

I've been struggling with binge eating and have been obsessed with losing weight. It’s been a cycle of restriction and then overeating, and honestly, it’s taken a toll on my mental and physical health. But this time, I’ve decided I want to do things differently. I’ve decided not to focus on losing weight but instead to eat healthier and work out more.

I’m looking for someone to share meal pictures with, exchange tips, and just be there for each other when motivation dips. and just so you know, I’m from Korea, so you’ll definitely see a lot of very Korean meals from me. lol. Also, just a heads-up, I’m still learning English, so there might be times when my grammar or wording isn’t perfect. I hope that’s okay with you.

why is my maintenance calorie count so low?

TDEE calculator says my maintenance is 1,600 calories. this is do able for me regularly, but when I want a 500 calorie deficit 1,100 calories is near impossible. I tried it, but eating 1100 calories a day made me really ill and weak.

current stats: female, 5’6, 135 lbs.

exercise: basically completely inactive other than walking to classes on campus. Figured upping my exercise would help but everything I see says that the thing to focus on is diet, not exercise

not sure if I have hormonal issues or anything. My period has been all out of order lately (cycle used to be 28 days consistently, then went between 20-22 days for a few months, and now its over a week late) but im not sure if that is related.

also: im very dehydrated. i drink around 0.5-1 cup of water a day, definitely something i need to work on but im nit sure if it affects weight loss
