How to politely comment on someone’s weight loss?

Idk if this is the right community but let me know if this is offensive or not the right place to ask. I first want to say I would never comment on someone’s body unsolicited and it’s no one’s place to comment on peoples weight or body. That being said, some of my friends and my boyfriend are losing weight/posting about their weight loss and I’m looking for some affirming things to say to them. so when people comment on your weight loss, what’s some comments that make you cringe or hurt you and what’s some comments you actually like to hear that make you feel good? I just want them to know I’m happy for them if they are happy and healthy no matter how they look- without accidentally saying something I don’t know is rude.

Losing weight + busy life: advice needed

To reach my goals, I thought I’d go on Reddit to ask for advice: I have been going to the gym for about 7 months now, having lost aprox 3/4 kilos ever since. In the beginning I was very consistent: 6x a week training push/pull/legs method. It was truly amazing. The numbers were dropping and my muscles were growing.

However, at some point school started again. It was harder for me to keep up and at this point the gyms close at 5pm due to covid. This means going as frequently and consistently becomes harder. Due to this situation, the weight loss has stopped and I look way less toned than I did before.

In the next few months I will be doing my internship, 4 days a week working from 9:30 till 18:00 every day and traveling 1.5 hours to and from work without traffic. This means I would only be able to go to the gym on my free day and in the weekend.

Right now I am 60,5 kilos and 166cm tall. My goal is to be aprox 57 kilos and between 20-23% fat.

Could anyone tell me what is a realistic goal for me and what is a realistic way to achieve it?

Methods to control cravings, avert the need to stress eat, and build a healthy relationship with food?

Hi everyone!

Long time lurker, I’m a 30 year old male and have had weight issues most of my adult life. As of writing this, I’m 296 pounds (on a 5’10” frame) and it’s time to get real about weight loss if I want to be and stay healthy. In the past, I’ve mostly lost weight with strict keto and then maintained with a fairly loose version of the Mediterranean diet. This time though, I’m really looking at my relationship with food and trying to fix it. All my life I’ve always turned to food when stressed, depressed, anxious, etc. I think about food even when I’m not bored - Fast forward to today and I have a full-blown addiction to sugar and fat. Any time I am restrictive with my diet and focus on a healthy macro split with a moderate calorie deficit, my stupid lizard brain can’t help but “reward” myself at the end of the day, which always turns into a binge-eating episode. Keto has always worked well for me in the past because I’ve “felt” full, and haven’t had to give up as many unhealthy foods that wouldn’t fit in a caloric-deficit based diet with a more equal macro split. I guess my question is, for people who have been in the same boat as I am right now, how have you approached your cravings? How have you fought binge eating? What sort of mental or physical exercises and activities have helped you avoid stress eating? This really isn’t so much about what I want to do any more, it’s what I need to do, and I’m not willing to let food control my life any more. I’ve also been dealing with what I think could be undiagnosed ADHD recently and am wondering if that could have an effect on anything. Thanks in advance for all your thoughtful feedback.

New to monitoring weight loss, belly fat

Trying to learn what I can in weight loss to lose this annoying belly fat.

I'm 33 amab, 143lb, 5'5" . I usually only eat one big meal a day, and then x many hours later I eat another something. I'm not the most active, but I'm not completely a sloth. For exercise during the warmer seasons, I like to go for walks or jogs, but I've been getting back into dancing for fun and activity. I'm a night person, so I'm usually up late.

I'm Gender fluid, but usually pretty feminine. I'd like to lose this belly weight because it's making it harder to fit into things, and it's not the look I'd like to go for.

So I'm learning it's mostly about diet, calorie intake in proportion to calories used. I try to eat healthy for the most part, I don't drink soda, but I do drink a lot of juice because it is the nectar of the gods in my eyes. Over the last few years I've developed a sweet tooth whereas I didn't originally have one this strong. I'm going through a lot of depressive moods including my worst lately, so It's been hard to hold back when my mood has been as bad as it has.

So I suppose I'm just looking for general advice in managing calories and the like. I don't prepare the meals in my house , how would I go about managing stuff like that? Is there a way I can get the delicious taste of juice without having all of the excess sugar? Perhaps Mio added to my water ? I don't really know what to do for all of this . I once tried a calorie counting app, but what do you do for items that either aren't on there , or aren't exactly as listed? That type of thing gives me a lot of anxiety and makes me neurotic.

I have this annoying habit of thinking that if I don't do things completely accurate or efficient, of getting discouraged and giving up. I know This type of science isn't exactly held to the T and doesn't need to be exact exact , but if I feel like I'm doing things inefficiently it demoralizes me.

Anyway, any help would be appreciated 💖

Just wanna share my weight loss

Hey guys, I'm not much active here, although I've been checking the sub for months now, but I decided today to do this post, it might give me some motivation to keep going.

Long story shot, I'm 23 years old, male, and I think since I'm 12/13 I started gaining weight. I've never been actually fat until my 17's, but I was notably overweight. Since then I never ever thought about changing my physical/eating habits. I didn't do shit the whole day aside from playing video games and I ate junk food all the time.

It didn't actually bothered me enough to make a change in my life. Of course, my self esteem was low, and I couldn't walk much withou being tired, but, I had accepted that was my life. Well, 4 years ago, after hearing a story from a friend about how he developed kidney stones because of soda and how excruciating the pain was, it kinda bugged something in my had. I literally drank soda on all my meals. So I decided to stop drinking soda, from one day to another. The first week was a little awkward, I wanted to drink, but I didn't, I controlled myself. After the first week I didn't have the urge to drink it again, and I've been that way for the past 4 years.

However, my eating habits stayed the same, my fear was only from the kidney stone. Anyway, since my change in drinking was so easy, I figured these days that my eating habits would be as well. Well, to give it a brief, last month I reach the highest weight I ever had. 115kg, with 170cm height. I've never been so fat, so I put something in my had. That I'd change my habits and I wouldn't eat shit anymore. And so I did, day to night and I paid an app to tell me when and what to eat, and I've been following it since. 1 month, and I'm with 110kg. I lost 5kg, and that actually gave me motivation to keep going.

Changing food was harder, because food is everywhere, and it comes with smell, different than drinks. But, I made it so far, I don't feel the urge to eat junk food anymore after this month, and the meals makes me fullfilled up until now.

To those curious, atm, my diet is consisting of 1300kcal/day, and according to their math (app) my body should use 3700kcal to keeo me alive, so I'm on deficit here and should continue to lose weight.

Also, I started walking/cycling. I go 2 times a week which is what I feel comfortable with. My objective is 70kg at the same month next year. I hope I make it, I never been skinny in my life since I'm an teenager/adult and I want to know what it's like.

Wish me luck!

Can I Lose Weight Without Exercise?

Feels like a dumb question to ask after losing 100lbs... But Ive started a new internship thats been taking up a lot of time and I dont nearly have the same amount of time to exercise as much as I used to. I used to walk at least 6 miles a day, 6 days a week, but now I dont have the time for it. As a result Im finding the rate of my weight loss to be decreasing at best and stagnating at worse depending on the week. Im still avoiding carbs and sugars, not drinking my calories ect, so my diet has remained the same, but without exercise my caloric deficit is no where near where it was, so the results have slowed down. And the worst part is Im finding my hunger increasing without exercise...? Any advice on how to lose another 60lbs by October 2022?

NSV: sticking to the plan while sick

I have been the type of person who has done pretty well, and then gotten sick and done poorly many, MANY times! I can go to either extreme of only eating comfort food while sick, or being too sick to eat anything, being thrilled to lose a few pounds, and then becoming discouraged when I start to eat normally and gain them back.

So this time, I am so, SO happy that I have managed to stick to the plan while sick. Being single, I don’t have a family to cook things for me, so I am basically having to do it myself. I’m not having any elaborate, amazing meals, and I admit I’m kind of eating what I have, with not many fruits and veggies. Basically lots of soups, sandwiches, and eggs are in my diet right now.

However…I am not constantly downing DoorDash and fast food! That totally would have been me in the past. “I don’t really have any food around here, and I’m too fatigued to cook it anyway, so I’m getting pasta! I deserve it! I’m miserable!”

Also, I haven’t had to talk myself into this decision. I have entertained the idea of ordering out more, always to come back to the opinion that I’d really rather stay on track with my calorie goal.

I think a huge shift for me has been CICO, and realizing I can do it without exercise. I have always had the willpower to exercise, but not really to eat small portions. Before, I would have thought, “well, being sick is going to ruin my weight loss, since I can’t exercise. Might as well get a pizza.” Now, I realize that I can still stick to the plan while sick. Things like soup and eggs can fill me up, and still put me under my calorie goal.

I also reached a new low yesterday!

Just so proud of myself, and wanting to encourage those of you out there who might face sickness this winter. You can absolutely be sick and make good choices!
