Three years ago I weighed in at my heaviest, 290lb at 5'4". Morbidly obese. I tried all the "weight loss tips" you see online for a while. Eating oats and cottage cheese even though I hate them, marathon training despite the arthritis, ect. It didn't last or help ofc.
Eventually I moved, left my scale behind, and stopped caring. I was comfortable where I was. I got a job I liked, moved to a town I loved, and started eating the food I actually enjoyed. When I got to my new partners house and there was a scale in his bathroom I thought "Why not?" and took a look. 262. Without even trying I lost 30lbs in 2 years.
Not exactly winning races, but I was shocked and excited. A year later I bought a scale. 245?! Just by living a life that makes me happy!
That was April of this year. I decided to try again. Not with anyone else's diet or rules. I started a modified "75 medium" with workouts I have fun with, and food I don't hate. Though I didn't finish I did lose another 10lbs and found ways to adjust what I eat to help me lose more consistently. The routine and structure helped me gain stamina i didn't have before. I'm 230lbs now and haven't felt better or healthier since my college years when I was around 200.
My goal is 200 by the end of the year. Slow and steady really does win the race for me.
