22M Can you see any visible changes in my body?

Hello everyone, if you look at my post & Comment history you would know that I am a constant lurker here. I have been following Loseit and CICO guidelines and Eating at a deficit since Jan 10, 2022.

for your information, I am 22M (23 soon), Asian ethnicity, 165cm tall (short?). My body fat % is 25.5%.

I was around 78kg at the beginning of January and now I am 69.5kg.

I have been eating at an 800 cal deficit and working out (using the Home workouts app) alternate days at home. It's mostly bodyweight training, pushups, crunches, etc.

I am not able to spot any changes in my body as I've lost weight. Can you see any changes ?

Body Comparison here, and Weight loss chart here.

Now just to fill in the post character limit - A little bit of my story...

I started with weight loss in 2016. Back then I used to weigh 82 - 78Kgs with a lot of fat and very few muscles. I lost most of my weight and weighed around 65-64Kg for a year in 2018 and then in 2021-2022 I slowly gained almost all back. Because I had to study and later work from home, I used to eat a lot of ice cream since there was no way to go outside and enjoy life. My girlfriend also broke up with me later because she and I had different end goals in life. so that added more to my food-as-a-coping-mechanism story.

Last September I moved to Germany to study and am living alone for the first time. It's been lonely here. I also got my heart broken again in Germany which kind of made me turn inward and start my weight loss journey again. right now I am writing my finals ( yeah apparently finals here go on for 2 months with long gaps in between ) and again I am feeling a bit isolated but weight loss and the weight reading going down have been one of my motivators. I hope in April I find a good student job/research assistant job in computer science and meet more friends. Today I am going to an appointment with a gym to find a good membership contract. but I'll probably start Gym in April. because I have a lot of exams till march end. The last few months have been quite exhausting for me, lets's hope my life comes back on rails.

If you have read this far, can you recommend to me some good "Fashion"/"How to dress well?" sources for dressing in Germany? I come from a warm climate country and really have no dressing sense which encompasses more than 1 layer of clothing.

Thanks!

Am I exercising enough?

I’m not sure whether I’m currently exercising enough to help aid weight loss. I am F/mid20s/160lbs and looking to lose 20lbs. I am currently counting calories. I usually end up eating around 1700-1800.

My current routine is using the rowing machine 4 times a week doing a mix of intervals and steady-state for 20 mins. In addition, to aiming to go for a 45-75 min walk 4 or 5 times a week (permitting the weather). I should probably mention I’m very inactive when I’m not doing any of this.

Do you reckon this is sufficient or am I under exercising for my calorie deficit? I have only been counting calories for a month but have been rowing for 2 months and haven’t seen any changes either physically or in my measurements. But I definitely have noticed that I have more energy and feel better. I am thinking of gradually introducing and increasing my rowing sessions to 30 mins in the next month.

Plateau, IUD, or Thyroid?

28F 5'1" SW193lbs on Jan 15th. CW187.8

I've been losing weight pretty steadily since January. At 1lb a week since Jan15th. And then I got an IUD in on the 19th of February. Had a couple days of bloating at first. I've not stopped bleeding since but I've been assured that is normal for the first 6 months. A few sharp cramps here and there but overall not too bad.

Except for my weight loss which was .5lb the first week it was in and has now just stopped. I've been weighing and measuring every bite I take since Jan 15th. I've been exercising a lot more. I went from a 3500 step average a day at the beginning of February, to 9000 steps on average. I used to do 10k steps one day and then barely 500 the next and now I'm making at least 6000 a day. More active overall as well, never sitting for more than an hour at a time and getting my fitbit move goal from 12pm-9pm. I'm eating an average of 1350cal a day. That has not changed since the 15th. I've even been using an app that calculates your TDEE based on calorie input and weight. Since the IUD was put in my TDEE has gone from 1800 to 1690 according to the app.

I do have hypothyroidism, I last had my levels checked in early December and they were fine then but I suspect they could be acting up now. Or could this be the IUD, since the stall started when that was put in? They claim the IUD can't cause weight gain but I've seen a lot of testimonials claiming otherwise (but anecdotes and all that.) Or could this simply be a plateau? It feels too early for that but what do I know?

Was feelin’ pretty good....and then I entered my “no longer overweight” goal weight into a weight loss calculator.

It told me I’ll hit my goal weight in 2025.

(Insert laugh/cry here.)

Anyone else ever been momentarily discombobulated by one of these calculators? I mean, I’m not going to stop eating better or moving my body. This is for life. But still. Ouch.

I guess there’s a reason I didn’t ever do that particular calculation in my head.

(For context, and to meet the minimum word count, I am currently 247 lbs. My first goal is 238.5 lbs, which will be 5% of my body weight gone. My plan is to continue with 5% goals until I reach 166 lbs, at which point I will no longer be considered overweight and can decide on a sustainable maintenance range. I’ll be sure to post about that decision-making process when I get there in 2025. Lol.)

How often do you struggle with this whole thing?

Lately it feels like once a week I have a day where I am just OVER IT. I want to eat junk and pig out and not care about it anymore. I've lost 15lbs so far since Jan 11th and I am struggling more and more. F, 35yrs, 5'2" SW: 179.8 CW: 164.6 GW: 135(to start, maybe get down to 125). I am worried I am struggling too often, like is this normal??? I don't restrict foods, just serving sizes. So why am I still wanting to pig out?? I had a nutrition/protein shake with fruit for breakfast, I ate a very healthy, big salmon salad for lunch today and chicken tacos with tortilla chips for dinner followed by an ice cream sandwich(1334 cals). I'm not even hungry, I just want to eat junk. I'm so invested that I will not be giving into these feelings for a long time because the weight loss obsessed part of me is disgusted with the thought of going over 1400 calories in a day, I just can't do it..... but that just means that I'm sick of feeling this way and wish my brain would just STFU about food. It's a hard habit to break when I've eaten whatever I wanted since like 2013. (Lost weight before in 2012 then had 2 more babies since then.) Just wanted to vent and see if I was alone in this constant battle with food.

Frustrated with Bras & Weight Loss

Today sucked. I feel like I had a very bad breast day. I'm making great strides in my diet and my weight loss part is going fine but over the last week or two I feel like I developed a couple sudden issues:

  1. Zero bras of mine fit anymore. I know this is supposed to be a good thing. It's not the cup itself but rather the bands are too big. I feel like I have zero support at this point. My cup size (DD) has not gone down which just makes the weight of them even more frustrating. I ordered a couple bras that should hopefully be here in a day or two. I would have gone to the store already to buy one in person if I lived closer to a shopping center.
  2. I'm in a near perpetual state of the nips to the point where I have tenderness. I'm fully blaming a loosely fitted bra.
  3. My ribcage above my chest is starting to be more visible but I am far from my weight goal. I have no idea if this is because of my chest size but as I dress (in front of a mirror) I see multiple rows of ribs as I move my arms to dress/undress. My shoulders are getting boney too. I know it's a good thing I'm losing but at the same time I'm seeing bones there and still making no progress on my stomach? (I am far from underweight)

How do you address weight loss and bras? I want one that can follow a t-shirt size but I am not sure if that's even possible. Any recommendations will be HIGHLY appreciated.

Has anyone else dealt with the same issues?

Thank you!

The finish line keeps moving.

Weight loss is such an exhausting process. Last week I weighed 162.6lbs and this morning I was at 164lbs. I know that in the grand scheme of things, it’s obviously better than being at 168lbs 4 weeks ago but to make the decision everyday to be hungry, in a caloric deficit, saying no to food, and choosing to workout…4-6 months of dieting feels like a lifetime. I try not to weigh myself often for this exact reason, but it’s unfortunate to not be able to see consistent data despite consistent effort. I should have been .5lbs down from last week’s weight given my calorie tracking, but my weight is actually up instead. Water, sleep, etc I know logically affect this but emotionally it can be so draining. But we push on knowing that today is another decision point and it’s worth the work long-term. Keep going, friends. The battle continues.
