Since losing weight, people are making fun of how much I used to weigh?

Hey everyone! Long time lurker, first time poster lol.

I (25F) have struggled with my weight for a good portion of my life. Anorexic in my teens then binge eating and restricting in college. When I graduated, I just started binge eating.

I’m 5’7 and my highest weight was 225lbs. I’ve recently got down to 183lbs since August. I haven’t made major changes, I just started taking regular walks and started making healthier choices (i.e sparkling water instead of soda, grilled chicken instead of fried) I still want to lose more weight (GW: 150lbs) which I know if I want to do, I’ll have to make bigger changes.

I recently saw some family who I haven’t seen since my weight loss. I must look a bit different because they kept making comments about how I’ve lost a bunch of weight. Then the jokes came about how I used to be a “well rounded woman” and now there are comments about the health content of what I eat and how I should try to avoid getting weight back on.

It sorta hurts my feelings hearing that because I imagine that they were making fun of me when I weighed 225lbs or that they were judging me when I weighed that much. A part of it may also be me feeling a bit embarrassed because of my weight gain.

Has anyone else experienced this? Am I being too sensitive or over thinking things? Is this something I should expect more of since I plan on losing more weight?

Hit a standstill and don’t know where to go from here…

I’m currently at a standstill in my weight loss journey and I don’t know where to go from here. I’m F24 and 5’6” 150 lbs. (goal is 125-130lbs)

I used to have a gym routine with a trainer/friend of mine that I took part in for 2 years consistently. I never actually saw a difference in my weight loss so I gave up on spending the money for a useless membership at the beginning of 2022.

I decided to start completely over and focus more on my meals about 6 months ago. I eat primarily protein and veggies, my total consumption not going over 1200 calories. I work a desk job from early in the AM to 5PM every weekday. I hit over 5k steps a day with the limited time I feel like I have; however, I still have a stomach and noticeable stretch marks on my back/butt area. What else can i do to help me progress my weight loss journey and tone these certain areas?

I’m definitely no expert, even after working with a trainer for a while. I also never saw a difference in my progress pics and did ab workout videos forever and never saw a difference there. I feel like I’m doing something wrong and I just don’t know it.

(Some side notes: I have Hashimotos but take meds so idk if that’s even relevant here. I hit a point in time during COVID where I wasn’t allowing myself to eat, ended up going from 170lbs to 130lbs in a few months. The minute I started regularly eating again I went right back to 150lbs and can’t seem to get it back down in a healthy way.)

Also TIA, and please don’t judge as I’ve never actually shared a lot of this info to anyone before.

3. Click on an old-school workout video.

Go retro with your activity: Fire up YouTube for a classic workout video that won’t just make you sweat, but will make you smile. Most of the infomercial and as-seen-on-TV workout tapes of the 1980s have been uploaded to the site, and they’re free to watch and play along. Whether it’s dance karate, something that goes for just eight minutes, or your favorite old-school celebrity’s tape, you can find one that lets you laugh along with the dated fashions while you do a workout that fits your fitness level—and will be counted on your watch.

4. Instead of emailing, walk to talk to your coworker.

5. Mix it up on the treadmill.

Treadmills were invented in the 19th century for prisons to punish defiant inmates, according to one online source. But you’re not in chains, so the mill doesn’t have to mean suffering, and it doesn’t have to be boring: Treadmill gamers combine treadmill walking with mobile video games to break up the monotony. 7. Plan an active date or day out.

Here we go again

I’m 32F, ~235#. I need to lose 70-100#. We plan to start trying to conceive (#2) in June and I need to at least make a start toward healthy lifestyle and weight loss if I hope to be successful in that department. I also desperately want a healthy pregnancy, as least as much as I can control, which means losing weight if I can. I’ve done this a million times over. I tried Trulicity back in March and was sick as a dog for the entire time I was on it. I requested a refill on it today and I’m hoping I can find dietary tips that can help reduce the GI upset from it. I’ve tried phentermine/Adipex and it sends my anxiety and irritability soaring. I lost ~30# on keto previously but gained it back double when COVID started. I’m also having bra/breast issues because the straps cause muscle spasms, but a lack of support is also causing pain. I can’t wear underwire because it digs into my ribs, and the sweat is a genuine problem. I’m just so ready to take control of my life and eating but I can’t even imagine what that’s really going to look like. Last time I was on trulicity the only thing I could stomach was smoothie king, but that likely made the GI symptoms worse because of the sugars, so I’ll be continuing to avoid that this time around. I honestly just feel so broken and alone with virtually no livelihood; and I really hope that I can turn that around with a sense of accomplishment in finally defeating my lifelong obesity.

Starting over...while pregnant

I feel like my story just sounds like a lot of shitty excuses but whatever. So in 2017-2018 I lost like 130lb (from 380-250, so there was still a ways to go). In 2019 I started to plateau - I was planning my wedding and allowed myself to get psyched out about "if I keep losing at THIS rate how much will I weigh by the wedding??" I lost a job I loved and slid into the pandemic unemployed. Then I got pregnant with my son in early 2020.

Overall I was still feeling okay. I'd backslid a little but over a really hard 18m period I only put on about 20lb, which actually didn't feel that bad to me. So I started my pregnancy around 270 and gained about 40lb (including baby - I was just under 300 right after I delivered). Gained a little more back postpartum and in late 2021 I was around 315.

I was starting to feel pretty unhappy so I started diligently logging again and I actually did pretty well! I lost about 30lb in 6m or so, but then I got pregnant again in June. And then I lost that baby at 13w (well, 9w, but I found out at 13w), so I had battled food cravings and gained weight for literally nothing. And now I am about 305 and pregnant yet again (for now, anyway...).

My husband has told me a few times that back when I was really successful I was active in this sub. He says community is important and I guess he's probably right although I don't really feel like anything can help me right now and it's probably going to be super demoralizing to start getting serious about weight loss again while I'm growing 15lb of human and organ and various fluids. But there we are. Just planting my flag, I guess.

If you are at a weak point in your weight loss journey.. might want to keep scrolling.

People lose weight for lots of reasons..I have lost it before but my main reason was always and still is to simply feel better and look better.

So how can one feel better when they (and arguably many others) think they look worse with the sagging and aged looking skin?

Plus my relationships really struggle! I am not compelled to be intimate after (my MANY times) of successful weight losses. 75 to 100#. Its hard if not impossible to enjoy yourself in the bedroom while trying to cover up and constantly thinking about belly, thighs, the under arm flappy wings... shutting off the lights doesn't work, cause then its that feel around awkward touching biz. Sorry. tmi. I know.

Its enough to make me think it'd be easier to be alone forever than to deal with it all.

A quiet but deep dark disapointment sets in depressing me and slowly causes me to eventually gain it all back because to me any true satisfaction is never realized. And I cant afford get skin removal surgery.

I have tried time and again the... "look yourself in the mirror and say something nice to yourself" idea. Doesn't work.. my mind >> 😳 "You are trying to trick us right now, and although I appreciate your effort...not today. not ever."

Weightloss in itself is hard enough! I could cry. I can't help but feel heartbroken for anyone in this same position.

tl;dr Weightloss for the people who need it most (especially the very large) does not provide a sense of full on satisfaction like other types of goal achieving does. Unless, of course, you have absolutely zero vanity or able to afford skin removal.

Stomach pain and growling

Im a little over one month in on my weight loss and its been going well. I have lost 7.5kg to date and I feel a lot more energetic as I'm carefully considering what I put in my body as opposed to before.

But there is one glaring issue that's been haunting me for the past week or so. My stomach growls a lot and very often it accompanies a slight but uncomfortable pain; that which goes away only after eating, water sometimes helps. But the issue is I have no appetite, I've grown to actually dislike eating and as I'm writing this now I haven't eaten anything all day. I don't want to eat but it's the only way I know how to stop the pain and growling. Is the root cause how little I eat compared to before? Is there a way to combat the pain without having to resort to eating?
