59 pounds down! Anyone else close to their final weight loss target?

I've got 1 more pound to go until I hit my goal of 60 pounds lost! I've been doing it since April, using CICO, running, and intermittent fasting AKA skipping breakfast. I continued to eat all my favourite foods but just in moderation. I've managed to maintain a fairly consistent 2 pound loss a week over about 8 months.

It's been both harder and easier than I thought. Transitioning into it is hard, and so is the constant 'ramping up' of the calorie deficit to maintain a consistent rate of loss. I learned that if you keep your deficit the same, you get a slowing rate of loss as you lose weight. I lowered my daily calorie intake whenever my rate started to slow a little, while slowly increasing the amount of walking and then running that I did each week. This meant that I could create a fairly decent calorie deficit, while still eating a satisfying amount of all my favourite foods.

I also learned that if you only eat two meals a day, you can have some pretty large and 'non diety' type meals while maintaining the deficit. It even leaves calories for having alcoholic drinks on the weekend, along with deserts and candy each week as well. This has been essential for helping me stick to it for so many months.

The last ten pounds were the hardest by far. I stalled for three weeks and thought my body had just lost interest in losing weight. I didn't want to lower my calorie intake any lower, so I just kept on increasing the amount of running until suddenly my scale snapped back into the regular rate of loss.

Is anyone else close to their weight loss goal? Does anyone have tips and advice for approaching maintenance? I'm a little worried about changing things up and switching to maintenance, just because everything has been working well for me for so long.

I don't want to become my dad (but I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong)

My dad's family has a history of cardio-vascular disease and diabetes. For years, I've been ashamed of my dad's side eating habits and their inability to take care of their health. Particularly my own dad has had two heart surgeries, and my dad's inability to prioritize his own health has always made me so angry. I also know how stressful it's been for my mom to take care of him and cook healthy at home. They are retired now and I feel like he have ONE job -- to stay fit and healthy. My dad's own weight journey has periodically gone from really fit to ballooning up..which has been just disturbing to watch.

Yet, I am now here in my late 20s struggling through the exact same thing as my dad. And I hate myself for it. I don't hate my body, in fact, I have a good sense of self-worth outside of my weight. But I do hate myself because I feel like I have lost the drive and work ethic to loose weight. I hate that I am putting on weight, trying to eat healthily and exercising.. yet failing spectacularly. I am what I call "a down jacket weight": someone who is in that mid-weight overweight range where they are not noticeably overweight when they wear a jacket..I look puffy, but I cannot pull off a fitted, sleeveless top without my arms, boobs, or tummy being noticed. I am about 17 pounds overweight to my ideal weight (28F, 137 lb, 5"00). 17 seems like such a small amount fo weight..but its SO stubborn it wont come off. When I was 23-24, I did lose a bunch of weight and weighed between 115-120 lbs but I think my body has slowed down its metabolism since. My first round of depression really helped pile on the extra weight since then.

The last 6 months, I really tried a bunch a of things..I add a strength training/ HIIT class 3x a week (that I've been very consistent with), added more veggies etc. but the scale and non-scale have barely budged. I have been trying intermittant fasting and eating at ~1500 calories. I'll try this for about a month and then see zero loss. I then just get so disheartened and go on a binge cycle for 15 days..until I decide. to try again. This has been going on for 6 months now. I have been pondering to myself if calorie counting, intermittent fasting, weight training is all a weight loss myth? Maybe I have this all wrong and the internet has conflicting information. sigh..

Yesterday, I zoomed with a friend after a long time and she jokingly but very accurately said my face had ballooned up. I have gotten used the weight comments over the years..but this is burning through my soul. I feel like I am on track in becoming my dad and I detest this version of myself. I just don't know how to build myself back up again. I just feel really defeated and almost hopeless to try again. I am not sure if any of you have been in this place before. I would love to hear how you overcame it or where I can start from.

In tears and helpless,
A puffy penguin

Difficulty sleeping since starting weight loss?

Has anyone else found it harder to get to sleep? I started eating in a caloric deficit 2 months ago and have lost 18 pounds so far. I never had trouble sleeping before, but I lie awake in bed for hours now. I'm still sedentary, eating high-volume low-calorie foods, and going to bed with a full stomach (I know an empty stomach is one factor for insomnia). My diet consists of oats, fruits, dairy, a lot of greens, and 3 consecutive days of either beef and chicken (I meal prep). I'm definitely not depriving myself.

Part of the reason I haven't started exercising is because my body is tired from lack of sleep. I definitely feel healthier and mentally more awake, but my body is tired... and my mental alertness is what keeps me up. So it's really confusing.

I get anywhere from 4-6 hours. Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

Accountability Group?

Hello Everyone. I’m 5’6” ~190 lbs female, 49 years old. I want to finally, take charge of my health and fitness.

I would really like to connect with people with similar demographics and weight loss goals. I have gained 50 lbs in the last 5 years, menopause has something to do with it but also, I know I’ve lost muscle mass. I would love to connect with a group to stay accountable, share healthy recipes, workout routines and just offer support. I made a discord group, please let me know if this interests you.

Questiom about tdee?

So im in the beginning stages of making changes so i can lose weight. Im 5'3 24yo Female CW: ranges from 180-188. GW: 135-125. I calculated my TdEE and all that and i should be eating around 1200 cal. A day to lose weight. I use the MyFitnessPal app. So i input my food, and keep track of my calories that way. And ill input my exercise and then my calories that im able to eat go up. For example, i had 230 calories i could eat for the rest of the day but when i logged my walking my calories i could eat went up to 500. Is that accurate? Am i able to eat more when i excersize or should i stick to my 1200/day to have better results with my weight loss?

I've lost 4 cats (and I'm happy about it)!

I know the title is strange but bear with me please.

I have a 4kg cat named Octave, so when I lost my first 4kg, I thought "eh, that's Octave's weight", and I weighted myself with him and bam, my SW, and it kind of helped me visualize how much I actually lost.

As of today, I've lost 4 Octaves, so here's a pic of my weight loss in cat.

What about you guys? How much have you lost, in pets? With pic if you can!
