Weight Loss Imposter Syndrome?

Apparently I'm down over 10 lbs in little over a month which is supposedly pretty good progress but I feel like it has to be some kind of mistake? Like maybe my scale's broken (I keep checking it with dumbells, but I'm still not convinced) or maybe it's just a lot of water weight. Some of my clothes are starting to feel looser but maybe it's just the elastic wearing out. I mean I don't think I look any different. I don't feel any different.

I feel like I'm not doing enough to warrant an over 1 lb/week loss? I'm not intermittent fasting. I'm not even counting calories! All I'm doing is eating less and cutting out most processed foods, and even then it feels like I'm constantly slipping up. Weight loss is supposed to be so much harder than this!

Is anyone else feeling the same way? How do you deal with this?

Down 90lbs! Story + pics inside!

My journey began on around January of 2018 and I would say I'm pretty happy with where I am now.Achieved through incremental changes, adding IF + OMAD + exercise + keto pleasure foods! haha

My Story:

I started around ~240lbs, but frankly I'm sure it probably a little higher.I got sick with the flu and visited the doctor's perhaps twice. I recall seeing that number on the scale and thinking I needed to do something about it.I also couldn't eat anything for two weeks after recovering from the flu except for vegetables and light foods.

By this time, I'd probably lost around ten pounds in water weight - I figured, "what the heck? Let's keep it going!". Thus, my weight loss journey began. I knew I'd have to make a lot of lifestyle adjustments, and I couldn't jump into everything all at once - I took incremental steps and integrated them!

I started with simply cutting out junk food. I decided to no longer stress/binge-eat on Doritos and McDonald's constantly.

I think felt a little better, and decided to start at least counting carbs. I was shocked to see how much I would eat, even when counting. I decided to not limit anything, yet, but figured I would at least get an accurate estimate. I tracked, on average, between 200-350g of carbs :( and thought, "how do I change this?"

So I then turned to at least trying to cut that in half and adding more proteins.

Continue this trend for a few months and I found keto as the next step for weight loss. Time to add fats!Again, I continue this trend for a few months, continually losing weight at an acceptable loss rate of around ~1-2 lbs per week.

I then had a bit of a relapse as I started my stressful graduate year in college, which is why you can see my weight go back up to around ~180 in the photos. But I thought, "no!", and learned different stress-coping mechanisms.

I then learned about IF and how it can help with focus, which I was desperately needed at the time - so much to balance in that final year. Obviously this community knows about its benefits, but for me, the suppression of constantly being hungry was a big deal at the time (before I knew about vital minerals and things) - I could focus on my work better!

Towards January of 2019, I took the last push of some ~40 pounds more seriously because I knew I was finally making progress. I then continued to integrate more of IF (i.e. changing from 16-8 to 18-6, etc.) throughout the months slowly. Taking on OMAD towards the end of college was quite nice, and I definitely wish I'd known about it earlier!

In any case, towards the end, I learned to transition to a keto/low-carb of around ~20-40g maintenance style which I'm happily enjoying.

The summary is that weight loss was a journey and evaluation of myself.

My motto would be : "I have struggled. I have achieved!"

An unexpected NSV

Hey all! So I had to take out my belly ring today because it started to hang too loose, which is a sign of rejection. I was bummed at first because I love all my piercings, but I talked to my piercer and apparently significant weight loss can cause belly button piercings to start migrating. Now I’m extra proud of myself and I plan to get it repierced as a reward once I lose the rest of the weight. Over halfway now!

I’ve been doing CICO (between 1200-1500 depending on the day’s activity level) since March & IF since about June, recently bumped up from 16:8 to 18:4. I also bike or alternate walk/run 5miles a day and down a gallon of water daily.

Also! I know it’s incredibly common for belly rings to reject and that it can be caused by many things and happen whenever. However, I’ve got a dozen piercings and none of them have ever rejected and this belly ring has been in with zero problems or movement for years, up until I started losing a visible amount of fat over the last few months. I spoke with a trusted professional & it’s her opinion that it was likely caused by the fat loss :)

How I've lost 48 pounds since January!

My SW is 190, CW is 142, and GW is 130. I'm F, and 5'4". I stick to 1200 calories a day. So generally what caused my weight gain was probably drinking, and just overeating when I was working. I've now cut out drinking almost entirely and really limit my soda intake.

I started drinking 2 or 3 days a week, and the pounds packed on. I was also much less active than I used to be and drank too much soda. I have no idea how much I was drinking, but it was probably roughly 2 or 3 cans a day of soda.

I've found that having snacks actually has helped me! I know for many having snacks doesn't help, but I found for me if I keep a small bag of hershey kisses around and have 1 or 2 a day, it really helps my cravings. I usually stock up at the dollar store and get small bags of treats that last me a couple weeks.

I usually don't eat until 12pm or 1pm, and I usually have a small snack or lunch around 200-300 cals. I have a decent sized dinner and maybe a sweet snack after dinner depending on how large my meal was. Generally, I like to stick to eating the suggested serving size of most foods. It keeps my cals low enough that allow me to have some leeway.

The times we do have fast food, I often share it with my boyfriend. Let's say we go to del taco. I might get 1 taco. My boyfriend maybe gets a burrito and he gets the meal deal that comes with a drink and fries. I have a little bit of his fries and a small amount of the drink! Neither of us need that many fries or that much soda, so it makes a lot more sense to split it. The bonus of this is it also saves a lot of money!

We also try to walk for 60 minutes or more a day just to remain active. So..that's generally it! I know this isn't some solid weight loss plan, but it's worked for me! I hope this helps someone else reach their goals. :)

Work Day Struggles

Hi Everyone! My husband owns a videography business and we spend about half our Saturdays filming weddings. I really love doing this work with him and it's great to be part of such an important day in peoples lives, but it's becoming an obstacle in my weight loss.

For most of these days- I am on my feet for approximately 10 hours (more standing still than walking around). I tend to eat sporadically because weddings don't often go to plan and its not like I can whip out a salad during a church service. I do what I can to minimize the impact. I pack healthy snacks in my camera bag and eat when I can, I completely skip any food at cocktail hour, only drink water, eat a reasonable portion at dinner, and (almost)always skip dessert.

I am currently doing CICO and I've been in the habit of weighing myself everyday. No matter how good I am at a wedding I ALWAYS gain one to two pounds after every. single. wedding. Any thoughts on why this happens? Could I be throwing my system in starvation mode over one day? I am wondering if anyone else has tips for people who have jobs that just don't accommodate their eating

Let’s have a discussion: What was the moment that gave you the finally push to fully dive into weight loss?

I’ll share my story here.

Backstory: I was always overweight, and years ago I got motivated and lost 100 pounds. I felt amazing. I went back to school for a trade, and started making excuses. Over the next 2 years I’d put nearly all of it back on. Then one day at a family gathering we were looking at pictures and reminiscing. My brother in law showed us a picture where I was thinner. I was immediately disgusted with myself. At that exact moment, I gave up my unhealthy lifestyle.

Since then, I’m down about 65 pounds. I have about another 30 to go before I’m at the “perfect weight”, and now I’m struggling to get past this barrier. I figured if I see what everyone else got motivated with, I’d find my reason to finish the journey. Please share your story!

Where Should I Start

Details:

Weight ~220lbs/100kg. We don't have a scale.
Height: 5'8
Age: 18
Activity Level: Almost non-existent.

Hia, so I am looking to lose some weight. I have not been happy about my body for a long time and I am unsure of where to start. To start off. I am wanting to drop down to about 200lbs / 91kg to start off with. I have tried different ways to track how many calories and whatnot im taking in, but I eat mostly home-cooked meals. It's hard to tell how many I am taking in. I have watched videos, read articles, etc. And they are all giving different workout but I don't know which is best for me to purely lose weight.

Here is my situation. I live out in the countryside so there is practically nothing around me. I am currently in university and have access to a gym, but I just don't feel comfortable trying to do the weight loss in the gym. I do have a treadmill in my house but it currently is not working. I am not a huge fan of dieting, but I am able to control my calories and portions of eating fairly ok.

My main question is where do I start? What can I start doing today that can have me losing weight at a fairly decent rate? Thank you for reading and whatever input you have.
